Thank you for sharing..I subbed. I use brown craft paper to wrap my boxes in and glue a doily around one side & tie with the natural twine..then I use those tiny laundry hanging pins to hang my ty card from! It's great for small items but I need more branding and better packaging for my larger items that take way too long to wrap! Gonna try ordering a stamp & make some stickers with my logo!👍🏼
I find your videos extremely helpful in building a long lasting online shop. Seeing your success is not only inspiring it's motivational. As a new youtuber I am wondering what editing app do you use? Love the personal touch on all your videos.🥰 btw I totally subscribed to you!
Im only 11 years old, so find ways to package is really hard with barely any money. I am not trying to bug my mom and buy a whole bunch of stuff just to package with. sooo... I wrap my items (hand knitted by me) in tissue paper, and try to find a little bag normally like brown bags and put them in there like if I were wrapping a gift, now because I dont ship my items (I sell things to like people I know) I make them look pretty with adding a lot of tissue paper making it look like a gift, I then decorate the bag by coloring it or putting stickers on it, I then take it to school and get a couple bucks :)
Love this video!! Thanks! I’m 12 and I own a small biz (I crochet and make handmade stuff 😊) how I pack mine is, (I have 2 methods 🙈) the first one is: I make my own rubber stamps then stamp them on kraft paper then wrap the product and add a crochet rope around it! But another thing I do is: I wrap the product(s) in kraft paper then doodle on the package and add a small crochet rope ribbon 💜💜💜
Mei, you're so inventive with your hacks and I love the stamp idea to save money on custom logo boxes as I have looked into this and you're totally right, super expensive when you're just starting out!
I buy cheap cardboard tags from a stationery shop. I make memory keepsakes, so I take some scraps, make a heart, or flower or part of a clothing item (like the collar tip) and I add my woven label and machine sew to the tag. Looks really cute,
I wouldn't put a bow around a shipping box. It won't be able to be processed correctly and would definitely get ruined. You would have to put the bow around an inner box and then box that with a shipping box.
Your thoughts and ideas are really helping... I watch few of your videos daily and it really helps me a lot.. I learn something new each day! It's helpful for me as I've started selling my artworks... Thank you for helping us Mei🧡
Kate Castellano Take my advice: don’t use Etsy. They have so many fees that you never realise until you’ve sold your produce. Build your own free website.
@@guppy9161 as a small shop Etsy works great for me! It has a built in customer base that I know I wouldn’t be able to get on my own right now. Yes, down the road I would like to have my own website, but I 100% recommended Etsy for starting your business.
If you are just starting I would suggest Etsy - it's a low financial commitment and there's built-in traffic so you can see how your products sell. As your business grows I would add in Shopify.
Etsy is a great way to start! The traffic is great for just starting out and the platform is easy to use, takes little time. I have an Etsy and a Shopify and shopify is a complete waste of money for me. I keep it just in case one day something changes. I put in lots of time promoting it and pinning it but there's basically zero results. I've had my Etsy shop for almost 6 years!
These are suuuuuuuuuch good ideas! I'm going to start using them tomorrow. The shredded paper would be especially good idea because I've been using a lot of bubble wrap. I love tieing pine or doing wax seals.
I have a question and if I could get your opinion that would be awesome. I need to raise the price on an item by at least 20% ($45 to $55, if not more) and I'm wondering how customers might react to that? I originally priced the item way back when I was just starting out and didn't know anything about pricing. My etsy shop isn't enormously popular yet so I don't think I'm going to shock a bunch of people with the price hike but I'm wondering if you have any advice?
If you have social media accounts, you can announce it ahead of time. Like, "starting January 2021 the price of this is going to increase to $xx. If you've been looking to buy, take advantage of 2020 pricing!" You can also put this in an email blast if you have a list.
Perfect! This answers my other question for the few Dec 2020 customers who already have it in their cart right now! Thank you for helping. Most people usually don't get the opportunity for professional TH-camrs/specialists to answer their questions.
