Here are my actual figures that my husband and I came up with before we move to St. Lucia. (We also have two children) Hope this is helpful. We want $30,000 US dollars in lump, (this is a years worth of our basic expenses) , we also want to buy a home before we go down and have passive income of enough to cover that mortgage coming from our country of origin , we also want a vehicle bought and which we have enough to pay our monthly installments before we go down. Essentially, we are risk adverse because we have children’s futures to secure and because we want to go down there abd have as financially secure life as possible. This is a 3 year plan and it’s already in motion. The Keys - in my view, are home, vehicle, secure passive income and start up costs. We don’t feel comfortable with the idea of relying on a remote working situation and renting an apartment. For us, we need to secure passive income in our country of origin first -so it’s coming down to us and going further, then if we work remotely, it’s a bonus.

Thanks for sharing your strategy which looks very well thought out. It's great for folks to see that there are endless ways to make your relocation dreams happen - there is no one-size-fits-all solution!

You need to go down there for about six months and see how things work. You also may want to build instead of buy a house. You have no idea what type of foundation the house your planning on buying has been built on or the type of material that has gone into it. It can bite u in the butt later on...

@@Qland22 great points. Only concern with building is that I’ve heard construction materials are taking a million years to arrive in st Lucia since Covid -huge delays ect

Thank you for sharing your strategy. I myself want to move to St Lucia but I’m a single parent ! I’ve been St Lucia twice, looking to go again in the height of rainy reason so I can get an idea of what it could be like in this season , as last year they had quite a few floods on the island.

It’s really refreshing to hear the experiences of others. Also helps me feel very ‘normal’… Keep up the great work! Always inspiring ❤️

Customs in Grenada is very expensive. You will have to pay 1.61% to import a car that’s under 10 years old...more than 5 years plus their VAT. It’s like purchasing your vehicle all over again.
