- I have heard from so many of you all that you want to be a volleyball Libero! A volleyball libero is a very specialized volleyball position that requires both skill and hard work. I have known so many great liberos in my life that have been both fantastic players and people! Liberos have very special rules that they abide by and we are going to go over them in this video. I want you all to learn more about the positions more so I will be starting a new series that will help you learn more in-depth about each and every position. If the Libero is a position that you want to play, take your time to watch this video and learn more about it! Just began playing and I really want to be be a libero
I started playing in the beginning of my 7th grade year!~ (I just finished 7th) I really want to be a libero because I really admire how they can control the ball so well, and that they’re a position you can count on :) (the different jersey color is super cool as well!)

I really want to learn to play volleyball so when I can go back to school I can join the volleyball club so I made a goal; as soon as school is over I’m going to train almost everyday to play volleyball and work for the position of Libero because Ive always wanted to be a Libero. these are all the reasons why I wanted to be a libero before I became a setter! i found it so much fun to be the one making that awesome dig and receives their so underrated and before I switched to be a setter it was so much fun jumping over the line and make a libero set!

I have been playing volleyball since I was 4 and I’m 12 years old at the moment and I always wanted to be a Libero, I have worked really hard during quarantine and I called with my teacher and she said I did really good and she thinks I will definitely be a libero cause I can hit really hard things to hit and my teacher puts me Im the back row when we use to play games and i could get the ball to our setter I can read the ball pretty well

I’m short so being a Libero is pretty much my only option. And no, I can’t do crazy vertical jumps like those professionals. I can receive and have fast reflexes. Plus, the position seems fun. I’m going to join my first travel volleyball team by august.

Gotta say, I can relate. I've been trained to be a Libero since 4th grade so I can proudly say that my skill's above average (not gonna brag). My family literally speaks and breaths Volleyball, Table tennis, and Badminton. Just because you're short doesn't mean that the only role that you can play in Volleyball is being a Libero, you can become a Spiker and a Middle blocker and just practice.

Hiiii, I recently have really been into volleyball because of haikyuu. I’m currently in 8th grade and am planning to tryout for freshmen year. I don’t know what role is best for me yet but I think I would make a good setter. If anyone has good advice please let me know
I'm going to try out freshman year as well! I was told that new players tend to be hitters so you'll probably start there but you might get another position. Make sure to exercise over the summer and practice so your ready for try outs!
ahh same! i’ve never played before so i’m trying to learn as much as possible before tryouts.
My advice is don't chose a 'position' just yet, try to learn all the skills to be well rounded

I used to be a good sever ( one time i did a complete set, just serving ) but now im not that good, so i want to be libero ( like nishinoya, cus im also short, but i also want to be like hinata who plays middle blocker, but is a decoy, also short) but i mostly want to be a libero :3

for a long period in my life i always saw volleyball as just another sport that we played in PE. it wasn’t until recently that i i fell in love with the sport. i almost immediately realized i wanted to play libero, but not because of my height. (i’m 5’2”) i want to play libero because i love the position but also i love receiving the most. i also may be bad at the sport, but i’m best at receiving. during quarantine i’ve been trying to practice and also watch other liberos play the sport. (if anyone had any advice for me it’d be greatly appreciated!!) when school starts, i’m going to try out for the libero position! i’m still working on other skills too incase i don’t get the position because i still want a chance to play.

the fact that it's okay to be short for the libero position is so motivating because I was really feeling discouraged since im very short. I was upset because i doubt ill ever be able to be a spiker but I am interested in libero. thanks for this video

So, confession. When I was a teenager I wore 'hip pads' under my spandex because I was so bony and it hurt to fall! Maybe try that! It looks weird but helps you dive with no fear!

honestly, i just dive on instinct. whenever i see the ball about to fall onto the floor and no one is getting it, my legs move on their own and i just dive. it’s weird but watch videos on diving and there’s good tiktoks about diving as well :)

this help a lot bcs i might need to quit gymnastics and or sailing wich i dont want to quit BUT if i need to quit gymnastics thanks to my body not being able to hande that anymore i want to do volleyball and i was thinking about the libero posisions bcs in all ball games for school im always in the back catching loose balls and i brokking (depending on the game) adn welp me iz SHORT but that doesnt matter

