Some guy said that Amy a $hit writer and Cuckman was a genius, well what do think now? Btw. what do you think about the token LGBT character in the game?
The relationship between Dina and Ellie was fine. If you mean the little girl boy Lev the character was fine but the fact that he was trans really added nothing and had no real plot relevance. It was like someone said let's add a trans character and then invent a subplot for them to be in the game and not the other way around.
The sexual obsession of the activists who wrote this game is disturbing... Gamers don't really roll like that. The game is a tacky insight into the mind of a low-IQ sexual degenerate.
@@RatedRPG He\she\wtf was there to make Scars look like they want to chop every gays nuts off. so basically the ending is: ellie leaves her family for revenge, treks across the country to SAVE the life of joels murderer, but not before letting abby bite off 2 of her fingers so she cant play guitar
@@93ImagineBreaker Yes, Abby comes out in better shape having lost her friends, her boyfriend, the community she lived in, her dog, and she was enslaved and tortured for months. Imagine thinking losing everything is a contest and the character you like slightly losing that contest is a problem with the game, way to miss the entire point of the game, lmao! I wonder when you people will find something real to complain about this game.
It wasn't just Ellie, but ALL the characters were not realistic and were parodies. Joel in part 2 is NOT the same Joel from part 1. Same for Tommy, and the new characters were just plain awful. You have to be either a terrible writer or a narcissist to write characters this bad. And for the people wondering how this game could be so bad when the first game was so good, need to understand that in the first game Druckmann did NOT write this game alone, nor did he have full control. In part 1, Amy Hennig (a legend in game writing) and Bruce Straley were there to help flesh out the story and reign in Druckmann's darker fantasies. This was hinted at by former ND employees. With everyone from the first game GONE from Naughty Dog, with the exception of Druckmann, there is NOBODY to reign in his sick impulses and check him. In fact, there are videos of early interviews where Druckmann flat out stated on camera that if anyone expressed a dislike for this game's story that he fired them. The guy is a narcissist.
Only parts of the game I liked were the Joel flashbacks I felt the characters come through in those but otherwise I hated it. I still don't know what the point of the whole B story with Abby's friends was. By time it start we already know all these people are dead so there is literally no reason to get attached to them.
Want more evidence how the guy’s a narcisist? Aside from the fact that he inserted himself as two characters in the game one of which he most likely agreed to provide the likeness for (the spitting pendejo), there’s a playing card showing a fictional villain character called Dr Uckmann whose stats says “Brains : 100” and “Brawn : 60” or something like that and guess which real life person the character’s based off? Again this might be already known by many but there’s just a little reminder
@@RatedRPG the point of the B story wasn't to get attached to Abby's friends but to show a bit more humanity in their characters instead of being just one note like they were up until that point.
silvercro The execution fell flat though, as the idea to humanise people and show that everyone is struggling and had to adjust to the apocalypse was already done in the first game: with people being rounded up and lined up just to get shot, using ration cards, and everyone just wallowing in their misery or sitting on their couch in the city; and the characters of Sam and Henry just getting by together, depending on each other. The intent that the WLF squad and Abby are characters that we should care about failed in its attempt, because of the fact that their story starts as a revenge plot without any hesitation even after their target saves them from almost certain death, and to just go on with their vengeance, doesn’t warrant any sympathy for their character or the lives they live; the way I see it, their deaths are just the outcome of their choices and actions, it doesn’t make me wanting to stop Ellie on her rampage, and instead cheer for her instead. As one commenter have said: “An eye for an eye, makes the world blind; but justice is blind.”
I felt like something died inside me after finishing this game. Days later I still can't believe this is real. Literally I feel like Naughty Dog brutally murdered something I loved so deeply for years. What they did with Last of Us brand is downright criminal.
The ending was terrible, it was so fucking sad and unsatisfying, they tried to get us to love Abby but she only came off as an OK character at most in the end. I feel that Neil's mind is so full of shit by the end of the play.
