the fact that people were talking about how this dance isn't "as hard" as their previous ones, shows that they don't know how difficult contemporary can be.
Pfft them people who says this choreo ain’t hard are either ignorant or have never danced this style before lol Sure some people may be able to execute this but most likely not to this level of perfection.
I agree with what Jeff said about the perfection part-- it's probably not as hard to get the moves but to give them that extra polish and put the whole performance together takes a lot of skill
Can you believe that some people are saying that this choreo is not as difficult as their usual ones, clearly people who don't understand the technical skills of contemporary dance. It was beautifully executed, they are stunning. In the words of Hobi "there's something about dance that moves you" - well they certainly moved me, elegantly powerful.
this is because they do a relationship between hard and full energy dances and that´s not necesarilly true like what we see here, black swan as a contemporary concept song, shows that slow movements recquires a lot of muscle strength and that´s why it is hard but people just think energy, hardcore dances are the only ones that we can defined as difficult.
This type of dance may not require as much energy (in the sense that it lacks the hype factor for more energetic dances). However the technicalities make contemporary dancing as hard as hip hop.
“They blend so well.. their moves are not self centered.” You’re speaking facts and I love it! 💯 That’s what I observed too. Other groups or performers are great dancers as well, but if they dance together it doesn’t have this “aura” like BTS coz they outshine each other.. 🤷🏻♀️ but BTS are different, they are great dancers, they shine individually but when they dance together they BLEND so well that makes it more captivating & astonishing and it’s like they are ONE with the song. They are unbelievable! They are So talented and very creative! You can really see that they have the same goal. 💜
Im a dancer/choreo and always watch dance videos in youtube and the first video i saw of BTS is their Danger dance practice. My first impression of them that time, and it was before i became an army, is that they danced as a very professional dance crew and not just a boyband. Their dancing is what i always respect with BTS. I was even shocked when it was only 3 members that has dance training. They really dance as one unit.
"GRAMMYS YOU MISSED OUT" YUPPPPP they could have been the first stage bts performed black swan on but oookayyy lets keep with old rules that people who weren't nominated (which was total BS) can't perform on the stage
@@GabrieleJackson LET'S JUST AGREE THE GRAMMY SHOW LOST OUT BIG TIME!!! AND I'M SURE THEY R REPENTING BIG TIME (IN SECRET OF COURSE)lol!!! LATINA IN TEXAS!!! ANDREW YANG 2020!!!
I've always noticed that about BTS! You can clearly make out slight differences in their personal style, especially between Hobi and Jimin since they come from pretty much opposite dancing backgrounds. But you can see during performances that the members that are not in the center at one moment will hold themselves back a little and not go all out with their moves as much as they could if they wanted to. I always thought the reason for that is mostly to conserve a bit of energy, but that never made sense completely since BTS seem to dislike nothing more than not giving their all during a live stage lol. So yeah, them putting group harmony over personal spotlight defintely makes a lot of sense and it just shows once again how amazing they work together as a team! EDIT: My theory about that move you asked about is that it maybe symbolizes baring your heart, as in opening yourself up and exposing your deepest thoughts, fears and struggles. They do that a lot in their lyrics, so it'd make sense to express it through the choreo as well. Also, whenever I see them do difficult, dance focused performances like this, I think about the fact that Yoongi only agreed to be in BTS because he was promised that it'd be a hip hop group and he wouldn't have to dance that much lmao
Annique very thoughtful comment - I was looking for the correct phrasing and u hit the nail on the head “ group harmony” I also like ur theory about the dance move 💜🇬🇧
Annique ooohhh that makes sense! (Re: move). I knew it meant something!! I wasn’t crazy lol Omg Yoongi got tricked so bad! LOL. But he’s doing SO WELL.

personally, i think that if Blood Sweat & Tears and Fake Love had a baby, it will be Black Swan... the entire dance is amazing. and i agree, all 7 members hould be the dance line.. the strength they needed to have to do some of the moves in this particular dance.. unbelievable.. i can't exactly recall if the hand move/position was in BS&T but i remember a move close to this in Fake Love, with Kookie doing it in his solo part at the start of the song, when he ran off to the side to dance alone. not really sure if it meant anything or if it was the same because the style are both contemporary. whatever the reason, I LOVE IT! BTS never disappoints with their choreography, no matter the genre... always so good! Black Swan choreography joined BS&T and Fake Love as my fave... i wonder if they will release an official MV for Black Swan with their choreography... love, love, love your reaction! cheers!
