I really feel 1989 is just having this model boyfriend but deep down u actually know u r single living happily in the city. He is a nice hot guy, u genuinely like it, and u know even u break up, u 2 can still be good friends and hang out sometimes
Self-Titled - the guy your parents want you to marry that bores you red - love bombs you but won't commit reputation - the guy you date that's different from everyone you've dated just so you can try something new lover - the work in progress you convince yourself is the one because you aren't getting any younger folklore - it's getting cold and you're lonely but he's good enough so why not
Debut: the boy next door Fearless: Hallmark works-with-his-hands home town boyfriend Speak Now: Passionate secret romance bf Red: Commitment-issues Player bf 1989: Surfer-bro golden retriever bf Rep: broody toxic bf Lover: Cinnamon roll best friend bf Folklore/Evermore: Romantic-soul poet bf Midnights: Cool guy bf TTPD: Foreign sexy bf who smokes cigarettes and has an accent 😂
Based on just the lyrics of the albums, I think folklore represents me the most, and evermore feels like a lighter and more extroverted folklore to me, so perhaps that would be the best fit. If we're talking Autumn vs. Winter, I'm a Winter person if we're indoors, an Autumn person if we're outside, and a Winter person personality-wise.
As a true and crazy Taylor Swift fan, not in the bad kind of crazy way, this is the video that I didn’t know I needed until now! Thank you guys so much for all of your constant Taylor Swift content! I love you guys!
This video is interesting, because there are two completely different perspectives you can look at for each album, because each album has two different people in them. There's Taylor - the narrator, and there's who Taylor is describing. It seems like you guys focused more on who Taylor was describing rather than the feeling you get from *the narrator*, but I like taking the other approach. If we're going off of the narrator themselves, then I view folklore as the introspective poets, and evermore as the extrospective poets. Evermore is about problems outside of oneself (willow, champaign problems, gold rush, no body no crime, cowboy like me, marjorie, dorothea), folklore is more about internal and self-esteem problems (my tears richochet, exile, mirrorball, seven, mad woman, epiphany, peace, hoax, the lakes, etc.). Evermore is outward-focused, folklore is inward-focused. This is why I cannot agree that evermore are the leftovers of folklore - both albums serve completely different topics within the mostly same genre. TTPD combines the two. It is no coincidence that the lakes and I Hate It Here are the romantic/transcendentalist songs that are both on folklore and ttpd. If you take the other perspective, the person Taylor describes on these albums, then folklore is about the person she settled with, and evermore is about the person that got away. TTPD is the person that got away that came back after she left the person she settled for, and then he broke her heart.
I feel like 1989 boyfriend is that boyfriend that was so cool, hot and the life of the party but everything's about him and you just always let him shine as you fade and deals with the anxieties and insecurities till he grew tired of you for not meeting him in all his highs cause you feel so left behind.
Folklore and Evermore are boyfriends that are two cabin brothers (dated them one at a time, ofc) and they come from Vermont or whatever other state in New England that has stick season. Folklore is kinda like Hozier and Evermore is kinda like Noah Kahan if you get my drift lol
Hm, interesting. I see folklore's narrator as more poetic and introspective than evermore's narrator, which seems more extrospective, like the stick season type of thing.
Debut - sweet, wholesome, still Facebook friends Fearless - high school relationship, first heartbreak, maybe you keep in touch when the wounds have healed Speak Now - graduation vibes, break up senior year because you're off to different colleges, definite fondness there Red - college era bf, maybe some toxicity or mind games there, trying new things, feel like an adult for the first time 1989 - fresh start, bf who works in finance in the big city, lose yourself a little in the bright lights and expensive drinks, but find yourself again when you want more Reputation - deep, emotionally moody but deeply romantic bf, introspective and dramatic but also lush Lover - maybe the One?, very sweet, brings levity, Golden Retriever energy, adorable Folklore - woodsy, a little stoic, grumpy/sunshine dynamic, hidden depths and campfire light Evermore - small town, more extroverted and upbeat than his Folklore bro Midnights - a little toxic but working on it, a dreamer, loves the good with the bad TTPD - perhaps too easy with the melancholic poetry, if it works, youre together for life
I don't think you marry Fearless, but you always look back fondly on him. I feel like 1989 was never fully committed (a "No labels" kind of guy), Reputation is who you date as a rebellion against your previous relationship and others expectations (aka, when your relationship ends with the guy who everyone loved and now you're dating a really introverted stoner who refuses to spend time with your friends or family). And Tortured Poets is the equivalent of the archetype Sabrina describes in "Dumb and Poetic".
For ttpd, to me it depends on if we're talking about who Taylor is describing in the songs vs. who she is (the narrator) in the songs. I would agree with the "Dumb and Poetic" if we're talking about Matty Healy, the superficial "intellectuals", etc., but I wouldn't agree with describing Taylor's lyrics (or, the narrator of those songs) that way.

And you two dress good and never go out of style 👻
It’s funny how your descriptions of albums actually do line up and match the vibes of who she was dating at the time for most of these.
Self-Titled - the guy your parents want you to marry that bores you

As an evermore guy I need a ttpd boyfriend

Red is your first great love that you lost and it took a million years to get over.

the 1989 boyfriend is someone who wasn’t even officially your boyfriend. everyone likes him and it was really public but it never actually had a label
Begin Again is a top 5 song for me.
as a 'red' person I NEED a lover boyfriend
