    Hi mate, I haven't watched the entire video yet but I can definitely say I appreciate the lack of rude language. It is too common in young Aussies videos, I'm a young Australian also, but it's good to still keep our speech clean and respectful, and definitely when we are posting up for all ages and nationalities to see. video was informative and I'm planning on doing the same to my dad's boat, but full height pods. Thank you for the video, I appreciate it.

      Thanks for the comment mate 🙏🏻 appreciate it. I try to edit out any bad language where possible.

    Wow, as someone who has never even thought of trying to do any fibreglassing, I really enjoyed watching you do this. It seems like you really need to just be patient and poke along, plus have all the equipment to do the job and in the end you have the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself. Well done it come up great.

      Thanks mate 🤙 I’m wrapped with how it all come out, it’s nice and stable now too. I can tell you from experience it’s definitely more enjoyable watching it 😂

    Pods great ! Help support 4 stroke motor , extra bouncy at the sides of the motor improves stability the downside of a deep V hull is deep bouncy along the Center line of the boat makes it unstable at rest . Pods do increase the boiant length of a boat so it’s worth looking at the rego length of a given boat , rego goes up in steps , so if a boat is just under the next length limit ( price ) adding pods could cost, but from memory they go from 16 ft to 22 ft ( don’t quote me , check ) that sort of step so most boats don’t have a problem and the cost isn’t that much for not having your motor constantly swamped , great job cheers

      Great comment mate. Really helps cover a lot of information I haven’t covered in the video. 👍 definitely one of those additions where the pros well out weigh the cons.

      I was wrapped with how it turned out. Way better at rest in the rougher weather when we took it up north. 👌

    I want to do the same on my little 14ft twin V. Great video! What did you use for the strengthening ribs inside the pods?

    • @BrisVegasFishing
      @BrisVegasFishing  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I actually shaped up my own ribs out of foam and then just glassed em in. Just for that bit of added strength on the hull side.

    Great video mate. I have a 12ft fibreglass dinghy that squats at the back and I'd been toying with the idea of pods - you convinced me!
    Couple of 'duh' questions....
    What are the panels you used? And I'm guessing you used Polyester resin, not Expoxy? Cheers from NZ

    • @BrisVegasFishing
      @BrisVegasFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks mate. Glad to have helped ya out there. 👍 can’t remember exactly what the foam was called, but it’s a high density closed cell foam. And yeah it was just a polyester resin I used. Best of luck with it though, I definitely enjoyed the process and the added advantages myself 👌

      I just bought a 12’ glass dinghy and I’m a large man so thinking of adding buoyancy and stability with pods.

  • @potatoesGDITB
    @potatoesGDITB ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Could adding pods push you into a different overall boat length classification for rego?

    • @BrisVegasFishing
      @BrisVegasFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah definitely could if you’re boats already on the edge of being in the next class up. So always something to consider.

      @BrisVegasFishing just use brush and rollers. Seen people do it and still looks OK. Great at a distance lol

    Hey mate, just wondering if the pods are strong enough to support a persons weight while on the trailer or climbing from the water into the boat? Considering doing this to my boat but just wondering if I need to use an internal mounted stainless bracket or a marine ply for the structure of the pod?

    • @BrisVegasFishing
      @BrisVegasFishing  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh yeah they’re definitely strong enough to climb up on while the boats on the trailers. Glassing the pod from the inside as well as the outside is more than enough to secure it to the transom.

    How does the boat perform compared to before ,speed ,cornering ,stability ,I was going to comment when the video dropped but I thought I would wait till you had some time on the water ,I am rebuilding a boat at the moment and was considering the same ,how long are the pods from fore to aft

    • @BrisVegasFishing
      @BrisVegasFishing  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So speed has maintained, however you can stay up on the plane at lower speeds. Stability definitely improved as well within reason, it is only a 4.6m boat. Cornering definitely worsened but that was to be expected. I believe we made the pods about 450x450 square, can’t remember off the top of my head sorry. 😅 also sorry I didn’t see your comment earlier too.

    • @adamtolley5739

      Good to hear I have a 4.6 m I am looking g at doing g it as we are going from a 2 stroke 90 to a 4 stroke 90 ,

  • @AlexanderTheGrateful

    Looks like it interferes with the motor when tilting up and steering turned,
    Not sure if I’m a fan of things potentially hitting my prop or getting something wedged
    Also not sure what the purpose of the pods are in the first place?
    Just curious
    Cheers

    • @BrisVegasFishing
      @BrisVegasFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      During the mock up phase we made sure there was gonna be clearance around the outboard. So there’s no dramas there. The purpose of the pods though is to lift the transom up creating more stability at rest. Then when you’re travelling there’s less load on the outboard to get up on the plane. Plus you don’t have to be travelling as fast to keep up on the plane. So in rough weather it makes a big difference.

    • @AlexanderTheGrateful
      @AlexanderTheGrateful ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@BrisVegasFishing yeah that makes sense mate, from the video it looks like it would hit while tilted up,
      I didn’t realise those small pods would make that much of a difference. If anything I assumed it would create more drag as there is more hull in the water while on a plane
      Nice work, looks factory
      Cheers

    • @BrisVegasFishing
      @BrisVegasFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlexanderTheGrateful yeah the video definitely makes it look like the motor would come close to hitting. Thanks for the comment. Always nice to hear people’s thoughts. 🤙

    Hi, how much benefit do you think you gained? Would it compensate for 50lts of spare fuel or do you think more like 80kg or 100kg benefit? Also are you doing repairs for others?

    Hey mate what was your reasoning for building the pods
    I’m thinking of building a set for my 5.02 streaker to help stop it tipping at rest

    • @BrisVegasFishing
      @BrisVegasFishing  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mainly extra stability at rest when offshore, but also to aid with cruising on the plane at lower speeds in choppy weather and added buoyancy. 👌

    WELL done.👍Just trust your instincts and keep going. You got this far being resourceful and putting yourself out there to be criticized, but hey.....that's why we keep coming back 😮. Your doing stuff we all wanna do or try, but are to reluctant to commit to until we learnt "how to" from following your adventures. 🤔 Great to see your dad kicking in 😎👍. Just keep going 👏

    hi mate, i have watch the entire video more than one time and i am really interested to do the project on my boat but prior to start i would like to ask you some question were ever is these possible?

    • @NoelSpiteri-n1n
      @NoelSpiteri-n1n 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      pods need to be flat with the boat hull or a little bit more elevated to avoided interfere with boat planning.
      other important thing i have in mind to bold it to the transom and then sealed it is that a good idea?

    • @BrisVegasFishing
      @BrisVegasFishing  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah try and get them as level with the hull as possible, even a bit shy of the hull is good. That way there’s no drag or interference in the plane. I used glass bog for initially sticking them too the transom, but I did a double lay up on the inside and outside afterwards to hold em to the transom.

      pods makes the rear end of the boat float better which stops the outboard motor from sitting low and improves the stability of the boats while going fast by having low hull . and other people like to have big pods so they stand on them while fishing or while getting a big catch into the boat .

  • @refl3xun_named684
    @refl3xun_named684 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    i dont know why but i cant stand boats with no pods . there is something special about jigging while you re standing on them .