TaeTae TaTa you are so right about black Swan being the baby! It’s a masterpiece! I can’t wait for the comeback stage in Korea so we can see how they intend for this choreography to be seen!
it's not that the members hold back during dance outside of the centre, but I think they focus more on complimenting each other within the entire picture (as you said) than trying to be the best dancer and standing out. I think it's because BTS is so attuned to each other and because they probably feel that individual fame is subpar to the performance BTS presents as an entirety
You're right, this is art! At one point, Hobi was accidentally kicked in the head by Tae but his performance and showmanship skills made it incredibly difficult to even see when it happened. I am so in love with this song and this choreography!

And then I discovered he is not in dance line... of course V with his voice. He was my bias right away, because of that, I first I could recognize :))
I totally agree. Like BTS they have like individuality to their dancing. In sync, but it doesn’t take away their own touch to that specific move. Idk if that make sense 😅 And they really compliment each other. Whoever on the center stage would really take the spotlight. Another thing is how they are laid back now, not that they are not working hard, powerful still but the energy is not like forced out. They know when to use it. Like if you’ve seen them performing NO and bulletproof pt2 on MAMA 2019. It’s so much better then them performing it back in 2013. Back then they are just spitting out energy and just going hard to every move which makes it look robotic (?) but now it’s much more artistic (?) Portgas D. MinHee I think it’s inspired by a grand plié. I don’t think they intended to do one. It just seemed fitting on that choreo at that moment :)

@5:30 THIS. At last someone says it so accurately. Yes, it’s no news that kpop idols can dance, of course they can, that’s one of the expect of being an idol and very good at it too. But what makes BTS different and eye-catching, it’s because they blend so well. Imo, I deduced it must been because of their teamwork , not saying other groups don’t have it. But it may be due to them practising together for so long, they have live together from debut days. When you are with someone that long, sometimes you’d almost know what they’d think or would do without asking. With that being said, they may have incorporated that aspect, into their dancing or the whole performance itself that makes it so on point, the finishing is always so clean. And it’s as you said, they do not have that ‘self centered’ mentality as you said, they don’t fight to be in the center of attention, they know when to take a step back and allow others come forth. For example, people whom do not know BTS well enough, would always catch on jimin being the best dancer, while Jhope is the main dancer and choreographer. But the fact that they don’t emphasised on individuality roles more than the whole group itself made them shine. That is one of the main contributing factor how they win so many fans. Imagine everyone in the group wants to outshine, the whole group would seem unnatural and force. It would not be seamless if you’re not selfless. When someone asked, what’s their success, people would say it’s the internet, they being humble would say it’s armys. But before converting people into their fans, that honour is theirs. They won our hearts with their selfless attitude and teamwork.
I don't think they are repeating moves from previous choreography, rather the audience had been unaware of how MUCH of BTS choreography in based on contemporary dance. I don't think the more advanced members are holding back. I see that their trainer and choreographers have sculpted pieces for group presentation and worked everyone to a very high standard regardless of innate ability. So when main dancers rotate in and out the chorus is stable. Likewise the leads step back for the other singers. Otherwise everything would be unbalanced.
yes, BTS is greatest performers alive! there are many amazing dancers but BTS make every choreography better coz you could see and feel how united and how much trust they have for each other that their performance comes out phenomenal every time! BTS is the best! there's nothing like BTS! BTS never try to outshine each other. whenever a member is in the center or should be the focus, the other members make him shine without letteing themselves fade in the background! the focused member stands out yet the other members' still perform equally amazing!
Thank you so much for stating nothing but facts !! unfortunately ive heard of people claiming that the boys are losing their hard dance touch, but I concur bc hard and forceful steps dont always mean "good" choreo. Im so happy you see the impact of their take on contemporary on their b-side song Black swan !!
