I'm so glad you mentioned getting sad around this time of year when the garden isn't as robust. I hope that over the winter you'll continue to do gardening stuff that we can watch and maybe participate in our own home
Thanks so much for the nudge. I've wanted to stay active on YT during the winter and struggled each year. I have some things I've noted that could be interesting to share this winter 🤞🏽💚.
So happy I found someone that live in zone 6. Still learning about gardening. Where did you get your seeds for your bell poblano & red peppers? They are beautiful!Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden.. definitely a new subscriber
Heya!! The poblano pepper seeds were from High Mowing Seeds and I'm pretty sure the red California Wonder peppers were from Survival Garden Seeds and the long bullhorn like red peppers were from Gurney's. Happy Gardening!
I saw a video of an older lady who took all the green tomatoes and wrapped them individually in newspaper and stored in a cool dry place and they eventually ripened. She had fresh garden tomatoes weeks and months after the season was over. I’ll see if I saved the video.
Ashley, you're really kind to look. A couple of years ago, we had our first frost at the end of October so I pulled all of the tomatoes. I had tomatoes ripening in my basement on a table through the beginning of December! Someone else in the comments mentioned, the taste is not the quite the same as a summer tomato but it's till a great treat!
Hi Ms B! What a beautiful harvest. Absolutely beautiful. 😊 My summer garden didn't do that well. Tomato plants grew well but didn't produce well. My okra and jalapeño pepper plants produce very well. I think it was just too hot. However, my fall garden is showing out. I'm very happy how everything I planted in September is growing great!😊 As always, thanks for sharing!😊
Heya Ms. Elwandaa! I know the heat has been a been a nemisis for you this year. But I'm glad to hear your okra and jalapeños did well. And I figured you would have a kick butt Fall garden once the weather "cooled down" for you. 💚
Hi. Thanks for sharing with us. You did great this year. And that Greenstalk means business. It is growing like weeds, as they say. I'm still holding on to some tomato and peppers too. My zone is 8b, and time is ticking!! 🍅🫑🌶 Very nice harvest!
Heya Jaysea! I am also all but certain that I have never had a chutney 😊 I'm also all but certain that I have a green tomato chutney recipe in one of my books 🤔. Thanks for the suggestion!
Motivating video my garden goals . The peppers and tomatoes with my favorite the egg plants are definitely on my list to grown and actually have enough to eat . Nice work happy harvesting 😊
Eggplant is always hard for me. I either have a lot from one plant or not many at all. Im going to dig up an old IG post where folks shared their favorite eggplant recipes. Mine is a picked eggplant (th-cam.com/video/suBwjvls24Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cAFoao6Et10qyx_G)
So impressive! I have pulled all but my cherry tomatoes, tromboncino squash, okra, peppers, greens, and herbs. I’ve been planting perennial onions and garlic and some more greens for fall. I’m so amazed how you still have all those tomatoes! As far as the green ones, if they are any decent size at all, I will pick them and let them ripen inside. They might not be the best fresh, but they will eventually ripen and be fine to add to a sauce or to dehydrate. I did the pickled green tomatoes one year- they were not my favorite.
Sounds like you have a full garden Shelby😊. I can't place it but I just recently saw a gardener post about tromboncino squash.. I'll add perennial onions to my "look into" list because I am intrigued. And I'm a bit surprised by the tomatoes too. I mean, every year (except last years), I have tomatoes still on the plants in October but I don't think I normally have this many that are ripe on the vine..
Beautiful! I've been slowly going out each day and trying to pull in more and more. Today I brought in 15 lb of mostly green tomatoes. Make some green tomato salsa verde! It's delicious.
