I googled to read about Roger griffis because I have never heard of him before. I was sad to see he passed away in 2017. Rip Mr. Griffis.
After Efren won it, we all went to a late night dinner with Efren, Bustmante and Mike LeBron. Then the day after, we saw them at Hard Times before their late night flight back to the Philippines. Bustamante had food poisoning from the late night dinner .
Roger was a hell of player, and a funny guy, R.I.P.

Love the way Roger carries himself. Laughed at himself after the scratch. Just a cool guy.
He laughed OUTSIDE. Inside, he was probably dying and scolding himself, pretty sure. I've never seen a pro that really thinks it's funny when he does something stupid at a pool 101 level, and it happens to the best of them. Truly a game of millimeters, sometimes.
Holy cow that shot in the 3rd game by Griffis. Never heard of him unfortunately until now, but now I won't forget him.

Sometimes I wish I could reach through my screen and slap the commentators, especially when they say crap like "I don't know why Reyes played the balls the way he did" even though Reyes is a much better player than both of them combined and every shot was set up perfect for the next ball and he ended up running the rack out. There's a reason why he is on the table playing and you are in a booth talking about the match.
I couldn't even get 15 minutes into this. These commentators are the absolutely terrible. It's like listening to amateurs plan out the rack

I didn't question the foul on Efrin in game 4 but when afterwards they mention of controversy..I went back and watched it...once...no slow mo...and the hit was legal... clearly .

Don't get me wrong because Billy Incardona is one of my favorite announcers of all time, but this man just won against Efren, and in the interview billion cardona is arguing with this man to prove his point..... He won. Love the commentating Billy!
That was absolutely a good shot on the 5 bank by Reyes. The official badly messed up, calling foul.

Efram Reyes is, was and always will be in a class by himself.
Is likely, but will "always will be"? Not even remotely likely. There is always a next Efren, Tiger Woods, Mark Spitz, Scotty Hamilton, Dick Fosbury, Roger Bannister, and hundreds of others. Many many 'somebody elses' will arise that will push the game to an entirely new level, just as he (and the other Fillipinos, Busty, Pag, etc) did in the kick safing area.
The Chinese seem to be becoming the new FIlipinos presently, and guys like Ko are shooting at tremendous levels of capabilities. Efren is/was one special dude though, no question, my favorite to watch, even now, but unfortunately now pretty much limited to one pocket, it seems, at least at pinnacle level. We all get older. And I agree he is practically the definition of 'class act' as he demonstrated here multiple times.
@@MrJdsenior sir, that is VERY unlikely, simply because Efran can SEE the lines the ball will travel on the table IN HIS HEAD, ..BEFORE the cueball is struck...I'm 73, and I've seen them ALL, played pool myself since the age of 14, and NOBODY has ever had his mathematical ability, his shot-making ability, AND if you combine all that with his Experience, (he's been playing since he was 6-7 years old, and LIVED in a pool parlor), ....it is HIGHLY unlikely that it will ever happen again...

I turned the sound off while watching because the 2 commentators non stop continuous talking about what a player should or should not do became a real annoyance / they should cut their comments down by a full 75 or 80 per cent .
And after the match during the interview the non stop you should of could of done this instead of that motor mouth scenario continued non stop .

I think that dinner table line in the beginning was the first time I actually laughed at something a commentator said 😂
I appreciate the upload of this great match. In spite of Incardona's constant poor shot predictions, butchering the English language, and incessant babbling, I enjoyed some great pool.

The shot Efren is faced with on 27:01 is pretty challenging (wait for it).
The lag was NOT Questionable. Been around aircraft for 40yrs and can tell at a glance the difference between .030" and .040". Reyes won the lag, period. Love to hear these guys rattle on, now twenty years later and Efren has retired and been accused of being one of the best players that ever lived but as far as the commentators are concerned, he made another tactical error. The real entertainment is watching the spike headed near sighted spaceman that is refereeing this match.
Efren the magicians only humans sometimes the runner stumbles . at the end of the day , he was the greatest pool player that ever walked on the face of the earth .
I just don’t like commentators arguing all the time. I don’t look to see who can guess what will be played. Comment on what was played. I get aggravated with the bickering. Ugh!!!

Roger was a hulk in Pool. First person I seen wear a glove. He stood up to Efren at 11:00 am for a match, best pool I've seen. That is early for pool players.

On rack #9 the commentator said he didn't "follow thru" well you go back and look he absolutely followed thru it just jumped off the table!!!
Efren was just a bit off his game in this one. The three scratches sealed his defeat.
I normally don't comment negatively but these commentators I wish would shut up. They haven't been right about any of the players plans

Omg thank you. I considered turning the volume off because they were so annoying. They were wrong so many times over and over and then bickering back and forth about what is the best route for him to take to run out l? And then they would argue about that. That was the most annoying match I've ever watched. I wish I did turn the volume down because it was hard concentrating on the match. They were horrible.

not only that is wrong, but the way the commentators reacts few minutes after that, shows you one of the reasons pool is still where it is.

@@Hujjtrog apparently using the video footage to adjudicate in this match wasn't an option. Im kind of ok with that, if that was the prior arrangement. I watch a lot of pool, Ken {the ref) has a habit of calling a foul when it wasn't and immediately picking up the cue ball.
These guys have been off on calling these games through the match.
They are really professional rugby players, but they were cheap enough. 😃

Terrible call by the ref. I was pretty sure it wasnt a foul the first time I saw it because the 13 moved so slowly it tells you it was barely touched. I watched it back frame by frame and the 5 clearly moves before the 13, bad call.

Why isn't the sardo rack used anymore? I have never used one but I always heard announcers say it makes a perfect rack every time. I hate that new paper thin one they use. I take it off immediately after the break. It does affect the balls if they roll over it. I see guys leave it on the table the whole tournament.
It was a ridiculously over-priced gimmick that really was no better than a $5 plastic Wal Mart rack. The reason is the cloth develops dimples over time from racking and the balls will settle despite where the rack places them. The announcers always talk it up because Sardo was a sponsor. Like you, I'm not a fan of paper racks.

These color commenters are lame. Because they don't do it their way doesn't mean it's wrong. We all see things differently. There not on the floor to feel the angles & cuts.
That commentator Said that Efren did not play 3 shots ahead but if he did, we should bar Efren from Pool. We should bar that stupid commentator. I have heard him call the wrong shot at least 50 times every time he's commentating. At THE 29 MIN MARK Play this in slow motion. Efren hit the 5 ball before the 13. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!!! . If someone could amplify that shot in slow motion, I know it's too late now but it would be interesting to see what ball was hit first or is there an advantage to calling a foul on Efren for the ref. Just thinking :o)) I'm certain that commentator doesn't play pool :o))

Funny to see people who literally cannot run 3-balls in the commentary here saying things from "efren must not like 8-Ball ... to "who's this Billy guy and why does he talk so much." ... lol.

@@AccuStats Numerous other comments share my opinion concerning the commentators continuous yapping , second guessing and just talking too much . I will continue to watch further matches with sound muted whenever these commentators are on board . Great pool spoiled by annoying commentary .

I really like bill incardona met him several times but it almost seems like bill is threatened by guest commentator’s view on things sometimes and I understand bill has a alpha personality but for the most part I enjoyed Tony and what he had to say sure seemed like bill didn’t

i am surprised they did not try to replay it at the time. but even then, most shots can be ruled foul or not by deduction. because it went to the right of the shot line with draw, you can deduce it billiards off the 13. if it was illegal, it will billiard off the 5 to the left.
