The knowledge of their life on the boat, the mechanics of everything, what they had to do to prepare, the skills they had to learn; it is all so impressive and the way that they appreciate the life they live is refreshing to see. They also work well together; by far, one of my most favourite TH-cam couples.
The unspoken: marry someone who shares your goals and dreams. If you don’t, you’ll end up watching TH-cam videos of others living your goals and dreams.
Thank you Nick & Terysa for letting us into your wonderful world. When I tell my children and my grandchildren there’s a better way all I have to do is point to you two. Stay thirsty my friends.
Nick and Terysa good for you!! Humans were meant to be explorers and adventurers! Glad to see someone else going for it!! I used to own a 48ft Grand Banks and lived aboard for 7 years. It was the happiest 7 years of my life. Completely fulfilled! There is something about the connection between us, and living on top of water... it's really great!
Terysa is so naturally beautiful. I love seeing a woman who is comfortable in her own skin and wearing no makeup (or very little). Peace, love and blessings to you both.
I really enjoyed my 7 years of sailboat living and cruising (singlehanded) including a 3 year, 40,000 mile circumnavigation in the high latitudes. Awesome lifestyle and you meet the most interesting, like minded folks.
We moved from the US to Mexico - I feel like the biggest challenge to the whole effort was getting out of our house! Selling all our stuff, selling our house was so stressful and it took us about 18months to get out of all our responsibilities. We took my ill Mother with us so that was extra burden - getting her out of her apartment, selling her stuff, etc... I am so grateful we did it - no regrets.
Good for you!! I loved how you were able to break the shackles and set sail. We live in a conditioned society and it's easy to think there is only one way to live. Each to their own... and I love yours.
The world is changing and I see folks in many communities all searching for a new way to be happy. Living on the edges of some well defined communities. The tiny home community, the Van lifers and those who take to the sea. All seeking a better journey, a better road to travel and more options to enjoy. Nomads all...seekers of the real glue which challenges us all... a life tethered to a regular job which does little to nourish the soul and the spirit...( yes, two different things), is hollow and it's reward must be paid to a bank and not ourselves (in the USA)...which leads to many other questions... is futility. But a life where you must pray for wisdom, excercise strength of character, draw on strong work ethic and mastery of self to draw out the best in one another..where dependence is NOT a dirty word! THAT!...that is a full life and it is it's own reward! When studying perma-culture I learned..."the MOST interesting things happen on the EDGES of things" ...the edge of the woods, a meadow. a brook ...the edge of the ocean...the world...or where the sun drops into the water each evening where it quenches it's thirst and bring out an explosion of stars to steer a ship by! Edges!!!
I have been following these guys from day 1. If you haven't watched their channel, do it, you won't be disappointed. They are informative and funny as hell...... one of the absolute best channels out out there!
Wow, five years at sea! That takes stamina and determination. I love Nick; a Brit/Euro who speaks in miles as opposed to kilometers! Your yacht is very nice as well. Kudos to you both for pursuing your dream and thanx for sharing! Happy Holidays!
Very interesting story, I actually did pay attention to details and tried to understand why this couple did what they do . Very remarkable how two people find enough patience with each other. Most of us are wishing to live this life style but never move forward. Nicely done , thanks. Great weather and smooth sailing to you :)
A really good production. There was no stuttering, you stated what you needed to say concisely. I’ve been following you for for a month or so, did the binge. I think you are the best couple “sailing” on You Tube. Fair winds and following seas always!
Love your videos, Nick & Terysa! Thank you very much for sharing with the rest of the land dwellers. I have 7 years to go to live your lifestyle (11 year old son)!!! I can't wait until I purchase a sailboat and sail around the world. All the best!
Dear Mat & Danielle I have Just One Word for You Both " Wow " This is from My Heart You Both are Really Worth Respect You are not just living, in My Way, You Both are Adding Remarkable Value to The Life Keep Continue Your Valuable Life-Changing & Mesmerizing Work Thank You
Thank you for sharing! It's great to see all of the challenges with the freedom. It puts things in perspective so much better than I've seen anywhere else. Safe travels!!!!
I just need to say that this was very well filmed. Most sailboat tours, it's like the cameraman doesn't understand how to step back and show the environment. The owners take up 80% of every frame, unless they're giving a close up of some pointless detail. I don't want close ups; I want to see the living space and get a feel for what it's really like!