This i did not know. Now I do and I completely understand why. I feel like the graphics department needs a raise and the writers need a kick in the teeth
Why is it no one will just hire good writers. Naughty Dog should never have let Amy Henning go cause she wrote good. Disney should have asked Timothy Zahn for a star wars script. Literally hire the people who are best for the job
I love how they paint her dad as a Saint. He willingly was ready to murder a child for a chance of generating a cure. Do you know how long trials and testing go in to generating any type of cure for anything? More than likely they would have failed while murdering a child. No one was immune thats why ellie was so rare. So they've never tried this, never had another subject that they could work on that was immune, limited resources and youre telling me that they on the first try were going to generate a cure with no problem. Those doctors were monsters and there's a reason why they got the shotgun while i picked my girl up and took her to safety. Joel was the epitome of safety in that environment and world. He was never tricked and knew more importantly how to avoid and prevent danger. He was a hunter before and knew all the tricks and traps. Just replay the last of us and its so apparent that what happened to joel would never, ever happen. He was my favorite character and to me and many many people, he was the last of us. So with that said what happened to joel is exactly what they did to this franchise and their fanbase. F naughty dog and Neil cuckman, ill never support another game from them and their ideological agenda bullshit.
Yes exactly! I've been a MRVS (medical research volunteer subject) and I knew the worst possible thing those doctors could do was to kill Ellie. That wouldn't work even in a fully-functional technical society like ours, let alone in theirs. Much could be learned by studying her blood; but killing her would be killing the only immune human (as far as they knew) and that's something no genuine scientists would do. Also, now that she's 19, Naughty Dog could've written an interesting story around how some people considered it Ellie's "moral duty" to have sex with some guy in the hopes her immunity is potentially heritable; and how she'd feel conflicted about whether she could do that or not, because she's lesbian. But this mess was just a cheap lazy trashfire.
The moment I realized Jessie was actually good guy with a competent head on his shoulders, I knew he was gonna get brutally murdered at some point. Sucks, man.
The world needs a strong female character. I know, let's make her physically strong, like body builder strong. Yeah, because that's what people want right? Seriously, how is it that hardly anyone in the 21st Century can write a strong female character? Strong doesn't mean stronger than men. Strong doesn't mean better than men. Strength comes from standing your ground against adversity, in whatever form that comes. Strength comes from struggling to overcome obstacles and finally succeeding.
Abby's backstory should have been the prologue. The whole game should have been Joel and Ellie dealing with turmoil with what he did in the past. Ellie can hate him but everyday is a gift because of what Joel did. As this is happening cities are getting more spores. The only place that seems safe is Washington. Joel and Ellie go there to clear it out. At the climax Joel bumps into Abby and we get a great shock moment. You never play as Abby. Ellie gets revenge but ends up becoming the kind of person Joel was. Ellie realizes that this is the way the world is. *Fade to black * Title card.
@@RatedRPG I actually thought of a better ending that could be fixed with DLC and very little resources. What if Ellie only saved Lev and left Abby to die? She didn't have to save Abby but also didn't kill her. You could do a 6 month jump with Ellie and Lev on the farm. Lev ask if Abby was found dead like Ellie claims. Ellie then lies exactly like Joel did at the end of the first game. *Title card* Such a small tweak could fix a lot of problems. Abby's story wouldn't be pointless because it was really about Lev. Damn it, it was right there Neil!
I'm a female gamer who has completed both the original and this game. I must say I completely agree with your thoughts. The creators really underestimated our love for Joel. I really came in thinking this was going to be a SEQUEL to the first. The female representation is even disappointing due to non-interesting characters. I'd much prefer seeing Joel and his father-figure like character accompanying Ellie on her journey for forgiveness as a sequel. Very disappointed and wondering if we'll ever get to see such relatable and compelling characters like Joel and Ellie were again in these types of games.
agree, the story totally garbage. if character have to die, at least meaningful death saving Ellie or the others, not ridiculous story by get self trap with bunch strangers armed man. survive 24 years and suddenly lost the survival instinct.
It's good to see that people can just ignore the critics of this game when they have to make shit up about the plot to pretend it's badly written. Joel has been living in a protected community that regularly helps stragglers for 4 years, he's older, and he's in a situation where he has no choice but to trust the person he just saved. He wasn't even trusting them, he clearly thought the situation was suspicious as he walked in that room but again, what choice did he have. If you think that's him being stupid then you are a moron who should stop pretending your opinion is relevant.
Todd Polanski Yara an Lev were amazing characters and you don’t give the credit? Hell, if it wasn’t for lev Ellie and Dina would be dead. How about you actually try the game instead of listening to other people views on it. Be your own person and not a sheep.
