You can also push a popsicle stick up to the tip of the airbrush at an angle and spray it against the end of the stick and let it splatter from there. You get a much more controlled splatter this way.
Popsicle stick makes some of the dots more like splatter drops than dots.....this way makes perfectly circular dots which makes for a more realistic look.
Cheers - I am doing some wound markers using clear 15mm bases and tamiya clear red so this technique should be perfect for getting good splatters!
Seriously?! It's that easy?!! I've been trying to figure this out for years! Thank you! Can't wait to go try it!
Yeah! Give it a go!
Excellent explanation and example. Thanks.
This will be perfect for painting X-Wing bases!! Thanks!
Hell yes...I needed this. Thanks
Thats great. In engineering structural analysis we use this kind of speckle using a computational technique called Digital Image correlation
wow, thats awesome, I will be using this a lot!! thank you
I know this an old video, but god... thanks for saying what that mac valve was!!! I was about to go on a Google hunt for whatever that was because it looked so useful! So many videos dont actually tell you what the tools and attachments are.
You're welcome! I appreciate you letting me know this was helpful. People generally like to tell me that my videos are too long. lol
THIS IS WHAT i'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A LONG TIME, THANKS, I'LL GO WITH IT. THANIKS
Great tip! Thanx Jay
good tutorial! Thanks. I'm going to try this.
This was awesome I can't wait to try this out, thanks for the tip
That is an ace tip! Thanks for sharing it. :)
what was that ultra silent compressor that you used in this video?
Very helpful! Thanks so much.
I was trying to figure out how to do this with an airbrush. Thanks. I was thinking I would need a spray bottle instead.
Thank you so much this is great
dude this is a great tip, beats using tongue depressors or toothbrush handles like i used airbushing the stone effects on tshirts.
+ta24u I know that a couple of times I said that it's not that controllable, but it's WAY more controllable than doing those other methods.
Definitely the other ways fine for open area but this way you am have a bit more control over the spray
You are an absolute legend!!! I was wondering how to do this for a Jean Grey-Dark Phoenix figure I'm doing!!
Awesome! I'm so pleased you found this useful. It's something I use with startling regularity.
Mindblowing :) ty
nice video!! thank you .. i will definitly use this
Great tip.
does this only work on duel action or could say a paasche h do this too ? single action needle adjustment
Bri w In theory I think it could work but I've not tried it.
what size needle did you use? and what was the name of the paint as well? Thank you!
0:53 he says the paint
what do you call that valve you use to alter the pressure?
Iwata calls it a Mac Valve.
Thanks for sharing :D
This stippling, splatter effect is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks.
Nice :)
What compressor are you using?
Not sure which one that was. Probably my California Air Tools compressor.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU WANT A GOLD DOTS