I'm 5'3 as a wing spiker, there's nothing wrong with being 5'1. if you keep jumping, your hight and jumping strength will improve

Hi, Coach Koko, I love your videos. Your videos are very useful and have really helped me become confident in playing volleyball. Keep up the good work.
Well, I have wanted to become a libero but I am literally the tallest player on my team, and one of the best attackers so the libero position won't be easy for me to get. Secondly, I can't dive properly, I am a decent passer (not great, but decent), and when I do have to get to the ball by falling on the ground I am slow, because once again I am tall, therefore shorter players can easily get to the ball much faster. Also, I love attacking, and blocking. It feels so great to get a kill, or a big block therefore I wouldn't want to give that up. The position I play is middle blocker, but I really want to try playing right-side hitter, because I am lefty and I think I will be able to get more kills, and blocks.

I ask my teacher if there was Volleyball team in our school because I want to be a Libero she said she's not sure and we talk about volleyball then I learn that she was a Libero before! And she said I would be a great Libero that give me so much confidence and inspiration to learn more about volleyball I'm so happy!
My friend convinced me to try volleyball. I'm pretty short for my grade, and my vertical is not good what-so-ever, so I wouldn't be good for offense. I'm pretty fast I must say, and she thinks I would be the best at libero. I'm going to practice with her for the first time tomorrow, and this gave me quite a bit of motivation! Gonna be watching this video over and over.
For everyone who hasn’t played volleyball don’t expect to be good on your first try it takes years to master skills for any position ( even pro volleyball players practiced for years to be where they are now but even they still have things to improve on). Be willing to try new things and if something doesn’t work out for you don’t give up or be discouraged. I wish you all good luck on tryouts.

I always felt like taking just a bit of time to learn chest for this position! And it’s so weird cause it’s understandable. In chess it’s all about reading the other player and strategy. Knowing where the chest pice is going and what to do next. It’s such a simple game to learn and I 100% recommend taking a little bit of time to learn it. It’s helped me a lot with reading the ball as a Libero
Honestly, I’ve always been into volleyball, but after not making the club team in November 2019, I was devastated. I went to the clinics that they invited me to, but still no spark. Until, back in early April, I started watching Haikyuu. I’m obsessed with it. And now that spark has been ignited once again. The only difference is, I’m not comparing myself to other players at my school, and only focussing on my abilities and getting better. I now have people that I can practice with and people who have given me advice. It’s really thanks to Haikyuu, and my best friend for recommending it, that I wanted to play again.
before my school season ended, my coach recommended to learn about libero because of my skills, he said “i believe all your skills are amazing but throughout the season you have been playing as a libero with out knowing you were” i was confused until he said “i have faith in you as any position, but you would be a amazing libero” i didn’t really know what libero was until i started fully practicing as a libero and learning about the position. i now enjoy being a libero:) i’m thankful my coach told me that.

Most sports I play, I'm on backline defense. I knew from the start that I'm not very good at being up front, so it looks like a fun position to play. Also, after I saw highlights of Dawn Macandili, I was so hyped. She inspired me so much, but I don't mind playing any position that I'm given.

I think I do want to be a libero because that feeling when you dig a really hard ball, it feels like you're shutting down the other team's offense and having all your teammates' backs, BUT THEN AGAIN that feeling when you hit a ball really hard and the other team fails to recieve it feels soo good, BUT THEN AGAIN that feeling when you set a ball perfectly to the spiker and they nail it because of you, I could go on but this is why I haven't decided yet (I play middle-school volleyball)
I wanna be a Libero SO BAD. It’s so cool! Someone from the other team hits the ball over the net and you think they’re about to score a point, but at the last moment, the Libero comes in and saves it, hitting it back into the air. ITS SO FUCKING COOL