AnotherGameNerd 다섯 I’m not trying to be mean but I don’t care about Dina it would actually make me happy if she died because she was unintentionally ruining Ellie’s character
Colin Pierre the dlc Ellie and Dina were cute and worked well together this Ellie and Dina just mindlessly fuck and absolutely annoy me with every choice they make
The only characters in this game who were not stupid or ***holes were the horses. And the only good parts of the game were the flashbacks, because those are TLOU reminders.
if you played both stories simultaneously and the ending would be the encounter, and you would be able to choose what character to play as against the other, and be able to choose to kill her. . AND ABBy WOULD BE A GOOD LOOKING STONG WOMAN (not a body builder). . this would have worked.
I get the idea of playing as Abby was to humanize Joel's killer and flesh out her friends but then when Abby started killing WLFs with Lev, her friends and comrades who she fought beside, many times, i hated her on a whole different level. Ellie was a surly arsehole thru the entire game. I actually only connected with Owen, Abby's ex who was sick of all the killing; WLFs, Scars, Joel, and wanted a clean break (and more weird angry sex with Bobbie I mean Abby) No character development no growth no retrospection no real justification for anything, just two orphan girls with daddy issues, one with a steroid problem, making dozens and dozens of other orphans. There's dark and edgy and there's bad story writing, im going try and get my money back too.
I forced myself not to read the leaks cause I wanted to experience the good the bad and the ugly for myself. So I went to GameStop with a fistful of dollars and bought the game. My personal opinion is naughty dog should have left LOU1 alone as a standalone game but they just wanted a few dollars more.
Same, was tempted to read leaks but held off. Then I saw twitter and TH-cam blow up with outrage and had to investigate. Saw the plot and decided I can’t monetarily support this kind of garbage storytelling and characters assassination.
@@Rei-bg3rf The people who like this game are the same type who believe BvS is cinema's crowning achievement & that the "Martha" moment is profound genius. In other words, emotionally stunted cretinous dolts with minimal life experience.
A serious question, how on earth can the media all think it’s a 10? I think this game could be the most returned/traded in game of all time. Not heard any positive reviews yet from “real” gamers.
Because the egalitarian media thinks they know better than the rest of us what high art is. this is the same thinking that leads to movies people have never heard of getting Oscars while popular movies only get nominated for best sound design
Technically, graphic, sounds, etc are top notch! but those things are meaningless because of the story and characters. It ruins our good memories of the 1st game. I wish it ended in TLOU part 1
Because they bought and paid for and what I mean by that is they don’t want to lose their early access. Problem here is they’ve lost a ton of credibility giving this a 10. Can we ever trust them again?
It's like someone looked at an amazing movie that was an instant classic an everyone loved and said "Hey let's make a sequel cause money and let's make sure everyone hated the people they used to love cause sequel"

Well, Druckmann actually mentioned himself that "this game would be diversive" .. so apparently they knew some of us wouldnt like it .. that is also why all the 10/10 media reviews are so disturbing to see.
Anyone who gave this 10/10 is a liar. Now you know which reviewers to ignore for the future. (all of them), you can only really go with users reviews nowadays.
Seeing some of the people on twitch play it, yes it looks great. But that is only part of a game. And I mostly worry about the story. Which can easily kill a game. I play games to have FUN... and this doesn't sounds like FUN to me!
"Let the past die... Kill if you have to." This is the only time a quote from the new SW trilogy is acceptable. The story is what killed the game for me not the mechanics or visuals.
@@RatedRPG There are a lot of games in the industry that are carbon copy, Assassin Creed, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Battlefield. But when games do something different, and make you feel, anger, hate, frustration and stuff that we need to go to other media to experience I don't get why "gamers" hate them. We really don't deserved Death Stranding or innovation in mechanics and story telling if we just want the same fun thing forever and play Call of Duty 12, Assassin Creed in Space or whatever.
I get you but this isn't anger created by a emotional response generated by characters own emotions but the poor production quality of the writing. I'm not a fan of annual franchises like COD so I get it. Death stranding for example is a game I still don't know how I feel about. I didn't like it but was really well made and the presentation and music made me feel things. There were times the story made me tense. In the end I didn't love it but I'm happy I played it. If probably the first time I have not known how I felt about a game. In this case I just hate the treatment of characters by the writing and the senselessness of the plot.
