Now Satellite Dishes are common place, but now eversince Freeview has caught on you no longer need a dish.

"status symbol" absolutely correct for the time. especially in council estates. 'Spot the poor family with no dish'. People enslaved by an overpriced corporation i.e Sky. Couldn't afford new shoes on the children's feet but paying mega money each month for TV channels. Now most people want that old ugly dish OFF the house. how times have changed from the 80s/90s. We still see consumers as slaves to capitalism though.
