The key word here is 'bring'. That word shows leadership and authority and naturally a women will healthily submit. The man is the Head of the household. So in the beginning mentions he must be level headed so reasonable. This is how you lead in a healthy and respectable manner. So the wife naturally becomes close, closer or even more closer etc depending on were her relationshipis with God. She has her husband and God. And when it is done this way it is beautiful.

what if your partner brings you closer to God but he doesn't believe in God himself? I've grown in ways I could never even imagine since dating this man and I have found my way back to God as of lately - but he himself doesn't pray and does't subscribe to a specific God

im under the impression that this is her podcast and that he is only a cohost as her father because of his great wisdom. most older men of that generation (esp the religious ones) are very stoic and private. they don't really care to be the center of attention and certainly dont ask for it.
And why men shouldn’t be with women who is not closer to God.
Yeah we should learn Islam from our husbands. Which is why our husbands should be learning ilm from masjids and scholars - so we can then learn it from them inshallah