@@RatedRPG I got your point but I'm talking about how I feel how playing and not what the characters feel in the game. I play the game while my sister watching I while I was doing the Nora chase I failed the first time and she started cheering the second time but mid way she asked why are chasing that woman and I started to explain that Nora was there watching while the "father" of Ellie was getting kill and now I'm chasing the killers. And she asked so you are going to chases and kill some woman for watching, my sister asked while finishing the sentence with "some hero you are, I hope you failed agian". And I kind of forgot even what Nora did or said in the Joel scene, but now I was there chasing to kill her. When are we going to be in that position agian in a videogame, playing the villain.
@@RatedRPG death stranding failed as a game IMO. Yes everything is done pretty well but it is a game and I do not enjoy playing it thus as a game it failed.
I never emphasized with Abby or anyone on her side, it didn’t bother me at all that Ellie took me down one by one. There are so many issues with this game that I can’t believe what mainstream reviewers are saying, this is no masterpiece and honestly it hurts a little bit that some of my favorite video game characters didn’t get a satisfying conclusion to their story and I’m not saying that meaning it needed to be a happy ending. I would’ve been fine with Joel dying if there had been some kind of meaning to it but the way this story turns out none of it means anything, Ellie is totally ruined in the end and Abby is apparently totally goddamn fine.
The "subverting expectations" homily that turns the tables on its audience in the sequel is very simple-minded, because most people who played the original _realised_ that Joel wasn't a "good guy". They don't need to know there are no good guys in the world of TLoU. It was this condescension towards the audience that riled me.
I feel you with all the points man. Can’t even get a refund, the game has sentimental value just from the flashbacks with Joel, and actually decent sequences of the game. I couldn’t bring myself to delete the game even though Druckmann fucked it all up, 7 years...
I get it man I get it. I'll probably end up buying the game again in 10 years when it cost like five bucks but until then I can't justify to myself paying $80 for this. So I'm just going to use that money for other games that I will probably like more.
@JosephV001 Why not just save or download the flashback scenes from the game and return it? You can even watch them on TH-cam. I myself will never buy this garbage even if it's $5. Actually I wouldn't even play it if it was free, have better things to do with my time.
It’s ironic that people say that if you don’t like the game that you’re some sort of phobic when the abuse of Lev for being trans is just a cheap plot device. If the game were actually trying to be progressive, the dynamics between the different characters would have been well thought out and heart felt rather than forced. It’s ironic to weaponize identity politics when ND is using identity to abuse a character
@@MrSwitchblade327 ND really went "We have a bland trans character that's gonna be abused and deadnamed! We virtuous enough yet??" Like, diversity is meant to just be like "hey, this character is a badass, they are also trans" you don't write a whole story solely based on struggles of being a straight person. If you want diversity, give equality to the diverse cast. Jeez
"The story moves in an excruciating slow rate, boring af." Checked. "No likeable character... Ellie is an asshole in this game." This is where I checked out. See, there was this one scene (in the museum i believe) where Ellie was explaining shit to Dina and the vibe was pretty ok so I thought yes this is what i wanna see then boom Ellie I'm pregnant then Ellie went all you are now a liability to us and i was like wtf??? Sorry for the horrible Grammer but halfway through writing this comment i got pissed again ffs... More people need to see this review so they don't have excuse like the low user scores are just bots or trolls fuck naughty dog
First time I've seen one of your videos, now subscribed. A very good review, from the heart, I'm glad I cancelled my pre-order. I loved the first, and from now on as far as I'm concerned, the only game in TLOU franchise. Naughty Dog with Uncharted & TLOU were a VERY big reason I bought a PS4 over Xbox. They will no longer be part of my decision process when I upgrade next time.
You know what I wanted? I actually DID kinda enjoy the idea of a revenge quest, but it would’ve been cool if: A. Joel’s death was more creative and believable and realistic. B. Everyone in the room _when_ Joel died were all 100% evil, horrible human beings. C. You sometimes switch to their perspective and see how awful they are, making you want to end their lives even more. (Polar opposite of what really happened when you switch perspectives) And D. Ellie is less of an asshole, and the revenge quest is actually a good fun journey through Seattle, because I think the wrecked landscape of Seattle was pretty damn cool.
Wow a game in which people feel good about what what they are doing and who they are doing it too. Imagine if woke thought of that. That's exactly what everyone wanted but we did not get. Part of the reason David was such a good villian. After all he was a frickin cannibal.