Love seeing Ruby Rose highlighted here! Really good video! These two are definitely living the dream. This alternative lifestyle is the most compelling yet.
Great video- I’ve watched you guys it inspired me to take the leap as well, although I’m solo. 42’ Catalina Mk2- two months on board & it is honestly life changing in countless positive ways, THANK YOU for the muse & inspiration!
Have just happened across your video. I think you guys are amazing. I am 60 years old and have a special needs son so this outlet is not for me, but your outlet is!!! I cannot wait to follow your adventures. Beautifully filmed and very well edited. Thank you and keep it going...Harry and Ant Xx
The Ruby Rose crew, Let me say this you guys are marvelous the combination of Love adventure action and passion makes you unique and a daily challenge this video is very instructive I express my happiness and wish you happiness and love as your both very inspiring not too mention a beautiful sailing home. Montreal, Canada guy here.
I'm very sure they are touching a lot of lives with this. They are doing so much for society. Interesting way of spending your life and leaving a "legacy."
Who ever gives this video a dislike needs to give their head a shake. great insight and a great video for those interested or considering life on a boat. Thanks for your time ;)

Couples when work together for this kind of life and challenge , adventure, travel , hats off for them , they show the great camaraderie which we so much seek in our partners and the sharing of responsibilities and efforts in such a humongous adventure , I bow my head to these beautiful persons one a dentist (Nick could have made tons of money on land) and a paramedic )Terysa who is so gifted individual words are very few to explain this brave person. Their chemistry together and hard toil to reach their pre-planned goal or target to explore nature when you are young is something we rarely see in the young generations today who are into the rat race of climbing the ladder of money fame and fortune. Very educational video. THE Most EDUCATIONAL boating video for me as it included videos of controllers, switches (with corresponding tags to indicate what those switches are for). You are watching to learn so it you see switches and in other videos they are not tagged you don't know what they're for.
Just came across your channel. Wonderful, very down to earth! Even though I'm several (many) years older I'm still hoping for some type of live aboard!
Still at the intro of the video but i just wanted to say that through watching numerous videos on you tube with people sharing their lives and whatnot I have realized that most couples seek to get away from the working for someone or being in a job they no longer love or don't have any passion for anymore. This tells me that in reality we don't really care for such things as long as we are comfortable with what we have and also happy .We will do what we want to do with what we have. Its very interesting to see that this is the one theme that comes out of majority of the videos I see here on TH-cam but to get to a place where you are happy you have to work initially so its a must for all those who were not born with a golden spoon in their mouth. I am 22 and I haven't achieve anything great in life still missing a lot and I here living vicariously through these videos but what I am realizing now as I type this my time is limited and I shouldn't be wasting my time on things that don't benefit me.It is awesome to see people doing well and happy but I have nothing to my name. I am probably poorer than most people on this platform. However I want to be great and help my community. Help the world or even better improve the lives of the many and I can't do that if i am here doing nothing but wasting my time on 20 to 30 minute videos on people who have already lived a great deal of their lives and with 100% certainty are better off than I am. I am really grateful to you guys for helping me come to this realization before it was too late. Thank you. (09/07/2019) 6:40 am
Pen Lavits i have had friends that are nurses and they are able to work xtra and save a good amount of money...they live below their means s s our money away for a few years. Then they travel on a budget. Two of them took a good amount of time off and traveled. They didn’t sail, but one found odd jobs places and in other places didn’t have to work, because of saved $$. They did this in their 20’s and 30’s! It absolutely can be done. One took a total of 2 years off and traveled all over! You have to have a plan, save, make strides towards your goals continually...and it’ll be there before you know.
Burn out is easy when you have experienced so much as a paramedic it's not the same your memory keeps that from happening. (former emt) We have a saying around here Terysa "paramedics save lives, EMT's save paramedics" lol true right. Lovely story and a lovely boat and I so enjoy your videos. :) peace
Wish you folks the very best. You guys are living the dream of many. Yes, it's a challenge, but with time becomes a reflex. And your a very small group of people that can say, they've sailed ⛵️ the world. Keep pushing & stay safe. Atleast you have technology to help. Just think of those who lived hundreds of years ago, who relied on the stars & charts only. Godspeed.
