I knew this was coming when people say Coach Prime used it to the fullest extent. They were shocked and mad at about the caliber of players he was getting. When I heard coaches saying that wasn’t how it was meant to be, I knew it was coming and commented on some channels about it.
I believe coaches were talking about the roster flip, not the transfer portal window. Transfer portal window is how long the athletes have to enter. Coach Prime can still get as many high end transferees as he can handle.

Going from 60 to 30 days it benefits those schools with massive amounts of money who can hire a whole bunch of recruiters. It hurts the players for now they may only be able to visit less schools to choose from.
It shouldn’t affect number of schools and visits. Just the timeframe to enter. They will still have 11 months out of the year to decide wether to transfer.
Wish there was a way to educate the majority of players Entering the portal. So many unsigned , need to have a realistic evaluation of their abilities. Not 5% that are signed or recruited . This is what the NCAA should focus on.

We need to remember that any restraints the NCAA could apply to CU and Coach Prime must also apply to Coach Saban and AL, Coach Smart and GA, and the rest for example. These proposed rule changes are the same as making a distinction without a difference. IMO, the only reason they’re being considered is to give the appearance of process improvement. The changes if approved won’t create any real change; in other words, it’s all lip service. If the portal window is shortened, schools will adjust their admission and enrollment processes accordingly. CU and Coach Prime are hot tickets in college football right now but we need to remember that we aren’t the only ticket. Therefore, everything’s not about us.

I believe that this change is designed to make more players stay at their original schools. I do admit that some should have stayed at their schools, however, it is not fair to the players to shorten the time. Some of the ballers, such as what CU obtained did the right thing by leaving and it was still their prerogative. The bottom line; the NCAA will always do what's best for making money. Just my opinon on the portal. 1. This december window needs to be moved back to day after National Championship game. Teams was losing players before bowl game that caused problems with roster. Example my LSU tigers only had 39 scholarship players and WR playing QB like 2yrs ago. 2. Tampering is more of players reaching out to other players at the schools. I'm sure sometime coaches are behind it. 3. I think schools need to implent what the SEC does. If you transfer in 2nd portal window within the conference you have to sit out a year.
Well hope next year kids think long and hard before they pick a school. Players will be stuck at a school they don't like, since they shorten the time that portal is open. Kids should be given the chance to make the best decision for their educational and athletic careers.

If you're a team in contention for post season play, you're prepping for a bowl game, recruiting your high schoolers and then trying to figure out if whoever it is who's jumped in the portal is any good. A lot of guys who jump in the portal are guys who perhaps didn't play because they were behind someone or just overlooked. So you've got to scout those guys. Are you gonna for a portal squad to immediately get all the names of portal athletes and try to find film on them to see if they can help your program? I just don't see how that helps Coaches, unless you're heading up a subpar team, and you've got a lot of time on your hands while hoping you don't get fired so you can scout portal talent. I don't know, seems like it just a big loss to the kids to me. I think they did it primarily cause of Coach Prime because of how brash and brazen he was in executing his plan. He's the only person that had the Cajones to do what he did, in everybody's face for the world to see. They don't want other people to follow that lead. Hey! The window narrowing only affects players entering not coaches pulling. They can still stay in the portal and coaches can look at them as long as they are available. It only affects the time the indie is open for players to enter.

This is my opinion. I have a real problem with the fact that most of these coaches and schools are looking out for their own benefit and agenda. The schools and coaches are using the players skills to win games and to generate money. However, when it comes to doing, what’s best for the players, there seems to be a problem. I thought the whole reason for NIL and transfer portal was to benefit the players with the skills that bring people out to see the games and makes the coaches famous and the school famous and generates money for the school. Maybe I am wrong. Please educate me.
Colleges are businesses. Football is one of the best income producers. So yes that is correct. NIL was out in place to allow players to cash in on their likeness. The portal is there to allow player to change schools if they want. So yes, you are correct. The ncaa wants to still control things at some level to ensure tampering is not happening. If tampering is bad. So that is where the rule changes come to play a lot of times.
Whenever a Black Man(Coach) starts leveling the “playing field” where a “certain” group does not have the advantage, changes are made , hurdles are put in place, to tilt the field back to where they have the advantage! Blacks have been dealing with this since the 1800s!

Great point Glen. Many go unsigned and can’t go back to their teams. Portal is still new and will settle down after the rules changes stop.

Benefit for coaches is that they know who is leaving their program sooner so they know who to replace sooner.

its likely that it doesnt change anyway. i see it as a non factor for coaches who play by the rules....like our coach.