RatedRPG like think of how cool that would be though. Each of those people all have vastly different backgrounds, ethnicities, weaknesses, strengths, etc. and the only thing making them all similar is that they are all flat out evil. Like how in the Black Ops 1 Campaign there’s three different sons of bitches you gotta kill. And the grand finale of the game should’ve been Abby, except her character sucked so someone like her. I thought the School chapter where Jordan (the one guy with the hat one who Ellie gives a big scar) has her all tied up, and that moment was genuinely suspenseful and skin crawling, because Jordan to me was the only one in that room who seemed truly evil.
Dude, you are right on the money with this review. Here is to better times in Last of Us Part 3: More of Us (wherein we really start to recover from the zombacalypse and begin to rebuild and cooperate and families are the goal with town-quests galore ;-)

If you are going to make a story around a trope like revenge you really got to bring your A-game. Red Dead Redemption had a better revenge story in its last 30 minutes of epilogue than this entire game.
It would have worked without the whole "enemies side of the story" trope to try to make you sympathize just so Druckmanns fantasy "girl"friend doesn't die at the end. He needs to be ousted from naughty dog.
I think they had different writers who didn't play the original. Joel survived for 26 years and they made him out to be an amateur. He broke the main rule of survival in that world. And he NEVER would have done that in the first game.
Very well done review. I had did my best to avoid spoilers and had done that up until the day before release. Something about how they've been handling the leak situation gave me a bad feeling so I refunded it. I'm really glad I did because actually playing through Joel's death would have been terrible. And then expecting you to play as Abby to feel the story from her perspective makes no sense. All I want is for her to die. Anyways man great review you've gained a follower ✌️
@@RatedRPG I've been playing video games for real a long time. I think the longest I've ever played video games for was for like 8 hours to 10 hours maybe. I just had to say that was pretty damn impressive.
i felt exaclty the same! you just took the words of my mouth! and i think a lot of people felt the same. that means there something really bad in the game.
It's an above average game with sky high expectations. 1. Good graphics is wasted with dark basement and grey sky. Refer to vivid colors in Uncharted. 2. Replace beloved characters with new well developed and likable characters. Making everyone equal where the audience don't connect with any one of them is not good writing. 3. The middle of the game is just mind numbing. Doing the same thing for 15 hours make the audience loose the objective of the game.
It's a shame this got made. I would 100 times rather be angry a sequel never got made than get this hot garbage. In fact I will eventually put this out of mind and go back and watch the only LoU made.
Thank you for taking the time to record a review... It must have been somewhat challenging to reflect on why you hate the game, reflect on all the scenes that probably traumatised some players including me (I completed the entire game in two sittings, I had to take a break before continuing Abby's portion. It felt like 1, cuz I did not get the rest in between the sittings...) And after the ending, just like how the game broke the characters, I felt something in me broke too... It was really such a pity that they could have better used the animation/graphics to tell an engaging immersive story, rather than this forced poorly planned out revenge plot angst... Their characters could likely have lost their personalities because of wanting them to fit in a revenge plot scenario...
Thanks. I wish gamers had a guy like Ryan George to do pitch meetings for video games. I feel like this meeting would include the phrase "because money" alot. This is not a polished review but I justed wanted it over with. I played it one sitting cause I knew I wouldn't be able to will myself to boot it back up a second time.
Dina is just too alike to Ellie. In the beginning i thought they were setting something up, to reveal her being useless in a firefight. (You know, Dina bragging about the number of infected she took out, or how young she was when she killed for the first time, while being uncomfortable with the smell of the dead deer. That was weird). But in the end they are basically the same person, so they have not enough friction between them, to write exciting things with the character.
An analogy, if this game RDR2, then imagine having to play as Micah after he killed Arthur! That will be my feeling playing as Abby. Of course u can say that she, in the end has somewhat "redeemable quality" in her, but that is too little too late. The moment she crush joel's head with a freaking golf stick (disgusting!disgusting! What they did to our beloved character), that's it! That's the point of no return for me! You are forever unforgiven abby!
