    Hi Nils - I enjoy your channel - even though I am a kitesurfer because I really like your stories from my favorite spot in Europe. I think it is very good that you appeal to looking out for each other and do not go into the usual kitesurfer bashing that some people are still cultivating. Of course I cannot judge the real danger here - not being in Tarifa - but people jumping 50 to 70m is not realistic unless you were on the water with professional kitesurfers. So the fear of windsurfers seems to be overexagurated at times. On the other hand I have to agree that a lot of surfers are taking too high risks - unfortunately with kitesurfers taking up more space and therefore increasing the risks to others. I had a lot of great experiences with windsurfers: Once being rescued by on in Tarifa when my kite deflated due to a broken valve. On the other hand I helped to rescue a windsurfer whose mast broke far offshore on another occasion. So let's enjoy the water together and give each other space.
    Enjoy Tarifa :-)

    Nice Video! And about inexperienced Kiters..now they are schooling all over at the beaches and they even put their lines all over our gear without even saying sorry. Really weird sometimes, because on the one side you don’t want to become mad at someone who is simply not that experienced at their sport, but on the other side they are seriously putting others in danger and take SOOOO much space. Let’s hope the beginners switch to winging..😂🤙🏽

      Had the same last summer in La Franqui, kite schools coming out to the speedbeach where there is 20-30kts offshore and start teaching people how to kite there, of course ruining the spot for everyone else 🙄 why not just teach them on the etang where there is enough space and it's safe to learn...

      @73smoo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also had many such experiences. My main time windsurfing in Tarifa was in the second half of the 90s. No kiters there. That was paradise!
      It was a hostile takeover of our spots! We should conquer them back!✊

    Great videos Nils,, I am an experienced kiter and yes I agree. You should always look around and make sure it is safe to jump. It's annoying for other kiters also when they dont.

    Best spot to have a great session with levante in Tarifa. As a windsurfer I completely agree. It has nothing to do with you man! As a kitesurfer the same happens way to often to me. This is somehow the local personality and the reduced space. I'm leaving the spot when there are more than 3-4 people on the water. Or I make a break 🦦 In any case I love this spot when everything fits.

    Passing windward is something normal and fully authorized in sailing rules since ages and never changed ! But unfortunately so few kiters knows sailing rules basics.

      Windsurfer and sailor in the 80s, snowboard and skies in the 90s, and since the 2000s windsurfer and kiter. 😂
      The biggest problem, they think, they are alone and there are no rules for them.
      I prefer to surf with rules and at the end, i have to make move of last moment. And believe me, i and my stuff will have no damage. 😇
      In egypt i saw a group of good kiters (they were every day on the water), try to learn rules 😱
      They don't know the rules, but they kite since years 🤮😠

    Well, I am an old Windsurf-Instructor since 1979 and started Kitesurfing 3 years ago. I understand both sides. The problem are not "the teabaggers" or "the boardsailors", but the young, uneducated "who cares" personalities... Most important for all parties on the water is distance... Keep your distance. I do it, it doesnt matter for me if I loose height, always better that beeing in an accident. I have seen too much... As Kiter and Windsurfer

    • @MrSmithy888
      @MrSmithy888 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This will be a problem for teabaggers as their lines are so long they are going to have to stay way way upwind of any downwind windsurfer. Co-existence between the codes at the same spot is a problem so it would have been much better if the kite community had found their own beaches and kept away from all other beach users

    While lots of kiters are absolutely fine, there are a few who have an arrogance / stupidity problem. Best to keep well away from those types. Look at the serious accident & fatality rates that kiting has - we don’t want any of their foolish antics to take us out too.
