I think some viewers missed the kindness video. I enjoy all the varieties of videos. You can’t tailor to everyone but people still feel the need to micromanage. It’s a video which means you watch it
I use to be able to work in my garden till dusk after working all day. Now at 66 I use this method to be able to keep control of my garden. Your garden has come so far in this past year. Congratulations to your family.
You are incredible at finding bits of beauty in the every day. Like appreciating a lone leaf clinging to a tree. It may be too late in the season for me to smell my roses but you better believe that I smiled at some leaves still waving in the chilly Zone 3 wind today! 🍁🇨🇦
Janey… I don’t know if you know this…you had said in a video after you planted the lemon coral sedum that you wanted to plant more along your path. It is so easy to take some of the sedum that has rooted where you don’t want it and transplant down your path. Super easy and free sedum…garden math!!!
@ I didn’t know that. Thanks for info. I guess it can be a suggestion for everyone else that doesn’t get free plants…it is a way to make things go further
Janey, Great idea for the zones, you are right too big, to cover all of the areas in one day. now less stress on your mind as well. you are such a hard worker, and Monty always over seeing what you do, great companion he is. thank you Jason for all you do as well. great team.. how wonderful to have hummingbirds all year long, and a nest on top of it! I think my favorite part of your yard is the orchard. and maybe just because it is so full of color, I just love the area where the coral sedum is. every time you scan that area in your vidios my heart skips a beat. , I just think wow wow. so so pretty. I am sure that was so hard to cut all of the gomphrena out. it just looked so beautiful. but for sure I know you want to get those bad leaves out of there. that red bud is going to be so pretty next year, one of my favorite trees, I was thinking you would pluck that last Leaf off the tree. but then what you said about the last Leaf, I love that! Everything is just beautiful! I cannot wait till spring to see it all. Genie : )
I switched to zones last year. I found i wasn't enjoying my gardens because I focused on what needed to be done instead of the beauty of my gardens. Now I don't worry if I spot a weed knowing I'll get that in a couple of days. The anxiety is gone and the joy of gardening is back. Happy you're zoning now too. Blessings from Iowa 5b.
Hmm, "what's worse, weeding or planting bulbs?" I'll have to say weeding because it never ends, whereas bulbs you spend a few hours a couple times a year and you're done. Your nails looks nice btw! Love the autumn red!
I love hummingbirds. They make their home in my crepe myrtle trees that overlook my raised flower beds. I have salvia and lantana they are making their territory in my trees. Earlier this year, I had female Anna's hummingbirds. She or multiple she's have been replaced by a Male hummingbird. I affectionately have nicknamed him "Junior," after another male that made my backyard his territory several years ago. He was nicknamed, "Reggie." Love to see your encounters with the hummingbirds!
@DigPlantWaterRepeat Hi Janey 🌺 Thanks my friend . We spend most of our time in the safe room hoping that the war will stop so that we can live in peace and quiet in the Galilee . Have a great day .🌻🎄🌻
I like your idea of limiting your chore time for each zone❣️ I can see how you can feel on top of things Janey❤ I think next to your lavender river, you should plant lemon carex! It stays looking beautiful in winter and all year. It will be the perfect height, color and texture against the blue of the lavender too🌹💖🌿🌾💙
Is it amazing how refreshing it is to clean up the garden in the cooler months, better then the hot summer as we do in N. California. Looking good Janey, you always inspire me.
You are so lucky to be able to have plant borders next to your home. As of January 1st, where I live in Woodacre - N CA, we cannot have any plants (not even a lily pad) within 5 feet of the home, due to fire danger. Your yard is looking amazing. Lucky girl to play in the yard; I'm off to work!
Star Jasmine in my 8A NC area grows like a weed in spring, and summer. I use it on trellises to provide privacy, but have to trim off wayward vines every third day or so after I initially allowed it to fill in. Smells heavenly. In contrast, my potted ivy does not need trimming near as much while it grows on my obelisks.
Wow! Can't believe how much you got done in just two hours! Was thinking a nice looking rock would look neat where you removed the ornamental grass. It will help keep your hose from smashing plants. I live in zone 6 and trim my Russian sage and red hot poker in autumn. It doesn't bother them. They always look great the next year. In an earlier video, you mentioned extending your sedum border. That can easily be done by tossing your sedum trimmings where you'd like them to grow. I do that and mine just grow! Do you think if you left some space between the redbud tree trunk and your beautiful flowers, it would give the tree better air circulation? And as a result, a healthier tree? It's so nice to be able to share gardening ideas. Keep up the good work!
You have come a long way to meeting your expectations. Your landscaping is becoming very beautiful. Can’t wait to see the finished project. I bet it’s going to look as beautiful as your previous home landscaping. Props to you, focus, and dedication.
Looks to me like there needs to be more air flow near the base of the weeping redbud to keep disease down - cut back annuals faraway from the crown - keep a sharp eye on the density of the tree canopy as the tree matures
Good morning. Just a thought about the flowers that were around the Red Bud, planting those flowers would they have choked the air flow around the tree at the base. I know that sometimes air flow is what plants, trees and shrubs need. The plants act like the mulch that being if too much then it kills the tree. Love your channel