Which is weird considering the player has no reason from the outset to find Abbey compelling mean while we're all rooting for Ellie but end up just not liking either of them
The gameplay in the The Last of Us Part 2 was a vast improvement, I found myself needing to give up ground to some enemies in order to turn the encounter in my favor, which I loved it. I wanted to make the enemies fight on MY terms by luring them to a point where I could pick them off, although, the AI ended up flanking me at times. The AI made it frustrating to the point because there were times where 1 enemy saw a body and suddenly every single enemy on the map KNEW where I was, even though I had killed the very enemy before they could call out. There was one thing that made me frustrated from a story point than any other: Sarah. Sarah's death was the beginning of Joel's character arc in the first game, he shut himself off from the world, only focusing on survival. During the first game, we see him beginning to see a little bit of Sarah in Ellie and he starts shedding that rough exterior and opening up to her, while also building Ellie's character, the pair complimented each other and grew together throughout the entire first game and Sarah's death was the thing that spurred Joel towards that arc. The second game ruined that by demonizing Joel in favor of making Abby the hero of this story. Remember, revenge is good if Abby is doing it, but not when it is Ellie, Abby loves animals and Ellie murders them in cold blood. Joel is a heartless murdering for saving Ellie from a fruitless attempt at making a vaccine for a fungal infection, which is physically impossible, even here in real life with all our advancements in medicine. There was nothing like that in the second game, even when it was clear they were going with that type of angle with Abby and Lev. It didn't work because Abby had no character arc, they didn't compliment each other like Joel and Ellie. Even when Yara died, there was no reaction from Abby, only Lev had any kind of reaction, but nothing changed in their characters as a result. Abby didn't have a character arc, even after killing Joel, she was a static character that was put in to defend a trans character (Lev) to appeal to social media, which is funny because they use a character to defend a trans character while beating two lesbian characters, one who is pregnant, within an inch of their lives. As much fun as I had playing through the gameplay sections, I am unable to muster the strength to playthrough the game again because of how detatched I was from the story. It was supposed to be Joel and Ellie's story, not Abby's. Let's not forget about the blatant marketing lies about how Ellie was going to be the only playable character and how Joel was going to be in it more than he was.
What makes no sense is why did Ellie just shoot Abby in the head when she was tied up? what was the point of cutting her down fight with her lose 2 fingers and the letting Abby go was freaking pointless
It's very very difficult to process everything that happens in this game. I hated it, too. I couldn't continue it when i was forced to play as Abby, so i stopped playing it for some days. It's getting better, but give yourself time to process everything. The game will not give you that time and i think that is the problem of all these discussions! The story is really very good, but only IF you are able to pull back your emotions!
Excellent review. Some defenders of the game don't acknowledge that it's not just what happens in the game that sucks, but the script, pacing, and everything else that is also terrible. Except graphics of course
Abby want to viciously kill people and screw over her friends and then act surprised when her short sighted brutal murder comes back to bite her in the ass
Just joined your channel. thank you for making this video, i hope it will be seen massively - As the mainstream media try to make us look like dumbs haters, they need to look at your kind intelligent smart face.
I literally turned the game off and will be taking it back because it's way too much abby game play smh. I couldn't do it, it's so cringed I've experienced this with any game I've ever played
I don't think the game was terrible, the sory was. In a story driven game this of course has a huge impact. But gameplay, graphics and performances are just impressive. I'll rate it a 5 or 6/10. Story alone is a 2/10 to me.
Sooooo could you return it? A lot of people have been reporting they haven’t been allowed to return it. I never bought and never will so I wouldn’t know for sure.
Technically I was not able to return it. I don't know if it's a regional thing or national but GameStop offered me full store credit for it if I brought it back within 48 hours and since I buy all my games from gamestop it was a good deal
I wasn't able to return it per se but I did get my money back. I bought it from GameStop and they have a policy where if you do not like the game and you bought it new you can return it within 48 hours for full store credit. so really I just got 60 bucks in store credit to put towards another game which was more or less the same as getting my money back since I buy all my games at GameStop.
15:19 Hey... My thought exactly! When everyone else turned to sh*ts, Jesse is the only voice of reason in this game. Only to be killed by a manic in the middle who can't figure herself out. I totally agree with Mel confronting her in their final meeting. Unpopular opinion: I kinda see six characters are 'mirrored' throughout the game to some extent: Ellie = Abby (anger driven maniacs), Mel = Jesse (level headed at most pats), Dina = Owen (se*ually-driven irrelevant characters)
Ending made no sense that's for sure. If she KILLED Abby we would've seen Ellie crying thinking about Joel, then getting that flashback. I believe the ending must've got changed and there was a lot of studio arguing about it. Overall I give this game a 6 or 7/10 it is by no means horrible but could have been amazing with a good writer. Neil's EGO got to him after the first game for sure with all the awards pouring in his pocket.
