It’s nice to finally find a fellow Southern Ohioan. I love gardening both flowers and vegetables. I am currently in the home stretch of building a beautiful greenhouse using old windows. I’ve been looking for a channel with someone who has the same climate so their tips and tricks are more meaningful to my area. I love all your ideas. I struggle to plant bulbs and tubers though because I always want the instant satisfaction of seeing flowers when I plant something😂🤷♀️The struggle is real😂My husband asked me how much I thought I spent on flowers this year. I said do you really want the answer to that? He said “Probably not” and walked away lol.😂 If I go to Lowe’s for anything at all then I ALWAYS need a plant too🤷♀️I’m about 10 trips in with it being “The last plants I’m buying this year”😊
Haha!! 🤣 YES! Exactly the same here!! I’m the person who buys plants on vacation for souvenirs and makes frequent stops after work to Lowe’s because you never know what could be on the clearance rack today. 🤣 The greenhouse sounds amazing! I have a small greenhouse made out of cattle panels and plastic. I’ve been trying to convince my husband that I need a bigger greenhouse because I always run out of room. He says if I had a bigger one, I still wouldn’t have room, I’d just buy more plants. 🤷🏼♀️🤣 And he’s probably right. Lol
Thank you for sharing your tips, I can certainly relate as I do all of the above you mentioned. At our cottage is a bigger land and it was a blank slate when I started and now the neighbors would literally stop and complements how beautiful my flowers are and a lot of them hehehehe!!!!. I'm from the Pacific island and you can imagine but I garden in zone 5 Montreal, Quebec Canada, what a big shock relearning what plants that is perennial for my zone lol. We are kindred spirit.
You did good!! Don't you just love having beautiful things and not having to pay top dollar for them? I certainly do, and have bought varieties of plants myself from clearance (50-75% off), and they're still growing strong, with many having been divided for even more plants. It's the best way to fill your flower beds with amazing plants, and not breaking the bank. Plus if and when you see something in particular that you really really want, you don't feel guilty paying full price for it. Lovely border you have created, and the colors are stunning!
Thank you!! Yes, I totally agree! Once I discovered the clearance rack shopping, I rarely pay full price for perennials. I just check often, hoping the plants that I have on my wish list will be there. Haha
Wow Jami, great informative video! I love all your beautiful flowers! Goes to show you, you don’t need to spend a fortune on flowers to have a beautiful flower bed! 🌸
Beautiful flowerbed, Its the bees knees. We made our four flowerbeds bigger in 2020 and divided the perennial plants in the old flowerbeds to expand the flower beds. We are lucky that we have a 8ft x 6ft glasshouse that we bought on a sale fifteen years ago and we grow annuals and perennials from seed and give the plants to family and friends.
Thank you! That’s wonderful that you have a space to start plants and share with others. I also have a small 8x8 greenhouse that my husband built me out of cattle panels and I love it, I just wish it was bigger. 😂
Hi Jami...just found your channel! I love your channel! I garden in 7b and have a lot of hydrangeas too and shop for plants very much the same way as you. I did just direct seed some Zinnia seeds and have never done that. Wish me luck!!! I have a lot of dahlias too. I left mine in the ground for the past 3 years and so far they keep coming back.😊 Your gardens are beautiful!!!! Thank you for sharing with us all! ❤
Awe thank you so much! You are so sweet! 🩷 I have direct sown zinnias for several years in my vegetable garden for the pollinators and they have been so so easy to grow that way as well. I’m sure they will do great in your garden and be beautiful. 😊
Oh yes, thank you! I forgot about that one! I have also used cuttings to get a few plants. It’s not something I have done a lot of tho, but something I probably should do more often. 😄
Always enjoy your budget friendly video you put together and so much inspiration for all of us. Hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy and Debbie. Keep up those awesome videos coming my way.
Hi jami, where are u located? Im also zone 6b in Ontario canada.i have never tried overwintering mu dahlias but this year im thinking to try to do that.i normally lift them in fall time..great video.i do all the tips you just mentions..❤❤thanks..faye
Hi Faye, I’m located in southern Ohio. I actually discovered this by sheer accident one year. I did nothing with them one fall, and discovered the following spring 80% of them came back. 😄 So now I just always leave them in the ground every fall. So much less work that way too. 😄
It is supposed to be a Purple Dream Lily, as described on the tag when I purchased them. But one issue I found with purchasing bulbs in the bags, is that the plant doesn’t always match the tag. The Purple Dream Lily is a deep purple and mine are light pink/purple, so I’m honestly not sure the exact variety, but I think they are still beautiful either way. 😄
Too repetitive, over and over and over again about sharing the tips. Succinct advice, don’t underestimate your audience, we got it the first time you said it
@Anonymously4051 I apologize that you felt that I was too repetitive. I am completely new to making TH-cam videos. Growing flowers and plants is what I’m good at, public speaking is definitely not one of my strong points. 😬 But I hope with time and practice that I will only get better. Haha Talking into a camera for the world to see, is so much more awkward than I ever imagined that it would be. And this was only my 3rd video. So if you have any tips for me on how you were able to get comfortable in front of the camera and with making such great TH-cam videos, I’d love to hear them. 🩷 Thank you and I hope you have a blessed day!! I have used some of the tips for my garden also. I am happy when I see something growing that I have started or saved from the landfill.
Great information.

Fantastic job! What’s the variety name of the red roses at 1:15?
Thank you! They are knock out roses.
I'm growing everything I can from seed or doormant bulb
It’s such a money saver!

Is that an Orienpet Giant Lily? (at the beginning)

It might be an Elodie Lily, that’s what it looked like to me. 😊

Hey try a better way of communicating that
You aren't wrong, but your tone reads harsh.
