It depends on where you live. This report was in Massachusetts so I'm assuming that their materials and labor are higher than some parts of the country.
Where is the State in all of this??? I'm sure Mass has HUGE hurdles to become a licensed contractor, they should at LEAST be investigating to consider pulling his license - then he would be out of business.
Most contractors will take your deposit and use it to complete their last job. Never give more than $1000 deposit and only pay for materials and labor after they are delivered to your job site. This from a prefessional remodeling contractor...
ive seen alot of big companies do this stuff to there customers, they make customers wait months before services start usually most time due to they dont have the installers or waiting for a sub to pick up that job. its kinda a bad rap for the people doing good business. i was gonna make a similar group years ago, for bad customers who dont pay or horrible to deal with. already have a contractors group set up for our area to help people have more reputable contractors.
So let me get this straight... She went to social media and ended up getting her money back, all of it. Then, if you watched the video... people took him to small claims court and won, and didn't get a dime from him. But she is stupid and got all her money back and the people who took him to court and got nothing back are smart? Good logic.

He should be arrested for fraud.
alot big companies should be, even our government! they all commit fraud.
It's time for some type of justice to be handed out for companies that do this. Where is the Better Business Bureau?
Those steps look the same kind that I got 2 years ago, put in for $500, plus $200 to remove and take away the old ones, $2500, is kind of steep.
