Hello Sam, this vlog is so nice ... as my father is the ex-retired Thai army general. I remember in 1988 (and possibly some years around that time), he had been involved with the co-ordination of this Cobra Gold training. He previously had some training in Fort Bragg and Fort Benning before as well. I remember too that some years he had to join the training of CBG in Hawaii. So thanks for a cool summary of your trip. I'm glad you had a great time in Thailand as before Covid19, Pataya can be overcrowd, esp. on the beach. Cheers,
As Thai, thank you so much for your video presenting of Thailand. It is so good and very kind of you. There are many attractive places for sightseeing in my country. And There is also COBRA base station in Nakhon Ratchasima, North eastern of Thailand. I wish you come back to Thailand again. And the last I would like to tell , you have very sparkle and pretty eyes and the inner of you make me feel joyful and happy.
Great video, man!! My uncle was an Air Force veteran. He used to be stationed at Peterson Air Base so when I saw you here on yt I instantly became amazed. Keep up the good work, man!!
I used to study as a Thai Pre-cadet and my goal was to study as a US cadet. I graduated as a 3rd rank of Army which I pretty sure I can get the scholarship to study abroad (there are Army, Air force, Navy and Police studied together in the school). But after graduation, I decided to resign, quit my military life. In recent years, a lot of things in Thai military have changed. 4 years passed since I quit, I am glad I made the decision. Thai people are facing lots of problems because of Thai Army, Im glad Im not one of them anymore.
I’m Thai and I have no problem whatsoever with Thai Army. Thai Army people are always very helpful in time of need. Most Thais do have problems with politicians. The current prime minister came from legit election process and most Thai love him.
Sam Eckholm thank you for your service! New viewer here ran across your channel and this Vlog sure takes me back in time. I served one year at Utapao Air Force Base as an aircraft electrical repairman working on B-52 bombers and KC 135 tankers during the Vietnam war. I was placed to translate for combat logistic support unit and tactical combat casualty care course. It was such amazing experiences working with you guys and the RTA. Thanks for giving great trainings to our RTA! :)
Stationed out here in Hawaii. I'm an artillery 1LT. Never got to go to cobra gold(super bummed because I wanted Hawaii to go train in Asia). But know plenty of people who did and did some brigade level staff work involved with it. The Thai army comes here all the time to train too. In fact I went to jungle school(Hawaii exclusive) and had two Thai Lieutenants in my class(and two French Canadian corporals oddly enough)

I'm glad that you're enjoying your life in Thailand I read that time I can get rid of all the stress and the negativity that's been happening during covid-19 like I've been so stressed and so negative about what's going to happen next and I overthink too much but thank God for the Buddhist meditation I began to realize about how wonderful it is just to finally feel like myself and feel better from all the stress and all the anxiety I've been having so I am so thankful that you are enjoying your life in Thailand and you serve in the US army right if you are then I am thankful that you're protecting our country and you're protecting all of us including Thailand of course haha
Great video production blending the exercise and your experience on location. Definitely different and more professional than some of the other military PAO vids I’ve seen 👍

It is very hot there in Thailand and I spent two years there during the Vietnam War and enjoyed that time there and got to know many people from there along with some Americans. There are times when I want to return there to visit both that country along with Japan also.
There is no quarantine anymore in this November. Hope you will travel back and enjoy traveling in Thailand. Thank you for sharing. Your video is so useful for Thailand. Love the way you organized your stuffs on the shelf, air force taught you to do that, huh!. Utapoa is US made for Thailand, thank you USA.
Another great video Sam, been to Thailand a few times and its a great country.
If you ever get a chance, you need to visit the Philippines! I just retired here little less than a year ago and loving it...People are so nice and friendly. Well worth the trip if you ever get a chance
Popped up in my feed today and must say, you had me watching to the end. Great content and superb editing. Definite sub!
Thanks, Darren!!

High humidity & precipitation in Thailand this year due to tropical storms. The northeast and parts of north are underwater so it’s lucky your training went well till the end. Now nearly 50% ppl have been fully vaccinated. Things are getting better😁
I am Thai and worked as a military interpreter for US Army between 2020-2021. I worked for US Army SFAB and US Army Special Forces in Lopburi. I was placed to translate for combat logistic support unit and tactical combat casualty care course. It was such amazing experiences working with you guys and the RTA. Thanks for giving great trainings to our RTA! :)
Thank you for good supporting video of quarantined in my country and enjoy ..amazing Thailand 🇹🇭🎶👍🏼
I was part of cobra gold 2017 in Korat, Thailand and it was hands down my best experience while I was active duty.
I'm curious, have you ever thought of making a proper film, maybe just a short film? Like not like your usual stuff on here on youtube. Like a story youve always wanted to tell be it scripted or a documentary, smth like that.
Yah I’ve certainly thought about it! Really just enjoying the freedom and creativity TH-cam offers right now. Who knows what the future will hold though!
This is what air force guys do. They aren't even real military.
I like your VDO a lot. It sound like a good planning overall. good job! well done. Thanks for coming and hope you will come again.
Hi Sam! This is my first time watching your video. And you’re totally got me because your vlog is so awesome! I watched the whole things without any skips. Everything is so great; footages, musics, editing and also your story. I really hope you enjoyed this trip and please come back to Thailand again if you can. Can’t wait to see your next journey here. And Thai people always happy to welcome you guys too🇹🇭
I ‘m from Thailand . Welcome to Thailand and thank you so much to present . It very good and amazing.
When he said “Utapao” I was like “hold up, the planet in Star Wars came from a Thai town?!?!?”
Haha I thought the same thing
Exactly where Spielberg was inspired. It's a renowned name of the American airbase for B-52 in the Vietnam war.
It used to be an old US military Air force base during Vietnam War. Then it turns out to be an international Airport of Chonburi
Edit: Thank you for your discussion about my reply story down below :)
@@Jrp_Frame American Forces has never stationed in Siam or Thailand during WWII .It's occupied by the Japanese Army in the name of "Axis Power".
Yes, it was an old U.S. air base so it is most likely that the planet's name was inspired from a location in Thailand.
I was part of Cobra Gold 2020 right before Covid in March 20. I remember getting the fruit smoothies for lunch. The terminal 21 mall in Korat was one of the nicest malls I ever seen. Awesome time.
16:19 Those UC-35's are such cool aircraft, along with the Learjet C-21A's! Saw one zooming out of KTPA a while ago, those small planes have absurd climb rates!
Thank you for representing my country 😊
As a Thai I want to thank the US for helping to train our soldiers. Long may the partnership continue!
Welcome to Thailand
I am a combatcamera man
Roya Thai Navy you're welcome
You've filmed Thailand beautifully. Thank you and hope you will visit again :)

Thank you for your service and journey, Sam. What an awesome video.🇺🇸👍
Don't stop making videos Sam! Really enjoy your vids
Glad you like them! Lots more to come.
Was a part of Cobra Gold 4x while at amphibious construction battalion 1. It was always a lot of fun. Long days, humidity and amazing team work.
Great video production blending the exercise and your experience on location. Definitely different and more professional than some of the other military PAO vids I’ve seen 👍
Thank you for amazing VDO.PM sets Nov 1,2021 for reopening to foreign tourists from low-risk countries. Welcome to Thailand 🇹🇭🙏🤓
