From the moment I saw the trailer, I could not wait to see the show. Just came in on the 2nd season, episode 1, but will view season 1 when I can. We moving slow folks, but making head way!! When I saw Ryan Murphy was involved I kinda rolled my eyes and almost passed on watching the show, but thankfully it seems like he doesn't have full reign. The show is well written indeed.
The one thing that I love about Billy Porter is that he makes no apologies for who he is. He encompasses all of what the gay culture is about and then some. While living in a world where society sees gay Black men as being weak and Black gay culture criticize the stereotypes of effeminate gay Black men, Billy handles it, carries it, and articulates it with grace. Not everyone can sit in the hot seat and be fired upon the world and take on the bullets, but yet, come through unscathed.. He's really a positive force to be reckoned with.
Anyone else notice how George quickly redirected him when he started talking about the people "running this country?" Also the ladies of the immaculate conception behind Robin and Michael didn't look too happy.

Billy Porter, if you read this, you said exactly what I started feeling during these tumultuous times. As a gay black man, I literally can feel the animosity and disdain society has for me and people who are like me. Not only do I feel unrepresented on screen, but in my every day life all I see are happy, white "heteros" who complain about the most trivial of things. Yet, not only must I endure their "first world" problems, but also the ingrained and institutionalized racism and homophobia that plague society. It saddens me that shows like "The Bachelor" has nothing to offer me. I don't see who I am represented at all. And, that's disheartening and a tad disappointing. 😔
Boo society has always have a problem with anybody different. Why? Not religion, but fear. Fear over not being in control. But leave your life with authenticity and know someone out there appreciate you, like I. ❤

I feel like the climate now is a dangerous one. Women's rights to make decisions about their own bodies is definitely under fire. There is legislation moving forward to block gay marriage rights to have claim to a spouses insurance. Corrupt police are getting the message it's ok to be racist. Ultra right wing groups are gaining strength and are being labeled "ok people." Hate is spewed and nowhere more openly than in the TH-cam comment section.
