Things you missed in this video:
1.Germany's 5-1 win against Scotland was the biggest marginal victory for any openers of the Euro. The previous record was Italy's 3-0 win over Turkey in the last Euro. Interestingly enough, all six goals scored in this game were from the Germans (Rudiger scored an OG for Scotland, while Fullkrug's another goal that was disallowed could made it 6-1).
2.Dominik Szoboszlai of Hungary became the youngest player to captained his team in the Euros.
3.Lamine Yamal of Spain became the youngest player to play the Euro matches, breaking Kacper Kozlowski's record. He will be 17 the day before the Euro 2024 Final will be held in Berlin. To make things even better, he made a goal contribution with Spain against Croatia, providing an assist for Dani Carvajal's goal.
Croatia is not surprising for me. They will struggle a lot against Albania too. Their golden generation is falling apart due to age and no adequate replacements are waiting in line. They have no game plan, they have no lightning fast wingers that can dribble like other top teams. Not surprising at all.
true, we have a world class CB who has to play LB because we don't have outstanding CBs, midfield is old, yeah they are good (on paper and real life, but outside Kovačić, they don't play a lot in their clubs), we don't have lightning fast wingers, and more importantly we don't have a world class striker since Šuker, in the years gone by we have really good strikers like Da SIlva and Mandžukić but they were not outright number 9, so yeah we will struggle a lot and after this tournament it is time to say goodbye to like more than half of the team (something that should have been done like 2-3 years ago, but oh well, your luck and faith in God has to run out at some point)

I don't know. Albania looked really unsorted and uncreative against italy. They got 1 goal gifted but after this, there only attack tactic was long ball on a single striker who has to somehow manage to shoot, against 3 defenders alone. I think croatia will have a chance against both of them.

mate you are clearly biased on this one. Spain vs Croatia wasn't even close. The second half the spanish team turned their rythm down a notch, the match was over at minute 45 so they chose to rest and prepare for the next game. U didn't even show the "penalty" xD
Germany's depth before the opening game kinda went under the radar in the build up to the tournament, as compared to some of the other big names

What is the point on accumulating fatigue when you have clearly and decisively won the first match? Save legs for this very long tournament.
I don't think that the second part is representative of anything except of the discipline in Spain to think beyond the match.

They also completely dominated them the last match with nearly 60% posession and 6 shots on target, while france only could shot twice on target.

I was wondering what the xG was for Croatia. And I feel vindicated by Adrian when I thought that the Cros weren't bad yesterday, but was blitzed by beautiful finals balls from Spain, a team often known as being wasteful.

To an extent you might be right. I look at their lineup and see some potential weaknesses. Still one of the favourites of course, but there are several teams good enough to win Spain and Germany not exactly hurting their reputations with their opening wins.

Well, we have to wait, what will happen when we Germans play against a stronger opponent. The history in Russia til Quatar was, we were vulnerable when the opponents runs counter attacks. The defense were a mess in many games. Based on the game against Schottland we still have no clue how Germany will perform against stronger opponents. At least they converted their chances against the Scots. In Quatar they missed them nearly all. So I see atleast a small progress.

This was game 1, many winners have lost their first game. Esp with just 8 teams knocking out of tje groupstage it is all to play for still. Germany had a great start but hard to judge that gane with the Scots doing absolutely nothing. Spain victory was more impressive. But like I said game 1.....

Le Normand did not take Laporte's place, it was rather Nacho taking Laporte's... "Next to Nacho, no problem", both Le Normand and Nacho were a disasterclass today against a weak offensive Croatia, Spain really need to get ahold of themselves both in the midfield and CBs. Fabian was MOTM but even though he was clinical, his pressing and positioning left too many wide spaces for Croatian midfielders to cook. Merino might be the equilibrium they need for the next game.
Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal are really the offensive powerhouses we expected of them, which is great. Carvajal was also impressive locking down everything in the area and even scoring a fabulous goal. Shoutout to Unai Simon with marvelous saves and Cucurella was okay but don't think he looks promising against tougher rivals.
Spain will get smoked by Italy. Italy plays when they need too! Spain has no identity and has WAY too many new players. Italy plays a controlled style, inserting Inters tactics and half their roster. Spain not be able to penetrate this Italian D, nor will they control the ball. Italy wins 2 or 3 to Zero

@@islandmaaan1115 this is a very different Spain indeed, but that's also their strength. More verticality means taking on more risks at the back, but even if Italy has the best full backs in the tournament, expect very dangerous wing attacks during the match. Also, Spain has more varied profiles in the bench and I feel like in the 2nd halves they will be able to turn around things if they go wrong.
Watched Italy yesterday and I love the team, but even if they win against Spain, I don't see them close to being contenders. They didn't really stack up chances against an extremely weak Albanian side and they almost had a scare at the end. You mention new names? Half the Italy squad has barely played international football with their country and it's the first EURO for a bunch of them. That can play against them

but hear me out, just like in last 2 tournaments where germany was elimated within group phase, i have seen a way too early too offensive germany. so offensive, kroos was, as a number 8, the 3rd last defending player nearly the whole 90 minutes. it is minute 7, what is your defending wing, kimmich, doing near opponents corner flag while the ball is behind the middlefield? are you 0:3 behind and it is minute 80+? nope, not at all. believe me, this formation gonna fail against the first team that can and is willing to kick back the ball.! but who knows, mayb they have multiple formations in their pocket, which would be unusual because a national team usually dont have the time to study more than one proven strat. cheers.

Hungary's EURO ended before it could properly begin, they wasted their chance to qualify. A point against the Swiss and 3 against the Scots would have ensured them qualification. Now they'll need to keep looking over their shoulders to see which teams comes in 3rd with decent goal difference in the other groups, while also stressing over the fact that they absolutely must beat Scotland, whatever happens. In 2021 the weakest 3rd placed team to still qualify was Ukraine with 3 points with a -1 goal difference. I doubt 3 points will be enough now. Unless they somehow wake the fuck up, get a point against Germany and beat the Scots. That could potentially results in enough points alone to go through.

Im proud of albania that we managed to stand our own agaunst a team like italy. Although we couldve done waaaay better. We just sat there and waited for them to lose the ball. At the same time in disappointed that we played ajeto, mitaj and seferi instead of kumbulla, ismajli and uzuni or manaj.