They’re not losing their skills by any means. They did take a break with it with Boy With Luv but this is a whole ‘nother beast with Black Swan. Different genre, different skill set :)
@@JeffAvenue exactly! plus its all about their concept for each era and from MOTS: Persona BWL, they more likely, from my interpretation, represented smth about getting along and dancing along with ARMY. they said it themselves that it was literally a song made for us (hence halsey dances with the boys and are just enjoying each others company and having fun).
This was a great reaction. It’s crazy some people actually think because of the style of dance that this is an easy choreography when in fact it’s extremely difficult. It isn’t even enough to know the moves if you can’t put any passion and emotion in them too like they did.
thank you! omg some people actually think this is an easy choreo? wow. extremely difficult like I said. only the trained can do this type of dance and not have it look cringey.
I love you 💜 you just worded out everything I had in mind.... Their movements are so sharp and they just blend together so beautifully.... The stage setup doesn't overwhelm us, the whole performance just is in harmony. I'm gonna go watch this a million times over 😍😘
Thank you, love your reaction, I learn alot from your perspective about their performance..the choreography is really insane. and yes I agree all of them should be the dance line..even Jin, Namjoon and Yoongi danced so well :)
In this performance Hoseok got high kicked really hard by Taehyung during Black Swan he thought he was almost going to knock out. Taehyung was so nervous he was unaware that he kicked Hoseok and felt really sorry after. Hoseok said you will be able to find it in the video if you look closely. They are such professionals. It still amazes me how they can continue a performance even when injured, in pain or have a shirt hanging by a loose button -- darn, that button!
Achu ArMy018 professionals! In the moment, nothing else matters except the performance. As performers, we only acknowledge any type of “mistake” or “accident” when we get off stage. I once had a colleague who almost passed out after a performance but she went through the routine as a pro. Unfortunately, these things do happen especially with choreo like Black Swan.
One of my favourite performance from them, it's like a dream filled with beauty and grace. I'm fascinated by the way you describe the dance moves and the vibes, I can sense your deep love and passion for dance.
Great reaction 😍and you are right it was Grammy 's loss that BTS didn.t had their own stage, but our boys slayed they didn.t need Grammy to show that they are the best 💜💜💜
I think this stage and performance was full of heart. Sure, Grammy is BIG, but with James Corden, they also had fun and drew attention. I think the producers were crying happy tears seeing the global response... Maybe 2020 will be the year of a Grammy nomination and another phenomenal performance...

i didn’t see this in the comments so i just wanted to mention that the move at 8:33 is actually from the chorus of I Need U and it’s known for being the “point choreo” i think that’s what it’s called haha. it’s the move that you would associate with that song.
That slow inwardly directed circular group move - the opening of Danger choreo. I've noticed the repetition of certain movements throughout the 7 years too. It does seem to have a symbolic language with repeated themes. Dance IS a non-verbal language using the body to express aspects of mind, emotion, spirit, and creativity, yes? Just as the storyline progresses and repeats universal themes such as Self Love. Perhaps the circled lean represents group togetherness, friendship, brotherhood, unity, mutual support and protection under the heavy burden of life, fame, haters, etc. Family Love. Bulletproof.
They all brought their unique thing to this performance but I was captivated by Suga and I was not expecting that! I truly think the Grammys missed out, their loss and I think they are afraid of the power of BTS tbh, like they make all the other mega stars look like amateurs!
Patiently I listened all of your analyzes which I usually skipped when another reactor did that...Good!!! grammy not good, not good for heart health!!!
I love your reactions because you focus so much on all their movements as a whole unit or individually. I think your point of view is very interesting. And as another commented before, check “tomorrow” live version, I think you’ll like it very much (the lyrics are amazing too)

I think that special stance with their arms raised and to the side represents them saying: "Behold!" Almost godlike...showing how awesome it all is!!
Lol I wouldn’t mind that interpretation at all!
Thank you Jeff. Your observations are spot on. I enjoy your channel.
Just love your reactions Jeff you truly are a fan , you are beautiful in and out
Mandy Byrne aww thank you so much!! ☺️
First timer here and I agree, you exude a very genuine vibe.
