    Sunday is the 7th and last day of the week. And the week starts on Monday.

    • @e.e.e

      This is true! American calendars drive me bonkers with starting on Sunday. WTF?? I mean Sunday is weekEND, not week start. WHO ordered USA calendars all wrong like that?! After so many decades seeing wrong USA calendars, I finally changed my phone to NORMAL European calendar starting at Monday. The problem is I'm so used to seeing the wrong dates on the calendar that I started messing up and missing appts UGH! Also I'm not religious but it makes like God was a lazy *ss and slept the first day, then on Tuesday he figures, "Man! I have to work now? Oh I'm late, let's make the 2nd day Monday!" LOL! Makes the mythology of that religion all askew.

    Thanks for another great video. May I ask that you ponder putting a video together with away to remember the grades that a student will obtain (A,B,C,D,F) also how the numbers are used for a person in 1st grade, 2nd grade etc as well as the words for a "class of kids" and "he is in 5th class/grade, also how to say specific text books eg a physics text book a history text book, a text book to learn Russian chinese, english etc. Sorry if I am asking for too much, but your style is easy to follow and I am getting these numbers and terms mixed up and I wouls appreciate any help that you feel like offering.

    • @Russianlanguage

    • @evets1709
      @evets1709 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Russianlanguage Hi thanks for replying. )) 1) My son is in fourth grade (In Australia this could also be said My son is in fourth class 2) Where can I find a Russian textbook (as in - learning Russian) 3) Where can I find a Russian textbook (as in a text book written in Russian) 4) Hi class, what would you like to study today? (class here is referring to the group of students that are in front of the teacher who is asking this question) 5) the class is going on an excursion today 6) There are 4 classes in 5th grade 7) Where is the class room for naughty students? (I was always in that room))))) ..... ) 8) He got an "A" in physics 9) She got a "B" in literature 10) Chinese find it difficult to learn English 11) Australians find it so much fun to learn Russian 12) I came fourth in the class in biology
      ..
      I hope that these examples explain what I am having difficulty with (along with cases, conjugation, plurals, declination ha ha ..... but even though i find every day a challenge, I have fallen in love with this beautiful language and I never want to stop learning it )))

    • @evets1709
      @evets1709 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adding to those examples, I think that the difference between learn and teach is он учит + accuiative (eg physics, literature, english ect) = he is learning (something) and он учит + dative (eg physics, literature, english etc) английский (learning) / английскому ??spelling (teaching) Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong --- but then What happens if it is NOT a noun for example he is learning to fly or he is teaching how to fly

    TRY TELLING A JEW IN ANY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD THAT SUNDAY IS THE SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEKK!
    WHEN I LIVED IN GERMANY AND TAUGHT ENGLISH THERE, SUNDAY SHOWED UP ON THEIR CALENDARS
    AS THE SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK. I POINTED OUT TO MY STUDENTS THAT WEDNESDAY IN GERMAN
    IS CALLED MITTWOCH, WHICH MEANS "MIDDLE OF THE WEEK", WITH THREE DAYS PRECEDING IT AND
    THREE DAYS FOLLOWING IT, THEREFORE THE FOURTH DAY OF THE WEEK, WHICH WOULD MAKE SATURDAY
    THE SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK. THEN I WOULD HAVE THEM LOOK UP AND READ THE DEFINITION IN A
    GERMAN DICTIONARY OF SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, WHICH ALWAYS SURPRISED THEM, SINCE SUNDAY WAS
    DEFINED AS THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK, AND SATURDAY AS THE SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK.

    Спасибо за интересные идеи. Однако, некоторые вещи не очень работают, например ВТОРНИК - в английском нет слова Ftor, фтор будет fluorine, поэтому комбинация Ftor-Nick не работает. Тоже проблема со СРЕДОЙ. Sri Lanka произносится как [shri lanka], что не соответствует первому звуку в русском [c]. Это немного сбивает с толку, а в остальном очень любопытно. Хотя, недели выучить совсем не трудно, так как они коррелируют с количественными числительными и я бы лучше обращала внимание студентов на знакомые корни. А мнемонику отлично применять там, где не на что больше опереться в запоминании, как например словообразование. Спасибо!

    One more question please Nastya. What have you found to be the most effective method for people trying to learn to communicate in Russian to bridge the huge gap between knowing some words and actually understanding and speaking with people. Every time I try, i seem to just keep on getting mixed up or even not being able to use basic answers (eg. I was asked как дела and I could not even put that answer together. I just seemed to freeze up)

    • @Russianlanguage
      @Russianlanguage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It’s all about communicating a lot and not be shy or afraid to make mistakes. Mistakes are our friends in the learning language process. Also you have to learn a language in as many ways as you can. Like reading, watching movies, doing grammar exercises, listening to music etc.

    I was on another tab and I kept hearing you say "ear, ear'! LOL! You forget to prounounce the Y for YEAR! Try this: Yi-err. (Don't worry: I'm not native anglophone either!) I would love to learn Russian but it takes me more than 1 week to memorize 1 word (short term memory loss from bad medication) & after I got it, today I could not remember "Monday" and many other days. I thought Vasskrayssiayniyay was Monday! >.< Russian is too hard (too many strange syllables together) and COMPLICATED!!
    Ex: I put one verb on Google Translate and it gives me the Russian word. I switch with the arrow eng/ru to ru/eng and now the word has completely changed on me. Russian has like 7 or 10 different words for one same word! Too hard: I can't even remember the first word. HOW am I supposed to learn 10 words for 1 normal word? I can't even remember a TV show after I watched it or if I watched it at all!
    Also every verb has 2 forms (im//perfective) and I can't make heads or tails of declensions because no one has ever explained them to me well, at all! So I have no idea what to use because on top of that EVERY declension changes, not only with case (usage) but with plural, singular, fem or masc. To make matters worse, the plural changes. It's not S like in English. Sometimes you add ii at the end sometimes you add A and sometimes you remove end vowels like in CLOB! UGH! IMPOSSIBLE TO REMEMBER unless you're native born. I gave up 40 yrs ago and I give up now. I guess with handheld translators, no one needs to learn Russian anymore, you can just type or talk into your phone, press a button and presto! Play it back to the Russian person, LOL!

    • @e.e.e
      @e.e.e 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      FORGOT! To make matters worse, on top of all I wrote, the declensions ALSO TAKE EXCEPTIONS! It is insane!!! WHO invented the Russian language?? I can't figure out why the planet needs to have so many languages or HOW they ever developed! It's like one sound you make with your mouth cannot be the same in every country in the world? UGH!!! WHY!??! LOL! And yes, I am a polyglot I already speak enough languages as it is. But lately it dawned on me: one mouth, one sound, should mean the same thing no matter which location the human you're talking to is at! Languages make no sense to me, lately!