"Stupid People Making Stupid Decisions And Being Extremely Horny" should be a review blurb on the back of the box.
It was like someone said let's add a trans character and then invent a subplot for them to be in the game and not the other way around.

so basically the ending is: ellie leaves her family for revenge, treks across the country to SAVE the life of joels murderer, but not before letting abby bite off 2 of her fingers so she cant play guitar

I wonder when you people will find something real to complain about this game.
@@oBCHANo and yet ellie has no one by end of it abby still has lev and got her revenge
Druckmann is a puppet lol
@@RatedRPG the point of the B story wasn't to get attached to Abby's friends but to show a bit more humanity in their characters instead of being just one note like they were up until that point.
silvercro
The execution fell flat though, as the idea to humanise people and show that everyone is struggling and had to adjust to the apocalypse was already done in the first game: with people being rounded up and lined up just to get shot, using ration cards, and everyone just wallowing in their misery or sitting on their couch in the city; and the characters of Sam and Henry just getting by together, depending on each other.
I feel the same exact way dude
Tell me about it...
The ending was terrible, it was so fucking sad and unsatisfying, they tried to get us to love Abby but she only came off as an OK character at most in the end. I feel that Neil's mind is so full of shit by the end of the play.
I understand now why 80% of the staff working on Last of Us 2 left during production.
@@RatedRPG Amy was let go? And who wrote the first game?
Hey man, it wasn’t 80. It was 70
@@siloPIRATE 70% was the number I heard back in March from Belluar etc. last number I read was 80% since.
My feelings and so many others in a nutshell!
Couldn’t have said it better myself. To me the last of us ended at the first game.
And the Doctor's cruel experimentations are obvious when you look at Abby's phsyique...... ;)
Ah yes, vaccine trials, so relevant in the post-apocalyptic world! Stop making shit up to justify your moronic take on this game.

All that sounds super woke as fuck
This review feels genuine, really sad for people that waited 7 years only to get shat in the mouth by Neil.
You just wrote a better game in 2 minutes than the devs did in 7 years
Ok now THIS is canon as far as I know
Your hired

Yup. Why on earth would Joel go in being so friendly and introducing himself. That’s not the character we got to know in Part 1.
@@grod1126 It's Joel made from China.
The flashbacks man... The dinosaur museum and the scene in the mock space shuttle. Touching moments in this pile of garbage.
I bet you this is the first game that makes you hate both the antagonist and the protagonists. This is just awful writing and great review man.
At the end of the game I wanted them to drown each other then they'd both be dead and I'd be happy
if you played both stories simultaneously and the ending would be the encounter, and you would be able to choose what character to play as against the other, and be able to choose to kill her. . AND ABBy WOULD BE A GOOD LOOKING STONG WOMAN (not a body builder). . this would have worked.
"Her forearm is bigger than my head .." 😂😂😂
Wish more people were aware of how awful this game was going to be I read the leaks and knew then I wouldn’t give this awful company my cash

A serious question, how on earth can the media all think it’s a 10? I think this game could be the most returned/traded in game of all time. Not heard any positive reviews yet from “real” gamers.
Reviews and awards can be bought.

Man this game is such a trash fire that I almost want to play it.

Funny you mention the pacing. I picked up on that just watching let’s plays. It’s glacially slow
Lev was probably the most ridiculous, poorly written character I've ever seen in my life
@@MrSwitchblade327 ND really went "We have a bland trans character that's gonna be abused and deadnamed! We virtuous enough yet??" Best game review ever, never seen someone so despondent while rating a game.
I actually DID kinda enjoy the idea of a revenge quest, but it would’ve been cool if:
A. Joel’s death was more creative and believable and realistic.
B. Everyone in the room _when_ Joel died were all 100% evil, horrible human beings.
C. You sometimes switch to their perspective and see how awful they are, making you want to end their lives even more. (Polar opposite of what really happened when you switch perspectives)
And D.
Thanks man
RatedRPG like think of how cool that would be though.
The dinosaur flashback is pure gold! Best part of the game! Loved it! The rest though...

And they didn't force you to play as Edgar Ross after he killed John Marston either. What a genius move!
