I finally sang something for myself after what feels like a long while now. I’d always meant to sing more niki songs especially since I’ve been a huge fan of cillia/kyaami since before I even began singing online. I’m glad I was able to do this one so many thanks to David and Rui Ruii for allowing me to borrow their work. Lots of things are changing for me and I’m trying to revaluate my motivations and future, so thank you for bearing with me. Anyway, I’ll be trying to get back into the swing of things again!

I forgot this song was on my playlist. Today I went to my friend's funeral and tried listening to music on the way there to calm down. This song came on and it broke me completely. I didn't think I had any tears left but i guess I was wrong.

@@Gabby-jv3ip Yeah, David Toth otherwise known as Bread Box on TH-cam. He usually does music lyrics for another youtuber known as Will Stetson, both of whom I've been following their works for years. They're amazing youtubers and I love David's lyrics he usually makes for Will, so when I heard this cover I instantly recognized they were his.

A theme of vocaloid I have found is that a lot of the super popular songs are super dark and depressing but typically depicted in an upbeat way. This isn’t applicable for all the popular songs it’s just a common theme I have noticed.

Could be a cultural and societal thing too, a way for composers to release negative emotions through artistry.

@@mimoyfalcon2153 I think it's a more satirical reference to how we hide our negative emotion behind a mask of positivity as likewise the videos are bright and colourful, like our faces are to those around us, while the lyrics are dark and depressing, representing our inner turmoil that we strive to hide from people who we feel we shouldn't be relying on, causing a cycle of guilt, trapping someone in their mind without anyone to open a door for them out of their personal hell.
@@ravin6771 I’m not sure how true this is but I remember hearing somewhere that in Japan mental health isn’t really talked about and is (I believe) stigmatized, so that also might be a reason as to why vocaloid (and some Japanese songs in general) have upbeat music while having depressing lyrics.
Like for example, Daijobanai is a Japanese song that has cutesy upbeat music but the lyrics when translated to English are mostly just the singer saying that while they say they’re ok, they’re not actually ok.
I dont know why, but this makes me think of a girl which attempted suicide, for then fail and fall into a coma. She is still really unstable, and as a ghost almost, she follows the ones she used to love, slowly breaking because she was basically gone. And so, months pass, some of her friends collapsed under the grief, others just moved on, and she just has to see it all, without being able to do anything about it. She regrets what she had done and just wants to go back, to just breathe and live, because now she understands that it was enough. For her, all of that was enough, and she lost it. And so this is her cry in pain, that no one will ever hear...

Songs like these are one reason I've come to love Vocaloid (and Utau) and the community surrounding it so much. Vocaloid gives anyone the freedom to write a song. You don't need to be a celebrity or even have a good singing voice to be heard, you just need a computer, a program, and something to say. There are so many songs with real emotion behind them that might have never seen the light of day without the freedom Vocaloid gives and without cover artists like Juby.

This song makes me thing of an old friend that was taken from me by one of my bullies, I slowly gained more friends over the years, and then this year, one of the hardest years of my life because of COVID, that bully came back and took the rest of my friends away. And the other day we were talking, and the bully said “I don’t know you, but high five!” I wanted to throw them across the room. How *dare* they not remember all of the pain and anxiety they put me through. I practically spent this year talking to no one. I remember listening to this song during a long time of transition in my life. I couldn't love myself, but I wanted to, and it hurt how much I was tearing myself apart. Like two people existed in one body, but it was simply the extreme dichotomy of how I felt about myself.

This is such an amazing song that has such a beautiful melody. I really like how this version is in piano. It gives a feeling of gentleness that paired with the lyrics just makes a truly amazing song/cover. Forgive me if this isn’t accurate since I don’t really know much about music. I’m just trying to tell you all how I feel about the song. Also the part in the song that goes “Even if I give away, Even if I lose someday, Even if the memories fade, I’ll still wish the same” just really hits hard. Honestly.. So far this song and Ikanide has been the ones to make me cry because I've been learning to move on from two deaths that hit me HARD back in 2020.. A good friend who was like a son to me... and my emotional support animal only within months of eachother... Then just the beginning of this year someone who I also saw as a son to me decided to no longer be friends with me and he was the last person that was also just as close to the one who passed away...