I have a stamp my mother got me with my business name on it and it has saved me a ton. I even made my own business cards plus I can put it on bags for in person shows and other packaging. I think it helps personalize things alot more. And It didn't cost much at all on Amazon. Thank you for all of these classes. I'm learning alot of things.
I have a tip. Save your bubble wrap, air paks from your Amazon orders lol. I make and ship custom timbers and other fragile items so I always save those and I think I have had to but some bubble once.
All of these things would be for inner packaging. It's kind of like sending a birthday gift - you would wrap it and then put it in an outer box or envelope to protect the gift. Doilies, ribbon, and ties go INSIDE and plain outer packaging to protect it from the shipping process.
You can look through the transcript of the video here, so you can Google the terms to see what they look like! www.creativehiveco.com/diy-packaging-ideas-for-handmade-business-cheap/
Hi! I've been following you for years and finally got the confidence to use my love of DIY to create a side hustle. I definitely found this video informative, (when aren't they lol) but I'm struggling finding some sort of packaging for a hair brush. I considered using the original packaging but by the time I'm done with them, they won't fit inside. I get overwhelmed when I try to source this specific type of box. Any advice?
First off, congrats for taking that leap into DIY entrepreneurship! That's huge! As for packaging, don't stress-I've been there too. Have you considered custom-sized boxes? You can find suppliers online who offer tailored solutions for oddly shaped items like hair brushes. It might take some digging, but trust me, it's worth it!
When I package my stationary I put handmade kind of cards and if you collect all of the cards you get a full set of all of my products for free (I also include a note thanking the person for buying my products)
You could look into the Krinkle It shredder. There are also some hand-crank crinklers out there that could work, or there's this one: smile.amazon.com/EK-Tools-54-94001-Paper-Crimper/dp/B01CURHJM2/ref=sr_1_5?crid=G28ECOYMS9A1&dchild=1&keywords=paper+crinkle+machine&qid=1606864178&sprefix=paper+crin%2Caps%2C200&sr=8-5 which would crimp the page, then you could shred it.
Because I don't personally do each of these with my own business, it would be hard for me to have examples to show them. But they are easy enough to find by searching, and you can use this transcipt to help so you don't have to keep replaying the video. 💖 www.creativehiveco.com/diy-packaging-ideas-for-handmade-business-cheap/#more-13143

Hi! Have you already tried looking at Etsy or Amazon Australia? You can also try using "paper crimper" or "paper crimper machine" or "paper crinkler", etc. in your search. Hope you find one soon!
Thank you so much! The timing on this video is perfect for me as I am just now trying to figure out packaging. Do you have a crinkler you would recommend? after watching this I looked all over online and can't seem to find one that is supposed to work. I've seen some other videos where people are folding by hand but that does not sound like a good investment of my time! Any thoughts? Thanks again!!
@@CreativeHiveCo thank you for responding! I did check them out, unfortunately their product is $250, a little too much for me right now. I will invest in a shredder though and try a hand crimper, if it doesn't work I can return it, and just use the shredded paper by itself... kinda of scrunching a bunch by hand might be enough to give it some volume. 👍🏻😊
Yes, there are some hand-crank shredders out there that could work, or there's this one: smile.amazon.com/EK-Tools-54-94001-Paper-Crimper/dp/B01CURHJM2/ref=sr_1_5?crid=G28ECOYMS9A1&dchild=1&keywords=paper+crinkle+machine&qid=1606864178&sprefix=paper+crin%2Caps%2C200&sr=8-5 which would crimp the page, then you could shred it.
I have a question! If we're doing twine or some other type of exterior to make the packaging look really pretty and vintage, how do we make that work with the shipping label? I can't imagine putting the shipping label over the twine would be a good idea, but would it work if it was underneath it? I really want to go for the vintage vibe but since I'll be sending packages and can't use stamps, I'm not sure how to make the shipping label look good on it.
You can't have anything loose on the outside of the packaging, so if you are using twine you need to put that inside a plain box or envelope so it doesn't get caught in the machines.
Hello I watched another video one said why you should use shopify. One says how you were able to get on etsy. How were you able to get back on etsy? Does shopify use their own way to drive traffic to your site? I started a wordpress site and was just wondering
