YYZ is the morse code call sign for the Toronto airport. Alex had a pilots license and when the band was coming in for a landing, Neil loved the rhythm of the morse code. The opening beat is the morse code for the airport. They know that when they saw that on their bags, they were on their way home. It's a great song about the joy of coming home after a long tour.
This video was a story based around the album cover art for "Moving Pictures", the 1981 album where this song is found. Google the album cover and you will see the characters in this cartoon as real people in the cover photo. IMPORTANT: also make sure that you Google the BACK of the album, which is an extension of the cover. The images are a "triple-entendre": on the front you see the moving men literally moving the pictures, while being watched by several people who are overcome with emotion over those pictures (being "moved" by those emotionally "moving" pictures.) Flip the album over and the whole scene is shown in larger scale with lights and cameras, thus they are making a MOVING PICTURE of the men MOVING those "MOVING" pictures. Rush has a famously goofy sense of humor !
For the _Time Machine_ tour one of the cut scenes features Rash trying to make a music video, but the director (played by Geddy Lee) is distracted by Bavarian barmaids carrying beer back and forth. He tells them, "Ladies, stop moving pitchers!"
YYZ is good for the stereo speakers. The heck with the neighbors...crank it up!!! And..... the Live in Rio performance....(you'll see Neil toss the drum sticks up and catch them too) ....the fans are literally jumping in unison... And humming parts of the song. Anyways...gr8 choice!!!

I have seen over 100 live performances in person and I have NEVER seen ANYTHING that comes close to the energy put out by the crowd in Rio.

The kimonos are an inside joke of the band. Back in the seventies they had to do a photoshoot and they didn't know what to wear to look like a band and they were in Chinatown in families come on out and it was a ridiculous picture
