Lol! It sure does go against our nurturing nature sometimes. But I like how they manage to thrive on their own even if we fail to give them lots of attention.
Cheers! Just got back from a trip to Arizona where I got two different types of cactus from my mother's garden. On my trips to the desert, Cactus seem to be something that have absolutely encaptivated me! So much variety! So many great colors and shapes! Can't wait to get my cacti going.. thank you for the information!
Just started taking care of 4 cacti yesterday. Got them as gift from a colleague. One is about to flower and i don't know what to do 😅. Hence, youtube. I find ur tips very helpful. Thank u. :)
Good morning Anne, thank you sense following you on TH-cam I now have 18 cactus 🌵 with succulent also and palms also. Can’t thank you anoth. Learn so much from Anne.
First off, love the new intro 😊 Hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year, Ana. Great care guide, very in-depth and informative as always. Thinking of doing one of these myself at some point this year, and some indoor care. Thank you for sharing with us, Ana. Have a wonderful day from Edith & myself and may 2022 bring you lots of success, and super blooms of course! 🌵☀️🌺🌼🌸🏜☕️
Thanks Daz. I’ve had my intro for a few years now so I thought it would be refreshing to change some things up. You should definitely do a care video, too! It is best for the community that we all share what we know and help each other out. I know I can learn a lot from your indoor set-up as well. Happy New Year and more power to your YT channels as well. ☺️
Thank you my friend, for sharing your interesting video. I have a few cactus, which really needed help. I'm happy to find your channel. Thank you, blessings from Trinidad 🇹🇹💕
I've found your videos extremely helpful. I just started getting into growing cacti from seed. I used to live in Phoenix and Las Vegas and I miss my cacti so much. Trying to make my own small collection in Wisconsin. :)
FABULOUS information - Thank you very much! We've been growing Cacti for years but haven't always had the best of luck. I appreciate your in-depth knowledge. We've got a 5' raised bed which bakes in the Summer sun and it can get hot up here in the Sierra foothills. Might use a rectangular umbrella if needed on those REALLY hot days. Thanks again for the tips!
Very nice new intro, Ana 👌.And I liked this vídeo, so nice to see all the Cacti images, yours and otherwise. Anyway, it is always a pleasure to admire your collection 😃. A very happy 2022 to you and your family 🤩❤️
Oh my gosh! I'm SO HAPPY I found you! I'm having major issues with pests. These little flies build webby nests, and small foamy cotton-like-looking clusters..there are also cream colored oval-shaped flat bugs on the leaves. I have worked so hard at helping them to grow..even transplanting them twice...but they come back. I am using yellow sticky traps ( which work) vinegar in covered jars with holes ( which works) and even throwing garlic on top. What I didn't know is that these bugs come in bagged soil ( ugh! What's a girl to do?) HELP!
This is a great care guide!!! I think you covered all the basics great!!! And thanks for the shout out!!! Love your videos!!! Thanks for sharing Ana!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, out to Las Vegas, have a wonderful warm day!!! (We were at 12°yesterday) Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌💖🌵🏵🌴🌺🪴🌹🌲🌷🌳💐😃👍
Thank you as well Clyde for letting me use your clip. Luckily, we don’t get too much snow. But your cactus buried in snow is a great example of the resilience of some cacti. 12F?! Geez. I freeze at 60F! Lol!
Ana - A very informative video. Have been growing cacti for a while now but always nice to hear and see an update on care. Always learn something new. Keep up the good work. And, a belated Happy New Year to you and your family.
This was amazing helpful because my cacti is starting to hobble over and I was scared I was over watering 😅 but as you said it’s some sort of hibernation so thank you, it was very simple yet explained well so I could get the jist of it. Also all your plants are beautiful! Well done! 👏❤ I’m so glad alot of people love plant care as I do, it’s rather relaxing 😊! It’s just I feel so terrible when I can’t take care of them due to being busy 😓 but I still try my best at being a plant parent ❤.
Great review! Should also add differences in fertilizers. I was using tomato fertilizer to cacti which normally don't flower & started growing very thin & tall. 😯😄
I love the new intro ana!! You did such a great job on this video and it's so great to see how big your collection is becoming, you do such a god job. It makes me look back on myself, and i can't believe how big my collection has grown since i've seen your videos. Thank you for sharing. Maligayang bagong taon po!!!
Haha. I think many of us grew our collection in the past year. More cacti are becoming available and the new variations are so interesting. More power to your collection!
Hello, great video! I did have a question, how do you know when your cactus needs to be watered? I don't want to overwater them... will they show signs?
That was from Star Nursery here in Vegas. But honestly, I don’t like it. It is open on top of the spout. Water keeps spilling on the side. Lol! Looks good on camera, though.
They can handle a lot, I just read about mountain ball cactus so now thats on the way. I just keep them indoors till spring. I'm pretty sure we had the coldest game in NHL history last night. It was like -17. The more worrying thing was it warmed up to 40f for a couple days this year then dropped back down to subzero a day or 2 later. So I'm not sure how they'll do with that much fluctuation.
Fortunately, ants are not a problem here. A few times they visited my garden, they sell an insecticide here in powder form and ants get killed on contact. But watch out cause if there are ants, there are usually mealy bugs as well. They both depend on each other. Kill the mealies, you may get rid of the ants as well.
I live in New York. Is a Western window a good option for cactus? It's just lots of light but never sun. I have a huge picture window to dedicate to them.
What do you do against mealybugs and can you ever get rid of them completely or can you only keep them under control? I've got some on my cactus from an infected speciment that I didn't realise had it untill it was too late and now most of my 30 cactus have had them at some point. I'm like 1.5 years later and still haven't been able to get rid of them completely despite trying everything I can find.
Question is how to grow w cactus in a evergreen areas where is rains frequently summers winters pr autumn everytime it can rain humidity is 70% most of the time except peak winters.

Do you recommend top or bottom watering for cacti?
To me, it doesn’t matter which way. It depends on what is easier for you. I do top watering because I have way too many pots to do bottom watering. 😊

I have a question 🤔 ok when we buy a cactus from a nursery in a small 3in or 4in pot..how old are they?? Like 1yr old?
Depends on the cactus. Some grow fast, others slow. But typically, I would guess around 3-4 years old.
Wow...I was thinking about 2yrs old..they still small and I don't think they flowered yet...ok..I just have to watch them grow and enjoy 😉
In conclusion: Water it and forget about it for sometime in a sunny place
can i put it in the ceramic pot? please help
You can use ceramic pots but you have to be careful. Ceramic pots are not porous so the soil retains moisture longer. You may adjust by making your soil more gritty, not using top dressing or simply watering less frequently.
I just got a cactus should I name it?
I was like,”I want another prickly pear”
Then you’re like just cut off the branch and plant it when it grows a callus and I’m like what?

by spindly do you mean thinner than usual growth? it could be a sign that it needs more sunlight. Gradually increase its sun exposure.
I keep growing them as I should, but they won't flower...not one of them. I keep watching videos just to see what I'm doing wrong but no use....😢
Mine thrive off neglect & thirst..
