It's 20 degrees outside. I've got brownies in the oven with strawberries in them. I see we feel the same way about cold ❄️🥶 and snow. When someone says they think snow is pretty, I ask them if they've ever had to go cut a load of firewood in a foot of snow... One time my uncle called and said he was out of wood 🪵🪓, it was January, and there was 10 inches of snow ❄️ on the ground. They were going to widen the highway from two to four lanes, so everyone was cutting wood 🪵🪓 along the highway. We went and cut a big load of wood, and on the way out, we had to cross a small shallow branch (💦 water) to get out, and we got stuck right in the middle of it. It was 13 degrees, and one of us had to get out and wade the water to go ask the landowner to bring his tractor 🚜 to pull us out. He came and I had to stick my arms into the icy water to hook the chain onto his truck. I was sure glad to get home to my warm house, and I told him to make the wood last, because I wasn't going to do that again. So, every time it snows, I remember that day... I had to go out and get some wood out of my truck at 3:30 this morning to make a fire 🔥. I put a little bit too much in the stove, and it got up to 92 degrees in here before I got the stove shut down, so I left the door open a little bit so it would cool off. My stove is big enough to heat a house, but I only have one room. So it has dropped off to 82 inside and it feels pretty good to me, lol. I'm having Jim Beam Bourbon Vanilla coffee with the brownies. That snow looks cold...it is pretty nice not to have to get out in the cold if I don't want to. I had a wood stove out in the garage at my old house, so I didn't have to defrost the windshield or warm the engine up much. I don't like having to sit in a cold truck while it warms up, besides, thats when 80% of engine wear occurs. So, I just don't drive it much in the winter time. A few times a month, maybe. I wait until a warmer day to cut any wood or get scraps at the truss factory for kindling. I get that free, so instead of burning propane or using the electric ⚡ from the solar batteries, I just burn a few pieces of 2X4 boards about 18 inches long. I've burned 6 last night. It only costs a couple of dollars a month to get a pickup truck load in my Ranger Sport. A load will last three or four weeks unless it's down around zero. * I have to burn a piece or two of hardwood then. It's funny, but I usually find enough in the road ditches for what little I use. I use even less now that I have the greenhouse blocking the cold wind off the West side of the barn. I'm building some shelves in here while it's cold, for a microwave oven and the can opener. I found a nice limb that the wind broke off laying in the road ditch a couple of miles away, so Im going to stop and cut it into about three pieces and bring that in for later when it's 12 deg outside. * hope it's warm enough to do that tomorrow so I can get it inside before it rains and cut it up. It's probably 18 feet long, so that'll last me awhile. I'm still gathering some in case of a blizzard or something. My old home made stove works very well, and it costs almost nothing to heat my space. I had to get a new phone in July and I haven't ordered anything from Amazon yet since then ( never thought I'd hear that from me). So I got it working again yesterday, the password was in my old phone which has a chip you put in it, this phone already has the chip built in. My old phone won't come on so I can get the password off the chip, so I had to have them restart my account. So, Im going to get a few things from there ordered today. I guess I should get an electric blanket for when I don't want to get up and build a fire 🔥. The days are getting shorter, the barn shades my solar panels faster every day, so I had to move 8 of them farther away to get Sun 🌞 enough to charge the batteries fully. The wind generator was making a lot of power yesterday so those batteries are all ready to go. I cooked down two quarts of apples with cinnamon and sugar to use as a frosting for the brownies. I used part of the strawberries in the apples and part in the brownies. I like to have something like that when it's wood 🪵😅 cutting season. Sounds like the Cold ❄️🥶 is coming your way. It's supposed to be around 70s Tuesday but it'll probably be windy. Good to hear that your heat is fixed. I've got plenty. If it becomes an ice age, I've got two jugs of propane and I'll get a bigger one like a 100 pound bottle or something. I had a 20 pound jug last me two years the last time. * * I always keep a spare full one. * guess I will finish the shelf, and get the microwave in here. There's one more receptacle on the inverter and it's already got the 15 amp breaker on it. Then I won't have to unplug something else to use the can opener or microwave oven. And it's going to make a shade on my work table so I have to put a light under the shelf now. Next * have to build another shelf for canned food. Getting a lot of it stored back before the really bad weather so I won't have to go anywhere. Well have a good day and don't let the snow ❄️ get too deep...I think it's going to miss our area for awhile yet, unless we get a little bit next weekend. They're not sure where it's going to go yet. It's down to 75 degrees now so I can shut the door, lol.
Wow you've been really busy! The bakery sounds really delicious. Got to have coffee with bakery 🧁🥯 ☕ that's a lot of wood cutting going on there. I'm glad you're able to keep warm in your little house. I have 4 20lb propane tanks that should last me for a while should the power go out. I really need to get out there and fire up that generator. Practice run 😊👍🥶❄️
Good Friday Morning, Ellen. It was 47° when I woke up this morning...I stayed in bed until it was 49°.😄. So foggy! We are under a fog advisory. My dayghter had to deplane her 6am flight to Phoenix this morning due to fog. I really don't understand why they even board the flight...coastal fog ceiling is not going to lift in a 30 minute boarding time frame. I was surprised she could even see to get to the airport. We are reaching 77° today. Wow...good deal on Sweet Potatoes! I like to have one every day as they are so nutritional. First time this week for coffee...having Hazelnut. Will try the Chocolate Raspberry on the weekend. It looks so cold at your house...the wind even makes it seem colder. I would have to sit right in front of a portable heater and not move. I hope Lizzy respects your morning peace and waits to bark after coffee. 🤣 She is so cute....so I am sure is easily forgiven. 🐶💕
Lizzie barks up a storm the minute she hears me coming down the stairs. I've never had a dog that barks as much as she does. She's quite vocal. 77° sounds great to me it's been very cold here. A little bit of warming up is coming though
The snow looked so beautiful to me. Well , living here in South Texas, it's our perfect weather time. Once we pass the heat in the summer, the rest of the year is perfect.
I’m going to check out the teas at Trader Joe’s. It’s in the western states, but I don’t know if you get that grocery chain in Ohio. It’s full of interesting items, fairly inexpensive and they have a watchful eye on more natural ingredients in their product line. You always have the most interesting teas and coffees to try. Continued Prayers to sweet Chloe. ❤
Thank you for the continued prayers for my Chloe. Trader Joe's is actually owned by Aldi's brother. We have Trader Joe's I have one that's not too far from me. I go there once in a while. Aldi's is just more convenient for me.
Your garden looks pretty with the snow. I love snow and we seldom have it where we live in the UK. We are coming to New York nxt Friday and I’m so excited and really hope it will be snowy there. Bless little Chloe and her partners in crime 😊. Xx
I am thankful to God that I don’t have to go to work anymore also! It is cold here and I stay in as much as possible. Parmesan has cellulose in it which is ground wood. Dr. Berry said so.
It might sound funny, but I would love to have snow. Its summer here in Australia. We have had a heatwave. Yuk! The cold seems so refreshing. Chloe seems a little better. Bless you .

It's freezing in Alabama, but I'm glad we don't have snow. We postponed our trip to Ohio until after Christmas. I'm relieved we aren't going to be traveling in the snow.

We did have sun today though it didn't make a difference. I think Chloe looks a bit perkier, I'm so glad she's eating some and continues to go outside. Have a cozy night dear Ellen

I decorated my bathroom with Santa this year. Yep, Santa watching you do your business. LOL I finally got a day where I didn't have to go out anywhere. It was so nice.
