Jenia is the GOAT libero.
I dont think he is the best of all time, but he is in top 3
Serginho laughted at your comment
His play style is crazy, as a Libero myself I can tell you this guy is pretty special, he isn’t necessarily fast on his feet but he has insane reflexes and reaction time with his arms and hands, he plays most of the time with a lot of thought to his footwork but he makes his hands work as freely as he can so they would dig the ball with instincts, it gives him the ability to dig the ball when it comes to his right of left because he is confident with his 1 arm digs, truly amazing, and truly liberal with his play style
Lots of great liberos today but he's the most entertaining libero to watch. His defense is unique compared to others.
Look at yamamoto, he's quite good too
What unique footwork. I think what he does is, first, cover a lot of ground by being in position for the most likely location where the hitter will hit, and then secondly moving his feet to where the hitter is actually hitting if the hitter changes his mind. For example, he will cover tips on an oppo, but if he realizes the oppo is hitting line instead, he will quickly backpedal to be in position to respond to the line hit. That’s such a cool technique rather than to plant and commit, which is what most liberos do (which is only his first step). He creates the option to cover the second option too, and that’s just really cool to see.
Upon reflection, I’d say most defensive players will opt to cover the hit first and then dive for the tip if necessary. He has enough trust in his twitch-movements and control to cover tip first and hit secondly, if that is the read.
Ofc this is me speaking more generally, but I think this concept is something I will use to try and improve my defense a lot more. What amazing and fun defense

Can we talk about how much better France could be if they had an average setter? This setter isn‘t really cutting it