WOULD THE LEMON CORAL SEDUM TAKE ROOT IF YOU PLANTED ELSEWHERE? GOOD IDEA TO REMOVE THE GOMPHERNA IT WILL LET THE AIR CIRCULATE MORE FREELY AROUND YOUR TREE. HUMMERS NESTING HOW LOVELY. GARDEN LOOKS GREAT
Good job, Janey! A little bit goes a long way. Love the view looking back to your house from the orchard path to see the vibrant pistache tree peeking over the roof! Gorgeous tree! My Japanese flowering cherry is starting to give sone fall color, too. I love your chartreuse "Lemon Coral" sedum combined with the blue salvia...you need to plant some Salvia "Limelight" in your garden for a wow color pop.
Hi Janey - I just love your videos and how you plan all your planting and maintenance projects. I don't know if I missed it, but I'd like to see how you handle your composting, or do you do composting? Sorry, I've been out of the loop for a few months. Your garden is looking beautiful.
What a great idea to do maintenance in zones. I never considered that before but I’m definitely going to do it that way now. I often move from spot to spot as my ADD moves me. LoL I didn’t know hummingbirds build nests in the fig tree. I have one so I will be looking for them there. Seeing the wildlife is my favorite part of gardening.
Hi Janey, your gardens look very beautiful and lush. Your hard work has paid off. Here in NJ we have had a very dry summer. I don't have irrigation and have been used to natural rain water to keep plants healthy. Anyway, your property looks so neat and the plants look very good and well organized. 😊
Your Garden is beautiful. My Plants in zone 7 are done blooming except for the putunia's and Lantana that are in Pots. They will probably freeze next Week. Our hummers have been gone for quite awhile already. I love them
I like the plant too, lemon coral sedum. It is pretty it is hardy. 7b Jersey shore The trouble is here it becomes a weed!if a little piece that breaks off for 🐕🦌whatever the reason will root and grows wherever it lands.
Janey this is a great idea, your orchard garden looks so beautiful and your dilly on the house wall looks fantastic. Great video. Love your channel and love y'all ❤
Janey, your beautiful smile just makes me feel happy! You give such good advice on gardening and it is appreciated! Everything is really coming together beautifully! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
When people ask “how long do you spend in your garden?”, I’m hesitant to say how many hours I do spend. It’s really helpful having you share that 2 hours on maintenance is just one zone ; that’s the reality and I feel empowered to no longer take those “ you’re crazy” look. Thank you for all the kind things you share and how you make others lives better 😊
Good morning sunshine! And hello little hummers!! ❤ I think your garden. Looks beautiful with all the color still. We are looking brown here in zone 7 Missouri. I wanted to tell you that redbuds don’t like being overwatered. They have an amazing long tap root. That might be why it had a disease. I have a bad habit of overwatering. 😅
I forget that the valley gets lots of fog this time of year... we are still getting rain up north of you, had sunshine sat morning though, you're doing a great job garden always looks so beautiful.
I recently found out that there is a name for the thick valley fog. It's called tule fog and forms after the first significant rainfall of the season. It's named for tule grass. Isn't that interesting? 😊
Hi Janey working a full time job and my garden TH-cam channel I have broken my garden into zones. Last year I had to make the adjustment plus I made cute little bricks to mark the zones lol
Have you ever asked the goat neighbors if you could share the garden trimmings with them? We have goats and get lots of gifts from our neighbors...even bougainvilleas, and they clean it all up!
Hi Janey, Monty Your garden looks stunning, I still have to do some clean up ugh keep putting it off later I'll regret it. Have a great rest of the day Have a Great Thanksgiving 🦃PS you were holding the Frisbee upside down LOL 😊👋
Janey your garden has come along beautifully. You have a great Foresight. I can’t believe the transformation so far. Do you have any time in the future any ideas about removing a portion of the blacktop.?
Weeding is the worst! I constantly fight bindweed, thistle and just discovered black nightshade (toxic and I have dogs that eat plants). I’m starting to remove rock and weed cloth put down by builder 15 years ago bc it’s failing and plant green ground covers to see if that reduces my work. You can definitely save the redbud, I had a peach tree with curl, decided to leave it and went it came back in spring sprayed with captain jack copper fungicide and it has done great!
Love your garden! Learning so much. And those trees! I want maybe one or two. My yard is so small so that’s the reason why I can’t plant more. And where are the outdoor cats?
Great inspirational video. You are so lucky to have hummingbirds this time of year. I was wondering if I should cut back the playing the blues salvia. I am in zone 7b, so I am hoping that it will come back next year.
Hi Jane, I have a question for you that I'd like more info on...your comment was insightful that you posted on another youtubers channel (4 years ago). It's not relevant to gardening and would be inconsiderate of me...just had no other way to find you. May I please PM you somehow? Are you on another social site where I can PM you? Thanks for your reply.
I mostly listen while doing something else and I noticed lately that you’re typing words while the music is playing. I’d much rather hear your voiceover than read words. The music is fun, but it’s a video, not a book lol. Sorry, I’m not trying to sound like a Karen, just give some helpful advice.
Not to be dramatic, but I’ve left channels because of this. I garden with the video in my headphones, and it can be very disjointed when the TH-camr doesn’t voice the transitions 😔

