Thanks for the review. Just ordered one. UPDATE: generator arrived, did the start-up and ran fine but fuel leaking from the tank. Will return to Costco. Will not order a second one.

The time lapses on the video do not give us an opportunity to properly hear the effect of the load on the generator. The table saw was causing the audio to clip so we may not have been able to hear it anyway. Good video!

Thanks for the video. I watched the one on your quiet box. I’m curious what type of fan you installed and does the fan blow air into the box or out of the box. It looks like the fan is plugged into the 12v port of the generator. What do you do when you need to charge the trailer battery?
There is a direct link to the fan in the video description you can click on and it will take you to the fan. Also, the air is blowing into the quiet box. Lastly, there is a separate plug on this generator for the trailer.
I see the video with the fan now, thanks. I’m still new to RV’ing and am not sure if my travel trailer battery charges when I plug the TT into the generator. I got a small Yamaha generator and hooked it to the TT and ran the cord to the trailer battery as well. If I don’t have to run a cord separately to the battery then I can see using that port to round a 12v fan.
Great video - thanks for the thoughtful review! You'll have to do a follow up review later this year. I've got one on the way from Costco to use with my travel trailer. I'm hearing the outside/ambient temps shouldn't exceed 104 degrees during use - any idea what your temps are inside the quiet box? Also - about breaking it in, did you change the oil at any point in that 20 hour period? I want to be sure to nail that part of the process for longevity. Thanks!

How many Decibels it run at ?
On your quiet box, cooling air blows in but where does it exit? Seems that would crate a very hot area inside the box?
Exactly what I was thinking. Pushing air into a space without an exhaust point to both move the air and take out the hot air is extremely inefficient.
Does anyone know if it will run a Miller mig welder ?

Just got one today. Got the 4000w 3200 running w dual fuel. On sale for $599
@@Mike-sp4iz put about 20hrs on it this summer boondocking and hasnt evem stumbled once. I use only non ethanol gas in it and when not on use run it empty but very happy so far

It's held up great! We will be using it this month, no issues so far.
where's the box part..Im buiding an enclosure for mine but wanted to see what you did, "Quiet Box" yeah its a closed frame unit with sound sheilding and ducted airflow..sure. OK finally you share the box..Thats my purpose for watching..
Just ordered one from Costco $499.00 FYI !! Firman customer service is not answering calls and only takes messages......Not a good sign.....Glad I bought it from Costco, they answer phones and offer no hassles unlike Firman. Something to think about.
Hows it holding up so far ? Just purchased A-ipower su2000 watt and liked it quiet but kept going into over load mode so returning it. Have a big 8000w Firman and starts all the time considering the Firman 3200W or Honda but $400-500 difference is a bummer.

Wondering if this model has a carb bowl drain nut? Ethanol gas needs to be drained out. Also, will this genny run at higher elevations? Plan on mountain camping/boondocking.
I wish I knew buddy, sorry. It definitely is an excellent genny, but I have used it at high elevation.
Thanks. At about 1:50 in the vid where you checked the oil, the carb is on the right side, but the angle of the camera doesn't show the bottom of the carb very well. Hopefully it should have a little nut on the bottom of the bowl...maybe 2... usually a 3/8 nut. All it would take is a quick looksee. ;-)
September 2021 that same generator at Costco is now $699 on sale delivered. If I could still get for the $549 price you purchase for I buy, but for now will still use my 8 year old Honda. Funny how everything now coming out if China is 15 to 20 percent higher than 18 months ago.

I know you have used a few generators. Do you know if this is louder than the Predator 3500 or Wen 3800? Seems like they should all be close in db. I am just surprised to see this has such a small motor at 171 cc.
This is hands down the most quiet and runs everything (ac, microwave etc.) I love this little genny!

What is the height of the unit and can the wheels and front legs be taken off to shorten the height?
Height is between 24 and 28 inches and yes the wheels can be taken off.

