I am from Gran Canaria and I can testify the routes you mentioned are awesome, but there are some other circulars worth mentioning (perhaps you haven't done them because you've been staying in the south of the island).
    1. Artenara-Cruz de Tejeda-Tejeda
    2. Artenara-Juncalillo-Presa de Los Pérez-Tamadaba
3.Arucas-Firgas-Moya-Fontanales-Caldera de Los Pinos de Galdar- Valleseco-Teror
    4.Telde-Valle de San Roque-Valsequillo-San Mateo-La Atalaya
    5. Jardín Canario-Las Meleguinas-Santa Brigida-Bandama mountain-Tafira Alta
    6. Valle de Agaete-El Sao
    See you next time around!
All cycling lovers must come to Gran Canaria at least once ❤🚴‍♀️

Katie, your videos are so refreshing. Most cycling related content on TH-cam tells me I have to have disc brakes / a gravel bike / aero etc etc. You just encourage me to ride!

A series devoted to various cycling destinations would be excellent. Thanks for another fine video. PS: Had my first 2023 outdoor ride yesterday … it felt great to be on the road again! 🚴😀

Well my climbing legs are still on back order, welcome back to a cold damp UK. Though next week will be better weather as I'll be back at work as that's usually how it goes.

Hasta luego Katie, I love that you love the canaries for cycling. I live in Tenerife and it’s great to see your videos doing the roads I ride. Come back soon.

Very informative video, Katie. Especially regards the buses/taxis, etc.
The only thing you didn’t cover is how to convince a non cycling spouse to let you travel to GC with your mates! 😂
I’m hoping if my channel takes off, Mrs. T should be a little more open to cycling trips away though. 😉
Thanks for posting and safe travels home. 🛫

Hi Katie, another fantastic series of cycling video's - well done! Unfortunately due to a serious heart condition I'm confined to riding an e-bike nowadays. Me and my wife visit GC all the time and most of the routes you've mentioned we've done on a motorcycle, its absolutely stunning. Keep up the good work.

There’s a «secret» and absolutely SPECTACULAR climb right out of Maspalomas/Playa del Ingles. Unbelievable but true.
It has the same starting point as one route you mentioned, Ayagaures. But instead of heading into the Ayagaures valley, you do the short climb to the El Tablero neighborhood. From there it goes 14.5 km / 700 m further up, up, a few downs, and more ups. Many short steep streches is part of the fun. Great tarmac, almost no traffic. You basically ride on a ridge so views are fantastic. Tarmac ends in the middle of nowhere but from this point you can continue all the way to Ayacata on gravel if you have a bike for it.
For some reason few people know about this road, named GC-604. I rode it first time a week ago. Trust me, it’s superb.

Glad you mentioned the wind. Not sure the weather forecast covers these freak winds.
I have tried getting caught in the wind up on a mountain side with my wife. The strong wind came out of nowhere coming around a switchback it was just there. I had to hold her and the bike to the ground the winds were that strong. On the news later that day we watched rescuers in vans getting caught cyclist safely off the mountain.
If the GC500 in Taurito hasn’t been opened since Dec 2022 staying in Puerto Rico is a bit of a pain.
Otherwise Gran Canaria is a great place for going up or down, never flat, and it has a year-round season.
I agree use Free Motion Bikecenter for renting the bike you need. They are placed throughout the southern part. Also they have service point at many restaurants and cafes.

Me and my 15 year old son went out to Gran Canaria in February cycling and we had a great time! (mainly off the back of your videos so thankyou so much). Definitely going to head out again. We stayed in Maspalomas, but would probably stay up the coast next time. Would you recommend an Air B'nB please?

odd thing to mention maybe, but have a think about if you've got a head for heights or not before going cycling around GC.
I stayed in Puerto De Mogan and have SERIOUS issues with heights, like total paralysis, losing all balance etc and some of the roads (GC-606, GC-605) I just couldn't handle and had to turn around...absolutely gutted because they are some of the best climbs and scenic roads ive ever seen, but if youre like me (hopefully not!!) you'll have some real problems!

Hi Katie, I love watching your videos and the insights into riding on your own, But I have a very important question for you what model giro helmet are you waring in this video ? I wear a giro synth model and it needs replacing and I like the look of the one you have on. Could you please reply to this with the model. regards Ian.

Thanks for sharing the information. The climbing there seems daunting...challenging. Does Free Motion rent climbing legs?
On a serious note, what Air BnB service does one use to find places to stay. I like to cook, so I usually book extended stay hotels that feature kitchens. Never booked an Air BnB so any advice is appreciated.

Series? How about the Turkish Mediterranean coast. Met my wife 20 yrs ago and did a 6 month honeymoon by bus from Iskenderun (earthquake area) to Datca on the SW end of Anatolia peninsula. How about Capadocia? Or Pamukale? Turkiye needs visitors like you! I have a single brother-in-law!!!

    Katie,
I have spent time in both Gran Canaria and Mallorca, and like Mallorca more I think.
Which do you think is the better value for cycling, Mallorca is cheaper in flights and in air time 2 hr flight compared to a 4 ????

Did you have a rental car? As you were saying busses are really good there, did you take the public bus from airport to airbnb? I used to do Tenerife twice and both times with rental car, but GC is a bit smaller so maybe it will work without? As one climb most days is enough for me, would be really interesting if buses are working also with bikes. Thanks

Good, useful info so for that, thanks. May I suggest a little more planning of your presentation (jot down the key points then refer to them) so that you avoid sounding, at times, as if you're winging it. Respectfully, and linked to the latter comment, please economise on using the word "also"!