Now you're talking Kris! Salsa verde is my all time favorite type of salsa. I made a pretty bad (bad as I'm not good😊) batch a few years ago, using some very sweet odd looking tomatillos which makes me wonder if they were true tomatillos... anywho, I've never tried it with green tomatoes.🤔
Wow, lovely harvest! This is the first year my squash we now totally infested with pests but I only had one of three produce. It has not been a good use of space yet for me, but I'll give it another try next year. Yes indeed, the garden memory can be foggy! 😂 I'm doing better by keeping a garden journal.
Beautiful garden. Usually we can't plant things until end of Oct when the threat of frosts passes. I'm hoping it will be a hot start to summer as the past 2 summers were very cold so things took ages to grow.
Hello from the south burbs of Illinois! I’ve got a food forest as well. You’re the second one I’ve heard abt getting sad this time of year. I hope you can push through! ❤
Heya neighbor (I could you as a neighbor if your in IL, or heck, any of the bordering states 😜). I think it's definitely in large part, not being able to do something I enjoy so much in the same way, but there is also a bit of sadness just with the weather alone (I start to do my annual review of my relocation list 😊). I always find a way through it. Last year, working on preservation projects really helped!
Heya Joy! Thank you! And the cleanup... oh me, oh my..I've been talking about it lately but I'm not sure I'm ready to get going, lol. Good on you for getting it done!
Hey sista. I stay in Richton Park. This is my first time gardening. Is there anything I can do in the winter. I didn’t do well this first time. But lord willing I will do great next year. Any tips will be great.
@@BBettaGarden this was my first time doing this. I planted: carrot 🥕,Beets, Kale, Peppers,🌶 Cucumbers, 🥒 Tomato’s, 🍅 collard greens, cantaloupes,🍈 Spearmint, Rosemary, lavender. I tried but no luck with blue berries. The tomato 🍅 was my favorite. I mainly gave everything away to friends and family. Except the tomatoes 🍅 I kept eating them. They were SO good
I haven’t had squash 🍅🍆🌶️🍠 In so long …, think 💭 taste 👅 squash Burgers 🍔 & soup 🥣 Does anyone do anything else with Squash? How does this Scallop squash even taste 👅?
Ahhh, I could have given you some of the white bush squash. Im terrible at describing tastes. It definitely puts you in the mind of summer squash but it has more flavor than let's say a yellow squash. I roast them with a little oil and then you can add any seasonings you want. It's mild and maybe a tinge sweet.
Omg I’m in Chicago on the westside and I want start a raised bed garden with containers what should I put out first? Some of my fondest memories is my granny’s garden🫶🏾… trying to get back to my roots
Heya Chicago neighbor! Since we're still getting freezing temps, you want to start with things that can take a frost like lettuce, peas, spinach, collards, broccoli. These two charts have been super helpful for me: extension.illinois.edu/blogs/flowers-fruits-and-frass/2020-02-11-illinois-vegetable-planting-dates-spacing-and-seeds (the first paragraph recommends shifting the dates based on our location.) www.almanac.com/gardening/planting-calendar Just enter your zip code.

Many thanks! The tomatoes and peppers at the end of the season are like the ones at the beginning.. I cherish them😊
@@BBettaGarden I get that
Beautiful harvest! I have been slicing, freezing and vacuum sealing my green tomatoes to enjoy fried green tomatoes during the winter 🥶.
Heya! I've never considered this. How's the texture when they come out of the freezer?
@@BBettaGarden I have not tried them yet. I hope they will be fine.
Your garden is amazingly beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks Ri❤️❤️❤️
Lovely gardener...lovely produce...lovely garden!👍
Use some of those green tomatoes, peppers, and other garden goodness to make chow-chow.😋
So very kind of you Valorie, thank you! And chow chow is rising to the top of the list, thanks'

Hey! Lovely October garden. I planted garlic today. My tomatoes are done but last year I made Green Tomato Chutney. Yum! Peace-
I tried pickling my green tomato. I didn't like them, but would love to try the chutney recipe.
U planted garlic 🧄 today ? U must be in a hot 🥵 zone USA 🇺🇸