Hi. Does is generator need to add any special oil with your gas? Oil for 2 stroke engines.
Negative, gas fill on top and oil fill on the side.
landberg Tile TV I understand that part. What I meant was, there are some generators that require a special mix of oil with the gas (2 cycle engines). Something used to stabilize the gas.
@@stettan1754 they are a 4 stroke,oil lubrication is what they call "splash",no oil pump,but no gas/oil mix either
I thought that a table saw had a starting surge of 4500w, much like a 1hp compressor. I've been looking for a large genny to power these kinds of items. However it'll be so goddamn heavy. Seeing your video makes me think I don't need to stick with the "numbers" after all. Have you ever tried running an air compressor on this generator?
Yes, this will run an air compressor and a chop saw at the same time! It might still be on sale at Costco's website..

About two years ago, a 5th-wheeler had a gen going about 8 campsites over...and it was so loud...many people were giving them the 'salute' arm and finger sign. Not a good camping situation. I want to boondock/drycamp, but that memory has sort of stuck with me...and so am in flux.
Weird, I bought the same generator from Costco, but mine is 3300/3000w, not 3200/2900w. My model number is W3081.
Yes, I looked in to that. The 3300/3000 model is a little older of a model than the 3200/2900. I believe the company fixed the "choke sticking" issue for this genny.

I'm sure it will, and if it doesn't you can always return it. It runs my 8000 btu air conditioning unit AND a microwave at the same time...
Well it says 2900 continuous watts, so you would be pushing it.
Keep in mind your delicate electronics like laptops and phones don't like modified sine wave inverters. Pure sine wave is better but at this price point I don't think you can beat the value. I have the Predator 3500 for Jobs items and tailgating. Its a modified sine wave as well but gets the job done.
The USB ports on these gennies help with that!

I have one thing to add, o think some people don't know about that black wire inside the engine compartment. There is a black wire near the the battery that ,i think was left disconnected for a reason i don't know why. The battery came partially charged. Just make sure they fully charge it. thought I'd bring that up for those who are unaware. Thanks.

where is that?? i'm in west central florida,, just north of tampa,, i am from north central maine,, wife is from central new york state
woofman you can parallel them with a double male end extension cord thru the 120v outlets, same as the parallel ports but ties up one of your 120v outlets on each generator.
Would you recommend this over the champion? I am torn between those two or spending alot more and getting a Yamaha. The Yamaha is 3 times the price and way heavier though....
Sorry man, I have never owned a Yamaha or Champion. My brother has a champion, and this Firman runs a little more quiet than his.

Costco comes with a lifetime warranty too, can't beat that the Yamaha quality being better totally goes away if you can just walk into a Costco and return it.

Wish I could tell you, never owned a champion.
If you buy it through Costco it come with a costco lifetime warranty, which makes it much better same noise rating and run time is roughly the same. I called their customer service and I got through to a agent in less than 2 min. I also earned a 11 dollar rebate using the costco cisa card and being an executive member.

The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

Yes! It runs like a beast and is super quiet.
Junk junk junk had 2 first one was replace warranty 2 month second one replaced/money back 3month bought Westinghouse 4500 remote no problems same cost.

5 years later same generator is 749.99
The one problem with most inverter generators the inverter boards burnout. Inverter generators save fuel and are quieter but the problem is they're not indestructible like non inverter generators are. Non inverter generators are louder and use more fuel but will last for years and years. Inverter generators are quiet and easy on gas but they're weak and prone for burning out with too much of a load. Better to have an inverter generator and a non inverter generator for backup.
Sound levels do not sound natural and have been tampered in this video. Much louder than this in reality.
Firman needs to sell these. Firman is idiotic not to.

This company does not stand behind their product. Techs on the phone are annoying and one gets their names only when you push to get it out of them. The service centers are far and few between. Many small engine shops won't work on Firman equipment. Phone techs' tell customers that issues are the customer's fault or give the customer reasons why the warranty is void. They jump to assumptions.
