Omg I thought I was the only one like that! I've seen it 4 times and my wife can't see it anymore ahah. So inspiring to see people suffering (it's a joke). Same, glad to see it when I'm losing motivation :)
+Francisco Fernandes finally i can request game idea please make a story about kid which one is in coma and we are in his dream. in his dream he have got a friend, with that friend you walking into the abandoned houses and see paronarmal activites
That's actually very similar to a game I made a year ago, play it till the end to see what I mean :) play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.sv.leapboy
Seen the movie plenty of times, and listen to the music all the time. It's pretty much one of the biggest reasons I'm still developing. After 10 ish years of programming, I'm finally close to releasing two of my games. Sidescroller adventure and an online trading card game. I wouldn't be where I am today without this movie.
Its been doing okay, been super busy lately unfortunately... But thanks for asking dude I appreciate it. Don't give up, because I think coding shows people how you can't get it down immediately, and you need to practice practice practice for anyone to be good in it. So once we achieve it... We can practically be very bright people of the future!
My English class watched this movie (along with 3 other documentaries) during one of our English units. That's what KGSC's Year 11 English students get with our awesome English head of department around. Out of the four documentaries, I ended up referring to this one for my essay...because it related to my aspirations to be in the video game industry.
This is one of the most inspirational films for game developers and indie's even after what happened to Phil Fish with him canceling fez 2. Truly a great movie 10/10 and if you even THINK of making a indie game PLEASE watch this movie!
+milo goodfellow Its probably my favourite movie of all time. It motivated me to become an independent game developer. I wish Phil came back to making games, the industry needs him
+milo goodfellow Every time I feel down and need some motivation to continue working on how to make games I watch that movie... and bam! back to work :D
This is what I was most excited for in sixth grade. I had no friends and found media like this as a way of protection. I'm about to graduate highschool and I am no longer the shut in I once was. I love my friends. I Absolutely love them and I want them in my life forever. I wish I could stay at this moment in time or the rest of my life. Video games over the years have become more of a crutch to me than a genuine support tool to get me through my depressive states. In ninth grade I was on the verge of suicide because I simply didn't enjoy life and didn't understand why. Every day after school I would confine myself to my room and sit in the dark playing video games for hour. It wasn't healthy. Taking a step back from video games and being more social with family and the few friends I had saved my life. I still enjoy video games now for sure. It's probably my biggest hobby. But there's a line between enjoyment and addiction. I enjoyed playing Super Mario Odyssey for an hour daily over the summer, but I have not enjoyed sinking 20 hours into Borderlands in the past week, but I just find I have nothing better to do. I try to moderate it by hanging out with friends or just going out anywhere, but often the addiction is the easiest thing to succumb to. My gaming now mostly consists of playing Rocket League with my brother every weekend, which I am more than fine with (we're only low plat btw not that great). Having that social interaction while playing makes it loads more enjoyable. Indie Game the Movie brings me back to a time where I wasn't susceptible to the negative emotions that I now associate with playing video games without moderation. This media is no longer a release, but a substance I have to take in moderation. I didn't really talk about the movie because it doesn't really matter. It's the hardships and tribulations that we face along the way that matter, and each developer in this films deals with these in their own way. Negative emotions are a part of life and it's up to us to control them and alter our routine to turn them positive.
Charles Martineau I think the true genius of the project is the one that implemented Phil's ideas into a game, the Trixel Engine writer, and the custom tilemap designer program, these were not built by Phil Fish, but built out of necessity for turning his ideas to life. It takes a real genius to put great ideas to the test.
Charles Martineau They hate Fish 'cuz the time he took, people don't understand that masterpieces take time, can't wait. If it was after development, people talked about how much of a jerk he was for reslehing Fez. He was basically saying 'Fuck you!' to the people who hated him.
Mark Laaouri I saw the panel, besides him still being a dick. He actually only really did the pixel art for the game (which is beautiful.) I think his partner doesn't get enough credit (the programmer)
Man. This movie really opened my eyes to the Indie world. I had no idea what it was like, and how hard it was to be an indie developer. I recommend this movie to everyone.
Ever since the movie came out, I've been into game development. It opened my eyes to what I'm really supposed to do. I'm lucky to have two really close friends that are very capable of making games too. I'm doing all the art (been doing art stuff for a long time). I'm excited to be working on something I care about!
Thanks for this I have been waiting for a HD version of the soundtrack for years. Also thank you so much to Jim Guthrie for such beautiful music. I just started learning game dev (after being inspired by the movie) and I swear I am going to listen to this everytime I write code
Really enjoyed the soundtrack of this movie. Very inspiring and motivating even though I'm not a hardcore gamer or anything. Haha I've watched this movie multiple times. :)
He said that this soundtrack inspired him to make a game with the Unity engine, the engine that Slender was made with. Basically, they're going to finish their university course then make games, then apologised for their English.
i think that one of the many importants point to be a programmer/developer not just a game developer. Is to be a good mathematician. just one of them......
Well, to be a "good programmer" I think we must have more than mathematics skill. We need a whole lot of skills : math, English, observation, comprehension, retro-engineering, etc... programming is a science :)
"Oh, it's a platformer, 2d is it? Hmm, the short answer: No, we can't publish your game, although if you have any infinite runners for mobile, we will be happy to do so!"
i saw this movie and i was like wow ....and the i just download slenderman and see this program that the name is unity ... i know this is not has to be the movie but then i think this movie and i just download the unity program and i was looking for the movie again and see the movie and i think i going to make video game because i know code .... i know i was looking for sound track because is inspired me and now i going to finish my uni and create videogame sorry is my english is bad ;)
rodrigo gonzalez You can buy it on a ton of platforms. I bought it on my iPhone of $10, and I looked it up and found out you can buy a physical and/or record version of this on his profile for some music site which I forgot the name of.
You can go pick this up over at humblebundle. com along with a bunch of other great soundtracks from Jim Guthrie for as little as $.01 if you choose. If you pay more than the average though, you get a sick game and this movie as well.
I know i've heard the first music in an ios game. But I don't remember which. And Google's not very helpful.. And it's aggravating! That aside, the music is incredible...the whole lot of them
This movie is very inspiring. I've seen it 5 times now and i see it everytime whenever i lose interest towards my goal of videogame dev.
ya agreed
Omg I thought I was the only one like that! I've seen it 4 times and my wife can't see it anymore ahah. So inspiring to see people suffering (it's a joke). Same, glad to see it when I'm losing motivation :)
love, anxiety, depression
This movie inspired me to get into indie games. I failed miserably. But I still love the movie.
Inspiring music to listen while programming a video game. :)
+Francisco Fernandes finally i can request game idea
please make a story about kid which one is in coma and we are in his dream. in his dream he have got a friend, with that friend you walking into the abandoned houses and see paronarmal activites
+Francisco Fernandes And drawing sprites as well.
+Francisco Fernandes Don't forget the music too.
That's actually very similar to a game I made a year ago, play it till the end to see what I mean :)

