The line was not spoken when shooting. It was overdubbed when James Earl Jones voice was added.
@@PxThucydides Hmm... that's disgusting. But why would they tell Mark about it then? I heard that they did that scene an everyone was shocked on the set.

No one found out on set during the shooting.
Vader's voice is done by James Earl Jones, whereas for ESB, Vader in the suit was played by David Prowse most of the time (tall bodybuilder), and by the fight choreographer Bob Anderson for swordfight scenes (he's an Olympic fencer among other sword arts).

Mark hammel and James earl Jones knew. Honestly it was probably keeped such a secret because the guy who played darth Vader physically got mad about being dubbed over and spoiled stuff at a convention.

@bluewardog I saw the part where Darth Vader and Princess Leia meet with Mr. Prowse's voice not overdubbed.
George Lucas was so very right to use the voice of James Earl Jones instead...🫣
A British tabloid leaked the (false) twist that Obi-Wan killed Luke’s father and the only one who had that script was David Prowse, which is why George Lucas ended up banning him from all Star Wars events.
But Lucas banned him in 2010 after he "burnt too many bridges"
And then after Prowses death, they found out it wasn't him at all. Really sad.
Really who was it @@paulnicholson5997
@@paulnicholson5997who was it?
@avp6730 I think they found one of the stage hands, like a gaffer or set builders, and they didn't find out until after Prows had passed. It was a big misunderstanding. Prows was also known to have a big mouth and talk too much, which is why he got blamed in the first place. I'll try and dig up where I found the info. Edit: The story is in Giant freaking robot, Title: George Lucas blamed beloved StarWars actor for ruining his best movie. It turns out it was a tabloid. They called Prowse and asked for an interview about weight training. While interviewing Prowse at the gym, the reporter blind sided Prowse that he wouldn't be playing the death scene. The headline made it seem as though Prowse had dropped the info, which he hadn't. Anyway, it was screwed up. Read the story.
I would watch a remake of the OT with Mark Hamill playing every single role
Lol the delivery of that "We'll know its you" 😂😂😂
It's amazing how, even after forty years of being around the completed films, Mark still hears David Prowse in his head as the voice of Vader.
“Search your feelings and don’t get cocky, kid!”
That plot twist was so unexpected, even Mark Hamill couldn't believe it! Wow!
The best is when he does the impression of Harrison from premier night, "Hey kid, you never fuggin told me that."
I was in a test audience for the preview of SW before all the effects were added. Everyone laughed "what a piece of crap" we all said.
You were correct. It is a piece of crap. Stripped of all the fireworks, its bad. 2 and 3 are good though.
Born in 79. Never saw in it theatres. Saw it on TV. Maybe a lesser experience, but I got to focus on the dialogue. Which was leaden, awkward, uncomfortable to listen to. Lucas cannot write for human beings, sadly. Good producer though.

Mark Hamil doing a Vader impression has me envisioning Darth Joker 🤣🤣
"No, I don't think you understand... Darth Vader *IS* *your* Father, Mark."
"Well, search your feelings" is a legendary comeback.
Everyone knew Star Wars was stupid. Even George Lucas. It’s why he kept all the rights for the films. After everything was said and done, he went on vacation. Then found a huge line of people for a movie. He asked them what they were in line for and was shocked when they all excited told him “Star Wars”.
He vet 2% of gross against Close Encounters of the Third Kind. He thought it was the better movie. Spielberg had more confidence in Star Wars doing good box office.

When David Prowse said, "Obiwan killed your father", he spoke in a West Country accent.
I feel like it would have been really cool if he didn't find out until they were actively filming the scene. With the way Darth Vader was voiced, and what people are saying about Prowse, that probably wasn't possible.
How would Luke have reacted to Obi Wan killed your father?
All they would have had to do is record JEJ saying, "No I am your father". It's not like Darth Vaders lips would not match what was said.
The one thing that I like about Mark Hamill is he never took himself too seriously. He's just a go with the flow kind of guy.
I mean, James Earl Jones knew, too, right?
Not necessarily. They probably didn't tell him until the film was basically ready to release.

Mark supports Israel
He had another movie called "Corvette Summer." For a school project he rebuilds this Corvette from a hunk of junk to an awesome street ride in like about 5 minutes. Then it gets stolen and he tries to find it. And it just kinda sucks. & I forget the rest cuz, idk,I think I fell asleep in the theatre. And I woke up right about the time the Death Star explodes and, well nevermind. Star Wars was a lot more fun than Corvette Summer was. Definitely different. But yeah, I think Mark is a pretty good dude.😊
Mark supports Israel? Really?? I think that is just awesome. Because you know Israel was founded not too long after WW2. AND during WW2 this thing called The Holocaust happened where the Nazi's rounded up all the Jews & put them in these camps. And they started killing them in some. And others were made to work until they couldn't any more & were killed or died. And all their money was taken. And all their gold & jewels & land was taken & about 8 million or more were killedl. And Germany invaded Poland & thlen Russia & then the Allies started sending supplies to Russia to help them fight the Germans. And then D-Day happened when the USA, UK & Canada landed on the beaches of Normandy to also fight the Germans. And by the time the Allies made it to Berlin so did the Russians. And that was when Russsia built the Berlin Wall & the Cold War started. OK, now their were all these Jewish people from Poland that no longer had a country because it was now in Russia & behind the Iron Curtain so to speak. And somebody said, "Well, wouldn't it be cool if the Jewish people had their old country back of Israel. And since they couldn't go back to Poland the survivors of the Holocaust reestablished the country of Israel around the Holy City of Jerusalem. And since the Holy City of Jerusalem was also Holy to the Arabs, all the Arabs got mad & tried to make war with Israel. But Israel fought back & won. And now there are people that call themselves Palestinians that claim that Israel took their country away from them. However, the New Country of Israel is also the old country of Israel. Not sure if you ever heard the story of Moses leading the Jewish people out of the slavery of Egypt & into the Promised Land of Israel but you see that's an argument that goes back long before Jesus was born in Bethlaham. And when Jesus was crucified because the Jewish people refused to believe that he was the true Mesiah, it is said that a lot of people hated the Jewish because they caused the true Mesiah to be crucified. But it was the will of Jesus that all people to have forgiveness for their sins by asking his father to forgive them in his name. And so Jesus washed away everyone's sins. Even those of the Jewish faith should they ask for forgiveness in his name. And I believe that the Jewish people have been through enough without catching more & more grief. I also believe that there are very few true Palestinians left & there are plenty of other Arab nations for them to go to & be at peace. Rather than them trying to war against Israel. Back in the 1970's our President Jimmy Carter managed to get a peace Treaty signed by the leaders of Egypt and Israel. And because of that document Egypt recognized the Country of Israel as a nation by itself.
OK children that is it for our History/ religious lesson for the day. Just know that I don't politically support any nation considering that I think politics will ruin your mind & corrupt your soul but only love can break your heart. And by the way, all you college students trying to protest against Israel for the Palestinians, most of your dumb asses might want to do your OWN research instead of believing what you read on social media. These are arguments that caused brutal wars well over 2000 years ago. And considering that the USA & the United Kingdom originally helped & supported the establishment of the New Country of Israel in the same place as the old country of Israel in the aftermath of WW2 because of all of the wrong that was imposed upon the Jewish people during the war it makes our college students appear totally oblivious & ignorant to the history of their own nation.
