I tell stories often that are ebike unrelated on my channel. People will even complain about me telling non-ebike stories. Anyway, I sometimes think about a story that I might tell and start laughing. Viewers are probably thinking, "what wrong with this guy laughing as he drives down the road?" I frequently think of things that are funny to me and causes me to laugh but I don't share the thought because it doesn't have anything to do with what I was talking about. So I understand, to some extend, how a person can make a statement and laugh. What I don't understand is why someone would complain about someone having fun and laughing.
I would like to thank you for your videos as they have helped me make the leap into becoming an e-bike owner. My wife and I test rode bikes yesterday and found them to be so exilerating. The bikes will be ready, with the accesories we selected, early next week. Thank you again for helping us into the exciting new venture. By the way I am 71.
Thanks! I wonder how long it will take me to feel comfortable stopping, starting and making turns. The bikes, as you have noted in your videos, are quite heavy so getting them started from a stop is not as easy as my old Road Bike. @@RussIsRight
Hi Russ. Your laughter is infectious. The world needs more laughter. Your vlogs are always fun, informative and light hearted. A great way to start my riding day. Keep on riding.
Another beautiful day there. I always use zero gatorade on my rides here in Florida. Really helps with the cramping. And no pickle juice either. I will take the cramps before drinking that.
You have a nice laugh Russ, I don't know why some people have to be so negative, great channel and I've been with you from the beginning, you helped me with my decision in buying a fat bike, take care my friend.
Hi Russ Hi from the UK, keep up the great videos and a thank you for helping me with my Ebiking life. I was in a low place after a serious motorcycle accident (T boned on my Harley) “sorry I didn’t see you” , that had permanently changed my health. Your videos were an inspiration to change and helped me mentally/emotionally with my knee and hip/lower back issues from the accident. I’m 62 and bought a used Ebike initially to check if I could still actually ride and to revive my passion from a teenager of all things with two wheels, with your help I have made some good progress in recent months and I’m waiting on my new Engwe 20” folding Ebike to be delivered, with a suspension or dropper seat post and the low rear rack it will be ideal and I can’t wait “to get out and just ride” when it arrives.
I believe it was me on the accident story. I'm glad you shared it because maybe it can grab attention towards others preparing. 👍 I'm going to invest in elbow pads as my left elbow is still healing. I did have a helmet beforehand, I was stating how it really did save my noggin! But the gloves. I probably would not have gotten them until you suggested it. 👍 Still sore between my thumb & hand pad, but it's ok. I jumped back on the bike 2 days later! But ride with more caution as I try to gain confidence. Where I ride, it's mostly dirt & gravel roads as I'm currently in the countryside and at a campground environment. BTW, I am female & I don't seem to see many females, other than my RV world, getting into ebikes. Of course, I had mountain bikes in the past & had very few friends that rode bikes anyhow. 🤷♀️ I'm going to check into getting a seat suspension - the ride on these rough roads & on the fat tires takes a toll on my back. Amazon loves me - I'm loading up on bike gear! 😂 Just keep being you! It's weird when people don't laugh!! 😮
Hi Russ, I have not watched a video for a while, I am glad you brought up the helmet point, I wear a bike helmet always. But a work friend of mind spotted me on my bike travelling to work, and he rides a motorcycle. He was watching the speed I was doing, unbeknown to my self, which is usually around 33km to 35km. He got talking to me that day and suggested to me that i should get a motorbike helmet for my own safety. So I order one today.after all you only have one noggin and I want to keep it safe on my shoulders. Always enjoy your videos
Love your vids. Regarding laughing - I enjoy your laughing. I'm very different when I ride. I smile at people. I laugh & am so happy & grateful to fly on my eBike or my regular bikes. I relate buddy
Hi Russ Thanks for the rides today. Without the suspension seat post regardless of what kind of seat ti rode, my behind would be sore and make it difficult the next day to ride. Even as a younger version of myself riding everyday 15 - 30 miles, my behind never seemed to comply. Now I use a suspension seat post (Kinekt) and I NEVER have a sore behind including riding off road. I can ride hours and back to back days and never have an comfortable behind. Suspension seat posts are a game changer. Happy Riding🚴🏻♂
It took some time to gain confidence in my balance when stopping/starting but slowly raising my saddle to get better extension of my legs while cycling eliminated the pain I was having in my knees, hips and back. There is definitely something to having the correct height of your saddle. Nearing the end of my second riding season, I'm thinking it might be good to change out the brake pads and hydraulic fluid. I have no idea how long brakes last, but they say an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Keep riding...😊
Hey Russ. I used to ride Harleys, but since my knees got bad i can no longer trust holding up so much weight, so i decided to get into E Bikes since i still love to ride. Point being, i use to not only wear gloves for vibration or protection, but the oil in your skin soaks into rubber hand grips and tends to make them softer and a little sticky. Maybe mention it among the benefits of wearing gloves.