I hope to be a game designer when I grow up.
And I will always strive to that goal.
+Andrew Fender Good inspiration! Thank you for sharing it... Good work for you in your project
You better be a designer by now boy!
I watched this in 2012 and I am now a full time Game soundtrack writer / game dev !
Come on game developers, kick AAA's asses and make your own game to show your power to the world ;) !!
One big hug to everyone!
Yea Bro (y)
No need to kick AAA's assess. let's just have fun doing what we love doing and share our knowledge to everyone.
This movie inspired me to pick up programming after my failed attempt of learning it... and I m planning to write my own game too!
Same here man, I'm so glad I found inspiration again to continue programming no matter how many times I fail
hey, was wondering how your programming was going. i began learning in uni but gave up.... i want to learn it again too
Its been doing okay, been super busy lately unfortunately... But thanks for asking dude I appreciate it. Don't give up, because I think coding shows people how you can't get it down immediately, and you need to practice practice practice for anyone to be good in it. So once we achieve it... We can practically be very bright people of the future!
Good luck !
You got this! Never give up hope on your dreams. You can make them come true.
Ever since I've seen this movie and listened to the soundtrack, it's changed the way I perceive movies, music and videogames.
Probably even the world.
My English class watched this movie (along with 3 other documentaries) during one of our English units. That's what KGSC's Year 11 English students get with our awesome English head of department around.

I don't understand why some have some hate towards Fish ... the guy is a genius. There is always some form of madness in creative work.
Charles Martineau I think the true genius of the project is the one that implemented Phil's ideas into a game, the Trixel Engine writer, and the custom tilemap designer program, these were not built by Phil Fish, but built out of necessity for turning his ideas to life. So true. Don't judge an artist by anything other than his art. Plain and simple.
+The SpokenBanana wrong, it was Fish's toxic and rude attitude, which is why people hated him.
Mark Laaouri I saw the panel, besides him still being a dick. He actually only really did the pixel art for the game (which is beautiful.)
I think his partner doesn't get enough credit (the programmer)
i watched this movie like 6 times, and i still get inspired every time i watch it again.
i cannot believe they are making another one :3
This movie sparked my interest in game design into a passion. I owe it all. Thank you.
the last we spoke always reminds me of some kind of a high school movie opening
Man. This movie really opened my eyes to the Indie world. I had no idea what it was like, and how hard it was to be an indie developer. I recommend this movie to everyone.
I literally cried
.

Awesome movie... "A Glow You Know" is my favorite part of the soundtrack.

Exactly.

where can I download
you buy it.
zantman1000 Download ≠ Illegal. Most people these days buy their music online, that would be a download, too.
rodrigo gonzalez You can buy it on a ton of platforms. I bought it on my iPhone of $10, and I looked it up and found out you can buy a physical and/or record version of this on his profile for some music site which I forgot the name of.
And remember that green isn't a creative color
You can go pick this up over at humblebundle. com along with a bunch of other great soundtracks from Jim Guthrie for as little as $.01 if you choose. If you pay more than the average though, you get a sick game and this movie as well.
But do you actually make games like i do?
Didn't we agree to never be creative again?
Cousins with one by c418
i use my hair to express myself...
c418 one brought me here.
I know i've heard the first music in an ios game. But I don't remember which. And Google's not very helpful.. And it's aggravating!
