I (like many others) were super excited before the season began. After last years finish and seeing a Levi come in and play very well during the last 8 games of the season, finishing 91points...we had every reason to be excited about this year expecting more than 91 this year. And now seeing the implosion and their inability to play even competitively, was maddening. That is why we are so mad. Given we had great goaltending this year and solid defensive play in some of the games, when an even bigger boost to what should have been the big breakthrough season.
At what point does the NHL actually look at this and put pressure on getting things turned around or they'll have to step in? I know that might seem extreme, but if I am running a league and see that a small market that certainly can bring in ratings against competitors is in a never-ending doomspiral and the owner isn't turning it around, I'd want to step in and get some answers.
13 years is the average lifespan of a dog, the Sabres could of got a dog mascot in 2011 and it would of already had its full life and the Sabres didn't make the play-offs that dogs entire lifetime.

Last year they were in a playoff spot for one day and they promptly fell apart . This year they faced a crucial road trip and collapsed. In the darwinian environment of the NHL weak teams get eaten. If they don’t want to fire Granato and pay him for nothing, I say, sit him down and offer him a different job in the organization at a coaches salary. He is a smart hockey guy, just not a Head Coach. He’s loved by the organization, so keeping him around won’t piss the players off and we can give it another shot with a better coach

We don’t have an nhl team, so when I was stationed in New York for the Navy, and my first nhl game I ever saw was the shared playing the maple leafs, I decided they would be my team. This was in 2015. I am very diehard for my sports teams. I just want to see some playoff hockey 🥲
Jeff Skinner has never been to the playoffs. The Hurricanes missed the playoffs in 2010 and drafted Skinner in that summer's draft. They traded him to Buffalo during the summer of 2018 and have made the playoffs every year since.
Zero consistency. Couzens is a featherweight forward who needs a porkchop or 20. The playing from the whole team is beyond bad. Dahlin earns his money. Who else is consistent? Thompson should man up. We won't coddle him like his coach does. If you don't want to play then go somewhere else. The goalie can only do so much and UPL has saved their butts from pure embarrassment time and time again. This team is all around bad up and down the bench. Granato isn't a NHL caliber coach. Nothing to do with Diggs. The owner needs to make a decision now.
Turn Tage Thompson in to a net front presence. With his size, nobody could move him. With his reach, he could get to anything near the crease. His goal totals will return to what they were in 2022-23. Also, bring in a couple of net crashers - too few of the current Sabres will go there.
Team needs a veteran hardass coach and Adams needs to trade or sign some VETERAN UFA forwards! Hopefully Adams will make these moves this summer but i have a bad feeling he will replace expyring contracts with prospects and he will bring back Daycare Granato and his misfit coaches as Adams and Pegula will say the team regressed which is common for young teams to do! God i hope im wrong. Either way it should be an interesting summer as i think Adams is also starting to feel some pressure as he will be going into year 5 under his tenure. Miss the playoffs next spring and Adams could be out of a job!

Best bet to improve this team is to move it a place players want to go, Buffalo is miserable, and even I myself rather overpay for a leafs ticket in Toronto and cheer for my team then go to that miserable place. That combined with our 13 year history it needs/deserves more then a face lift to fix.

Just find some great talent, guys with motors who just keep their foot on the gas whether they're up or down by 3. I don't need to spend money on Stamkos (like you said not that he'd come here) or anybody like him. We need some talent in their prime. It's time to boost this average age by a little bit. Find me some guys in their late 20's who have won and has been the guy to drive those wins.

Agree that we need a "Drury" like transaction to transform this team. Love the idea of signing Stamkos short term high AAV. Also sign Sean Monahan - they have the cap space to do this, especially if they buy out Skinner.

Sports franchises are no different than any other business. Some are run professionally and have success, and some are shady and don't do very well.