That's what I do often, I just go. Sometimes I run into lots of traffic, other times smooth sailing. That depends on the day you're riding and the time. But it's good for the most part. I just love being out there riding.
Hey, Russ. I was able to get out today. I too ride the same areas. I alter my route some but yes, just getting out is the fun part. I ride our neighborhood which has very light traffic and sometimes our country back roads. Gorgeous weather here today in PA. 80 degrees and a breeze. I always wear a helmet and fingerless gloves. I feel funny if I do not have the gloves on. Smart to be protected. PS Love the laughter and great sense of humor.
Hey! Russ. Trying to catch-up on your videos since I've been away travelling and not able to remain up-to-date. Wow! 2 vids in the same day. So good stuff as usual and totally enjoy listening and learning and often smiling (with your chuckles). I have the MC Jaguarundi (not the latest version you recently tested) and have added some accessories to improve being visible and safety. In this video there are mentions of wearing (a MUST) a proper helmet and getting some 'add-ons' such the Suspension Seat Post (just received mine today) SR Suntour ncx 12. You mentioned having today gone out on the road 'without' your tool kit. Well that would be a very interesting topic to discuss: what is an essential kit of tools and maybe some spares to ALWAYS carry on an ebike. Just a suggestion...but I would be most curious to hear what you carry and why. Happy riding and be cheerful (haha)!
I have shown what is in my bag recently, but maybe I will do a more dedicated video. I mention some items in this video: th-cam.com/video/i5ODzLA2nVQ/w-d-xo.html
Yes, I watched that vid of you going out to get 2 Corn Dawgs (not the right spelling, I know, but 'sounds' like. ) at Sonic drive-in. You probably mentioned what you were carrying in the Front Basket bag..but wasn't into any detail otherwise I would have noted the information. The MC Tools that come from the factory and included with the ebike are presumably 'essentials'...but maybe not complete. Riding situations vary and I understand that might dictate what or not to carry as 'tools'. Anyway...whatever you might like to share...I'm interested to hear.
Dec2024: While I don't always wear a helmet on summer days (too hot), I always wear gloves. In a crash hands get severe road rash (as you pionted out). The cuttoff gloves you are wearing are a good example. I wince whenever I see a bike rider w/o gloves. Retired in Sacto.
I use FB some, but I don't accept friend requests and rarely reply to messages. My private life is private as much as possible. I have had a few people email me with questions or help. I respond but as the channel grows and I get busier, I'll have to stop that too. It just takes up a lot of time and I just can't give everyone personal attention.
Hi Russ, It's been a while since I sent you any questions, just wanted to let you know that I've used your pointers from the videos and your replies riding my new Deer 20". I just love to ride this bike and see all of the things I've been missing in the vehicle. How often do I need to check my spokes on my bike and do you have a video on how to properly tighten the spokes. Thanks again for doing what you do! P.S. I like to eat too! (:
Some people get the spokes done twice a year, others once a year. Having said that, I'm not sure what is really recommended. I have had pros do the tightening as they have torque wrenches specifically for this job. Others just use the inexpensive spoke wrenches and hope for the best. But if you want a truing of the wheel and done right, I'd let a pro do it.