I've been following Ruby Rose for approx 6 months now and stumbled on this vid. Well done! Really enjoyed this and was kinda looking for this on their channel. Thanks Cheers
This is SUCH a lovely video! Really, I am already subscribed to a number of sailing channels but you are so practical and unique! I just got my BC cert in Sausalito, Ca and am working toward the same dreeam! thank you!
I wouldn't last two seconds. I am extremely claustrophobic...that enclosed space, those low ceilings....ugh...I shudder just thinking about it. My anxiety would be off the charts. But good for them for living the life they chose.
Hey, It feels amazing when I see your Journey. Wish you more adventure, more love, more fun. And Thank you for Giving a new Imagination of Living life in the Future. :)- Yogi from India.
Brilliant video. I really enjoyed it. Lots of information and I applaud you for taking the risk and doing it. I've subscribed to follow your adventures.
pretty cool! do they need to carry visas and passports and file an itinerary with ports their sailing to? can they sail if an electrical failure occurred, hoping they have a backup generator! it would be an awesome experience!
Great questions! We definitely need to carry passports and visas and check in/out of every country just like any other form of travel. And yes, we can sail in the event of an electrical failure, we'd have to go old school and rely on paper charts and hand held VHF. No backup generators I'm afraid! But we'd manage :) - Nick & Terysa
@@sailingrubyrose thanks for answering! i assumed as much on the documents... lol.. but always good to verify! navigating old school with maps, charts, and compasses is good to keep up on! the magnetic north pole shifting will affect compasses more in the future, i imagine... at the moment, it seems to ping the spot between the old and the new one (toward siberia). i wish you well on your journeys to come!
We’ve been living aboard and cruising fulltime now for 2 years, from BC Canada, now in Mexico with our sailboat! It can be an extremely challenging lifestyle, and also incredibly adventurous...it will either break or build characters! Lol. Making your dream into reality is the hardest work you’ll ever do. And also the most satisfying.
I watched your videos done with the Wynns. I really enjoy both sets of vlogs and wonder how the two of you got together. Keep up the great work. Thanks
Guys lets appreciate youtube for making life better for so many people and providing them means of earning. All these stories and all of them say TH-cam is their one of main part of income. TH-cam has given opportunity to many people who want to go out an explore. They just need a simple good phone to start working and make videos and if they get successful they are set for sail 😎
love how you call sailing on a $100,000 plus vessel a minimalist lifestyle.........I guess it’s all relevant, but i totally understand and i love what you both do.
Thankyou SO MUCH Mat and Danielle for featuring us on your channel! We're so stoked with this video, you did a brilliant job! - Nick & Terysa
Sailing Yacht Ruby Rose It was a very interesting report, I'd like to do it one day!

What a joyful way to live, being so close to nature.
Comfy! And then she said 'bow thruster' and that did it for me. Awesome boat.
We lived on a 40ft trawler for 10 1/2 years. 40 ft makes a good living space and you can have guests from time to time. Great way to live.
I just started following these guys after seeing them with Gone With The Wynns...you are all brilliant💛💛

I have seen many of your videos and this is my favorite. Thank you.
What a fantastic detailed video of life as a sailor and what to expect as one. Just fucking awesome and well done you two.

My favorite one so far. Thanks so much!
I watched your videos done with the Wynns. I really enjoy both sets of vlogs and wonder how the two of you got together. Keep up the great work. Thanks
Very cool a bit scary to up and leave everything behind but look at what you have gained awesome job thanks for sharing
These two are the best...
This is simply amazing, living the life you want....!!!
love how you call sailing on a $100,000 plus vessel a minimalist lifestyle.........I guess it’s all relevant, but i totally understand and i love what you both do.
For a lot of Americans their house, college, car and medical bills add up to way more than that, and if you have kids and go on vacation it's way more
@@blarmosanchez2593 I totally agree, especially when you put it in perspective. I’m currently in search of my vessel of freedom. Cheers
I enjoyed another way to live and sharing it with someone else would be awesome.
Incredible lifestyle. I can only dream. Congratulation to you.
what matters the most is staying together and don't live life but enjoy life...
Spot on
