It's good to finally have the 354th Myrtle Beach AFB A-7's get some attention. I deployed with them as a weapons mechanic. I was in the Air Force for 20 years. Myrtle Beach was my first base after finishing tech school in Denver,Co.. I can honestly say that my time in Korat with the 354th was my most treasured and fulfilled assignment in my whole 20 years in. No playing war games..just load the armament and send the A-7 to charlie with love! Miss those days!
This brings back lots of memories as I was on this October 1972 deployment. For you history buffs, the last bomb dropped and the last 20mm projectile fired from an airborne platform in the Vietnam was from 2 A-7s deployed from Myrtle Beach AFB. The last POW in the Vietnam was a pilot assigned to the 354th Tactical Fighter Wing at MYR. VALOR IN COMBAT!

I worked barrier maintenance in 1970 at Korat RTAFB. Loved watching the F-4's taking off at night and feeling the rumble. Youth is wasted on young people applied to me.
My dad was stationed at Korat during the Vietnam War. He told me he loaded bombs. I often wondered how it was done. Now I know. I'll have to show him this video.

My grandfather!
Happy Veterans Day and thank you to all who served.
The A-7s never get as much attention as the Phantoms, very cool to see so much footage of them here.
I was there in 1969-1970 at Camp Friendship. 256th Personnel Service Company. Spent a lot of time watching the F-105's and F-4 come and go!
