Thanks again for some nice insights on the Play. Was wondering why you’ve decided to start with the most prominent element (in your case the kick) and set it to +5dB instead of leveling it out to be max 0dB leaving headroom for adding the other elements.
No problem buddy, The reason i mix the loudest element first is nothing will surpass it in volume, Unless i have 2 elements in the same loudness space, then i will bust out the eq or some filters. The other part is i try to keep to a fixed master volume at a "good" listening level when making music. Very ad-hoc, But I get close enough to a good mix and all elements are relative to each other. So I may just need to boost the signal on the final export. I instinctively adjusted the kick and didn't look at the number, just listening out for clipping, The sample must of been a little bit quieter.
