A wonderful actress, Mira Sorvino won all the major film critics awards that year, including The New York Film Critics Award, plus the Golden Globe, she was great in The Grey Zone and has received best actress Emmy nominations for made for tv films. It came out recently that perv criminals Harvey Weinstein blacklisted Mira Sorvino (AshleyJudd too, and allegedly Gwyneth Paltrow) when these three actesses, among many others came out to report his sexual harrassment and alleged assault

I haven't seen Mighty Aphrodite but Kate Winslet was absolutely amazing in Sense and Sensibility and should have won...

Mira is a complete class act!!! She still has a lot left to give the acting world. Her father was so proud as he should be. Rest well Mr Sorvino!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Mare Winningham looked gorgeous in here. I really liked her performance in Georgia, it was a surprising nomination for me to be honest. It took me some viewings to realise however, the many shades of her character and how well she played (or underplayed) them. But Mira was a deserving winner.

That was so honest and beautiful.. we could see that true emotions come out there. All that talk about actors doing their bit on stage proved wrong. Mira Sorvino was so beautifully humble, gentle and sweet on stage, especially when she thanked her parents. Very touching speech!!

The dress that Mira is wearing is very beautiful and iconic.. but very few people talk about it..

This is still one of my favourite acceptance speeches to listen to. So beautiful to see her thanking everyone so eloquently, and when she mentions about honouring her father, it never fails to bring tears to my own eyes.

Even as such a great actor, that kind of real emotion cannot be faked!!

I had the pleasure of meeting Paul Sorvino a few years ago in Michigan, and he was one of the nicest people Anyone'll ever meet.