Glad you didn’t have storm damage. Some of your garden views were so lovely. The fog gave it a hazy, dreamy look.
Thanks Denise! Jason and I were appreciating the fog this morning too!
Good to see Monty keeping you two in line. He is a great supervisor.
He’s so strict.
@@DigPlantWaterRepeatA real taskmaster!!! 😅
Janey… I don’t know if you know this…you had said in a video after you planted the lemon coral sedum that you wanted to plant more along your path. It is so easy to take some of the sedum that has rooted where you don’t want it and transplant down your path. Super easy and free sedum…garden math!!!
The potted sedum comes free from proven winners, but it’s what I would do too! 🙂
@ I didn’t know that. Thanks for info. I guess it can be a suggestion for everyone else that doesn’t get free plants…it is a way to make things go further
Easy-peasy to start more sedum from leftover cuttings!
Good morning. Your property is looking so beautiful Janey. You and Jason are a great team.
Ok you had me at the hummingbirds ! 🥰🇨🇦

I think I’ll agree with you! Plus there’s no payoff to weeding 🤭
Flip Monty's frisbee over and then toss with a quick wrist flick. Works like a charm.
I love hummingbirds. They make their home in my crepe myrtle trees that overlook my raised flower beds. I have salvia and lantana they are making their territory in my trees. Hi Janey🌺 .Well done . Nice work all look beautiful in your garden . The star jasmine looks amazing . Have a wonderful day .🎄🌻🎄

Hummingbirds nest in trees, bushes, and yard ornamentals - like statues. Their nest is the size of a quarter.
Great idea to zone your work!
Gotta love those cleanup videos. So satisfying. I’m amazed how much the espalier has grown already. 💚
That soft soaking rain on top of the compost you have put down will work wonders this coming spring!
100%! 💗
Take a photograph of the last leaf on the tree and frame it for your office. The tree looks so beautiful! ❤M
Love seeing your plants so pretty this time of year.

I use rebar stakes, decorative garden art (flowers) to prevent damage from hoses.
Garden cleanup is so satisfying... I give myself a time limit as well😊
It’s such a better way to do it! I feel way more accomplished with a time limit 💗

So satisfying to watch! It’s hysterical wonderful to get into our gardens and turn tired into tidy! Have a great day Janie! 🍁
You got a lot done👍👍
I wish I was in the same zone as you so I could just follow your schedule 😂
Have you ever asked the goat neighbors if you could share the garden trimmings with them? We have goats and get lots of gifts from our neighbors...even bougainvilleas, and they clean it all up!
Great idea.
Tell them it would be an all-they-can eat buffet! Baaahhh!
And after the goats have... processed the garden trimmings, maybe you could get some goat manure!
The fog in the yard looked so pretty. Question, would the gompfrena inhibit airflow around the redbud? 🇨🇦❄️
Your gardens look magical in the mist! ❤️
Yes! Gardens after a rain look magical!
Hi Janey, Monty

Good morning 😊🍁🍂🦃❤️
You want more lemon coral sedum, why don’t you propagate it from your cuttings?
Weeding is the worst. It's never ending. Bulbs, you plant and BOOM you're done. 😂

I love these videos and while I like the music find it very difficult to read the writing on the screens.