Chris Del Ⓥ wow thank you! I appreciate that! Thank you for watching and checking out my videos :)
I really like your insight on their dancing, don't apologise for mumbling : ) I'm gonna check out your other reactions too
thank you! I'm glad I didn't lose some of you when I talk and talk lol
Magical BTS! So amazing....
I loved so much your reaction to bts!❤️
✨BTS IS MAGIC. ✨
Tati Army thank you!! And yes they are!
This was such a stunning and very breathtaking performance. 👏
well just found your channel and lets manifest this black swan to be perfomed at the grammys in 2021;)
First time watching your reaction video. Loved everything you said. Lots of smart words.
Keep up a good job.
Love from Singapore 🇸🇬💜
Thank you so much! Singapore is such a beautiful country!
Your comments on their performance are so on point 👍👍👍👍
I love you 💜 you just worded out everything I had in mind....
Their movements are so sharp and they just blend together so beautifully....
The stage setup doesn't overwhelm us, the whole performance just is in harmony.
I'm gonna go watch this a million times over 😍😘
aw thank you so much! that means a lot!
Thank you, love your reaction, I learn alot from your perspective about their performance..the choreography is really insane. and yes I agree all of them should be the dance line..even Jin, Namjoon and Yoongi danced so well :)
I’ve now found my new fav reactor👏
AW YAY! thank you!
Well said with the blending comment 😄 i like ur attention to details and u notice their movement so well and understand the dance moves.
I love this reaction video :D How he seemed breathless while watching them that's really relatable!
Hah I was breathless! this choreo is everything!
@@JeffAvenue Nothing but the truth! It was really one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen
@@JeffAvenue I used to dance back at my school, college days and I also had accidents so I understand completely what you're saying
Wings Love it’s ok, we’ll get em next year!
It's always a pleasure listening to you, yours is not only a technical analysis but an emotional one! And I love it
I think this stage and performance was full of heart. Sure, Grammy is BIG, but with James Corden, they also had fun and drew attention. I think the producers were crying happy tears seeing the global response... Maybe 2020 will be the year of a Grammy nomination and another phenomenal performance...
James’ show has treated the boys so well. I’m sure they got a lot of offers where they would debut this song and they chose Corden.
7:58 V accidentally hit jhope's head at first I thought it was suga.. jungkookie 🐰💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
THIS SONG AND THE CHOREO IS AN ART
I love how you reacted to the video.. you're really true a performer..
Thank you!! More than 10 years now :)
Bangtan Boys...are nervous at the same time emotional while performing the Black Swan...
Army Philippines....
We appreciate your reactions....
How many times I have been reaching to BTS black swan can’t remember and I’m still continue to watch this video ❤️
Yes, we know they are all the complete package on this earth and the universe!!!
👋love your reaction as always. I love that part you mention @ 11:43 it feels different from the other choreographies , i love it 💜💜
I love that you were as excited as I was ! I couldn't speak either!
I love your reaction to this performance. You as a dancer really saw every detail of their every move. Thank you. 💜
I love this performance the boys are so versatile.
They truly are!
Thank you. Im really enjoy your reaction so much. Thank you for appreciation our boys.
I totally agree with you. That they are so blend, because me personally I don't have such talent as dancing 😒 and watching these guys myself like you can never fucos on each member because like you said they're so blend and no matter how many times you watch them, like all u do the whole time is 😲🤯🙄 hope, I explained myself well😅 loved your reaction💜
NamGi Noona7 hhaha yes I fully understand!
i love your reaction so much please keep loving them
Bts did so great, love them 😍💜😭
I've been enjoying all your videos, and learning so much since I'm sooo not a dancer. It's great to hear from someone who knows about dance and explain it. Keep up the great work.
Renee Bryant thank you!!
You're very right^^ this is a masterpiece .
Thanks Jeff like your reactions ^~^
thank you so much!
Suga once said... I don't dance but when I do I'm good at it.
Enjoyed your reaction. I love this performance. 💜💜💜
I literally just spent 12 minutes and 48 seconds staring at your cheekbones. And smile. FACE. BOI WHY U SO HANDSOME PLS CALM DOWN. NO ONE TOLD U TO ATTACK ME LIKE THIS.
I need to go lay down for a bit.
