Our insane habit of being excited about anything that's touted as made in India never ceases !!
BharOS is simply an AOSP version of android. In layman terms, the kernel and a few more integration layers is available as an open source code to adhere to Linux GPL library (because anything based on Linux OS should have the core components of it freely available as source code). Now anyone can use this AOSP code and create their own version of OS. Many AOSP versions of Android are available like this already.
But you have to understand that there are many more elements to an OS that are not part of AOSP, security layer, encryption layer, communication layer and most importantly graphics n AI / machine learning. Each AOSP OS developer has to add these on their own. And for most mature AOSP androids, it's a multiple person multiple year effort.
BharOS is just a engineering project at this moment. And frankly they're hyping it up and as usual people are larping it!! There have been 100s of AOSP operating systems that have been created by students like Linux itself and OpenBSD (by Berkeley students ) SCO linux etc. It remains to be seen how they add these layers without which it won't be a polished OS with modern UI.
Lastly the privacy and security focused is a joke !! You cannot call your OS privacy and security focused just by removing Google software from that. You need to add a full on security layer to it !!
All in all this is a student project that's been hyped up

Marketing aise hori hai jaise bahut bada kadam ho chuka hai AOSP is for last 5 years in Indian Market and many enthusiastic developers creating custom Roms I guess this will be just like a mere Stunt By GoI.

It would be better to put forward an alternative to Google services rather than working on an os Android is open source so Google doesn't have a monopoly on it ,they have a monopoly over the services.
It would be better if goi makes a partnership with Indian big tech to provide safe alternatives and when the alternatives are matured enough they can just make them compulsory to have if someone want to access the Indian market.This will force the manufacturers and dev to adopt Indian services making them less dependent on gapps.

But it won't work . Mobile companies will always tie up with Google only on Android devices. Cause people are always used to pre installed Google apps. It's win win situation for both Google and mobile companies.

Full support to bhar os. Right now Google takes at least 15% tax on every play store app. It increases subscription and purchasing cost.

Mostly 80 percent have Android or iOS system. Is it possible to convert Android ro Bharos or we have to purchase new phone
Its nothing just a fork of AOSP....being a custom rom user..there r about 100 of such forks of os...Curently I am using ArrowOS Jan Patch on a 4yr old 3/32GB Phone super smooth and stock felling.
It is like a custom rom.
I use custom rom and it is best but less features in some custom roms.
If this happens I will move to iOS
But
In Motorola we have a option if we want to download bloatware
I think CCI should make google provide similar option to select which apps we want to download

Govt can maker own App and force brands to replace them with google apps

So basically BharOS is based on the concept of HarmonyOS. The only difference is that BharOS is at its initial level while HarmonyOS is more mature.
I can think of one brand which will be happy to scam people under the name of "BharOS". Micromax 🤠

@@arjunna2364 HarmonyOS itself is based on AOSP. I talked about the concept of BharOS. It's based on HarmonyOS. HarmonyOS is the only mainstream OS which doesn't have any Google services. AOSP is the project under which HarmonyOS, Linux, LineageOS, etc open-source OS are compiled.

It will not work properly with all smartphones. There will be bugs and crashes in Bhar OS definitely. It can work in only low end cheap devices. Android and iOS are irreplaceable. I will continue with Android in future.
