      @@HewAndAwe back from a Posh cruise to Tallinn, Estonia, ate at the medieval restaurant Olde Hansa in their antique senate house.
      Drank old reconstructed dark beer recipe laced with honey!
      I think that will suffice to call nice, enough to loosen Your poetic fibre..

    For those who don't know those yellow and black pencils are often used by picture artists to do graphite drawings.
    The last time I bought about 30 of them it was 90 euros. Or $100. It was maybe 10 years ago so I might be off some, but not much. I about chocked when the man rang up my items! I had no idea, I thought they were just ordinary pencils, and I rather liked the yellow and black coloring. And the different hardnesses have different color caps, where an erasure would normally be.
    Beside $8 a gallon for gas, Paris had some of the most expensive pencils I've seen, along with everything else! Rent, food, newspapers, internet, cloths, etc. But all of a glorious high quality!

    Sorry, one more question do you find the Narex chisels stout and strong. Some complain about the thinnes at the edge of the chisels. I am getting ready to buy some new chisels and the Richter was a set I was very interested in. thanks

    • @HewAndAwe
      @HewAndAwe  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on what Im using them for, the narex bench chisels I have they're absolutely useless for mortice work, the edge rolls over with one blow, not made for mortice work - but for fine work like dovetails I reach for the narex over my lie nielsen chisels every time, for fine pairing finish work theyre bloody good. Most bench chisels aren't really made for heavy blows with a mallet, theyre really for fine hand work, finessing.. I cant Comment on the Richter as I dont have them, but the Richter are more expensive so one would assume they are way better. One set of chisels, doesnt answer all your needs though, do bare that in mind.
      I have four sets, two for fine work with different primary bevels (hard softwood) and beater/carpentry chisels, for hinges etc, they have a high bevel which is useless for getting into the corner of a dove tail cause the high bevel will bruise the tail/pin...

    • @paulhodgson4790
      @paulhodgson4790 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What angle do you sharpen your bevels to for hardwood dovetails? I've got mine at 20 degrees but can't seem to clean out the angles at the base of the pins too well.

      I am one of those that generally do not like music, of any kind. It's just noise! Can't stand 5 minutes of it--- on a good day!
      ( and I learned to play piano and violin when young, but now it all is just noise, I prefer total silence! Which is hard to achieve! But I try!)
      And before I remembered to turn the volume off I found I was really, REALLY enjoying the music from the first part of your instructional woodworking porn video. Porn because it lures you in and you can find yourself immersed in something you wouldn't normally ever do, otherwise, but you somehow really like watching someone else, doing it! All of it! Wishing I could do that stuff, too!
      But back to what I originally wanted to comment on: the music from the first section I so really, really enjoyed!!! Unfortunately you don't know the who, where, when, what! It might well be another 10 years before I ever hear something I like as well. Or nearly as well. And for me that is just so regretable! I know you aren't a music site, but while teaching other things it is nice to offer other experiences other than what you think you you are providing. Which can excite some in other directions! So a big thank-you for doing that, even if unintentional!
      (I stopped in Iceland for some unknown reason after living in Paris for a few years. And I bought a great set of wood carving tools. Maybe I should look for them and give them a few wacks. They are from Austria and the salesman said they were pretty top notch! Which they are, the steel is quite heavy and the edges were incredibly sharp, and all with a nice balance in them! So maybe you have peaked my interest (again!) in wood carving, of all things!
      Many thanks! Appreciate it all!
      But it is that music that really, really got me!

      @@paulortiz2035 I'm glad that music caught you, I had to remove the sound, for me the sound of the tools and the work itself would have been better, but you can't have everything because the result of the work was spectacular.