I think they had different writers who didn't play the original. Joel survived for 26 years and they made him out to be an amateur. He broke the main rule of survival in that world. And he NEVER would have done that in the first game.
Druckman and Staley writers on the original one. According to Amy Henning, Staley was the one who kept druckmann and check.

Something about how they've been handling the leak situation gave me a bad feeling so I refunded it. I'm really glad I did because actually playing through Joel's death would have been terrible.
Lmao poor guy, he gone trough hell
Hahaha i enjoyed this review a lot 😂. Hilarious, keep it up man!
I know they said the game is about hate... but i didn't know they meant hate that we bought and played it.
Totally agree. Had to stop playing after I was forced to play as Abbie. Burnt my copy
10:25 Freudian slip. It IS basically a film with how little input the player has over events or even whom to play as.
It's very transparent how they made Ellie an unlikable psychopath whilst having Abby running around doing heroic things through the whole game
I know right. Thinking of joel should have made her angry not merciful. Not to mention she killed Jesse
ellie wanted to fight abby Solid Snake vs Liquid style in MGS4
It's very very difficult to process everything that happens in this game. I hated it, too. I couldn't continue it when i was forced to play as Abby, so i stopped playing it for some days.
It's getting better, but give yourself time to process everything. The game will not give you that time and i think that is the problem of all these discussions!
The story is really very good, but only IF you are able to pull back your emotions!
The Last of Us 2 honestly feels more like a movie than a game.
A depressing movie
@@RatedRPG hell, Dragon’s Lair feels more like a game
Anthem was also a drop dead gorgeous game too..
Which Anita Sarkeesian participated in
It’s 2020. All games and movies should look good. So tired of reviewers repeating this. It looks stunning, but it’s a POS.
Nope 1st game last mission. Player can sneak pass almost all enemy. All mass killing in 2nd game cut scene is just DEV force Joel to be bad guy.
Exactly what I keep thinking, I remember trying really hard to pacifist run the game and it not letting me non-lethal the doctor
Excellent review. Some defenders of the game don't acknowledge that it's not just what happens in the game that sucks, but the script, pacing, and everything else that is also terrible. Except graphics of course
Abby reminds me of the amazons from futureama.
ABBY WANT SNU SNU!
Abby want to viciously kill people and screw over her friends and then act surprised when her short sighted brutal murder comes back to bite her in the ass
The amazons from Futurama are hotter 🤣 LOL 🤣
We unfortunately saw abby get snu snu.
Just joined your channel. thank you for making this video, i hope it will be seen massively - As the mainstream media try to make us look like dumbs haters, they need to look at your kind intelligent smart face.
Thanks. I appreciate it
Tommy: We'll help you be on your way, but don't overstay your welcome or you'll have my brother to answer to!
Joel:
Name's Rip Van Winkle
*THE END*
Star Wars/Last Jedi: check
Avatar/ The Last Air Bender Movie and Kora: check
The Last of Us/ The last of us 2: check
Conclusion: Cannon means nothing.
Played it through as well. Hated it with a passion.
Very good review
Thank you
I literally turned the game off and will be taking it back because it's way too much abby game play smh. I couldn't do it, it's so cringed I've experienced this with any game I've ever played
You can hear the pain in this man's voice
Good review, i feel your pain
So Neil Dru(n)kman after finishing the script he saw it and said "Damn my storytelling skills are goooood"?
Dude tells stories like Joe Biden remembers where he is
Just curious, were you able to return the game? They wouldn’t take mine back. Lol
I wasn't able to return it per se but I did get my money back. I bought it from GameStop and they have a policy where if you do not like the game and you bought it new you can return it within 48 hours for full store credit. so really I just got 60 bucks in store credit to put towards another game which was more or less the same as getting my money back since I buy all my games at GameStop.
me wonder if Gamestops refund
48 hour trade in for store credit equal to retail value
15:19 Hey... My thought exactly! When everyone else turned to sh*ts, Jesse is the only voice of reason in this game. Only to be killed by a manic in the middle who can't figure herself out. I totally agree with Mel confronting her in their final meeting.
Unpopular opinion:
I kinda see six characters are 'mirrored' throughout the game to some extent: Ellie = Abby (anger driven maniacs), Mel = Jesse (level headed at most pats), Dina = Owen (se*ually-driven irrelevant characters)