LOL you're funny! But thank you :)
I love ur explanations.they're different in other kpop groups...eversince....they're not just working, group, dancer nor singer...they made their group a significance, family and different to others.huh..cant explain enough, too.tnx to u!
They are incredible ... as always🔥💜
BTS as always is so amazing ♥️👌🏻💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Jin 😍💜🌹voice
Your reactions are so cute & it's clear you are a fan
their theme is 7 - like its about all of them, they all have their moment to shine and there is no fame hungry spotlight stealing one that you usually find in a group.
patchsox1 thank you! And yess! Their teamwork is priceless and that’s why they’re successful!
why are u so cute 🙏💕i love when u are fanboing over bts and especially for Jimin
Loved hearing your analysis of this video. You’re a great speaker and fanboy haha. Don’t worry about the mumbling it just shows how passionate you are. I’ve been watching a few of your videos and the content and analysis is so good for someone like me who doesn’t understand dance. It’s very eye opening. Keep up the great work!
This choreography seems like the pair of the FAKE LOVE just in my thought.. so much beautifully connected😭😭😭 And i really appreciate ur comment about 'show off'!! Yes they are just one-unit-body😭
I really love your reactions because they're so *my reaction* .. Feeling nervous before starting the video and stopping it to take a breath and you giving them the appreciation they deserve is what I love the most 👌🏻✨ Keep going by your reactions 🔥
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it!
@@JeffAvenue 💜💜 go check the outro if you didn't it came out from like 10 minutes!!
i didn’t see this in the comments so i just wanted to mention that the move at 8:33 is actually from the chorus of I Need U and it’s known for being the “point choreo” i think that’s what it’s called haha. it’s the move that you would associate with that song.
I was impressed with suga...he was awesome.
sailor moon he was AMAZING in this!!
I'm enjoying your reactions. It's how I feel watching them. In awe 😁
Laura B aw thank you!!
Love that!
“this is art”
YASSSS
I love all of your awesome insights and thoughtfulness you put into your reactions💜💜
Ps love the Oswald statue in the back 😉
6:02 Yes!!! I was wondering why only BTS stage can catch my eyes, there is non one particular stand out that makes the picture balance.
8:32 i think that move that your talking about is from their song I Need U :) just wanted to put it out there
Great reaction to this. And as an aside....you are very handsome, and have a FABULOUS haircut! You look good!
Aww thank you! You’re very sweet :)
They all brought their unique thing to this performance but I was captivated by Suga and I was not expecting that! I truly think the Grammys missed out, their loss and I think they are afraid of the power of BTS tbh, like they make all the other mega stars look like amateurs!
patchsox1 Right?!! This performance was insane!! Them other stars look lazy at this point.
Patiently I listened all of your analyzes which I usually skipped when another reactor did that...Good!!! grammy not good, not good for heart health!!!
Wow! That’s saying something! Thank you!
They blend in so well as a group and does not overpower each other.. Yeah I understand what you're trying to say. They're unique as a group.
Preach it!!! The Grammy are blind to not want this amount of talented, tall (- Jimin), handsome and humble Idols to preform on stage. 10:47 🙌🏽😤
THANK YOU SO MUCH JEFF!!! LOVEYAA
no, thank YOU :)
I luv with all reaction u made...that make me always smile...😉😉
I love your reaction 💜 *you nice...keep going 😁
Did u notice that the way Bts started they ended. Like the poses are the exact same and I think that means something. Loved your reaction by the way💕
oh thank you! yes definitely noticed that too! they kinda did that like for Boy With Luv as well.
If you noticed they didn't have shoes, there stage was a lake. And swans look still on top as there working under water. They were the swans.
Caryn Dempsey oOooo cool!! I didn’t catch that but amazing observation!
Your reaction is so awesome 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love your reactions because you focus so much on all their movements as a whole unit or individually. I think your point of view is very interesting. And as another commented before, check “tomorrow” live version, I think you’ll like it very much (the lyrics are amazing too)
Nuria Saladrigas Larroy getting really curious about this Tomorrow performance now. Will definitely check it out! And thank you so much!!
Jeff Avenue I’ll be waiting for it 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yes! This is the era of BTS. 😍