Russ is maybe mistaken at times, but never wrong we all know that😂We love❤your humor Russ. You have to be pretty bad to get banned on this channel. Keep doing what you do 👍🏻🚴
My XP trike will be here Tuesday. Can’t wait to take it for a ride. Got to figure the roads out. would you recommend a flag and back or cars to see? I’m going to ride with a orange vest and yes, a helmet and gloves open fingers it will have two baskets on it front and back
Love your videos. Very informative. I have a Wicket Thumb Destroyer ebike but I’m 76 and 5’7” and arthritis in my right hip. I see a 24”wheel and step thru in my future. Any recommendations
Russell I enjoy your videos I'm old alone back pain but watching your videos is almost like I'm out riding I think I still can ride it's to late in the year but next Feb when get tax refund I'm ordering a ebike and use your name don't know what one yet but fat tire step thru and big battery I like all your stuff on you tube I'll keep watching
do you have the same types of tires on each bike? I have a dirt/street tire and i don't care for them much. I'm looking at street tires and was wondering which you have.
I have whatever tires normally come with the bikes. Some are as you describe and others are specifically street tires the Euphree for instance is more street as it is a commuter bike. Same with the Magicycle Commuter bike… street only.
The Deer 20 takes the hill test better, although the Ocelot Pro is no slouch! Also the Deer 20" with the full suspension handles the bumps better since the entire bike is moving with the spring suspension in the back rather than just the seat post.
Hi Russ. I also have a bad knee and considering a knee replacement. If I recall, I thought you had a knee replacement. Are you still having issues? Just wondering. Also, have you researched and reviewed the Lectric XP e-bikes such as the XP 3.0? If so, what are your thoughts?
I had a left total knee replacement. Lots of pain doing it and took nearly 2 years to get over it! I'm ok now, but still don't have the strength as before all of this mess happening to it. I have not tested the Lectrix bikes but many people love them... especially for the price!
@@RussIsRight Thanks for your response. Same with me. It's my left knee and I need a total knee replacement. I'm not looking forward to it. How long did it take after the surgery were you able to ride again?
Two years. Yes, my knee took forever! Be sure to watch my playlist of knee replacement videos! Go to the Russ Is Right channel page and then click on Playlists and you'll find a lot of knee videos. You can follow along to see how I did in those two years.
Russ never addressed the 2nd part of your question, I wonder if he has an issue with lectric? I hope not, since that’s what I have. Oh, definitely an ebike “newbie” here, but so far I LOVE my bike.
As you know, I cannot watch the videos until evening. But I did happen to see the title of this video. I went by the bike barn to take my suspension seat post off of any bike that had one on it. You will be happy to know. I threw them all away. I would hate to get banned for that.
I don't like Gatorade or similar drinks. I just drink water. I've heard pickle juice works. I need to try that on my next long ride. I don't suffer from leg cramps very often while riding, but I do get them later in the day after a long strenuous ride(non-ebike or low PAS/high effort e-bike ride).
I have to say, those brakes on your bike are so quiet. I just got the lectric 3.0xp with hydraulic brakes and I followed directions and “hit” them pretty hard 20 or 30 times and they still make a noise. Is there anything else I can do?
When people on the comments are being unreasonable, i enjoy egging them on with a troll response, and then click “Hide User From Channel”. I assume they come back and write a big nasty response… but who knows, and who cares! 😂 they’re only wasting their own time and energy in hidden land!
I like it. I think I've only banned 1 person and that was because the comment went political and that just causes trouble. "Go somewhere else and talk politics" was the message I sent and then banned him/her.
Yes,yes helmet and bike gloves if you go down your hands knees and head are going to take the hit. Russ is right Bilbo Baggins says" it a dangerous business going out your door you never know where you'll be swept of too " 😂 which is all part of the fun of riding . Thanks Russ
I have a Electric xp 3.0 I need to get handle bars closer and higher. What kind of handle bars do I need to look at for up grade. my hands are hurting from leaning to forward. Just wanted to let you know I laugh more than you do. I going to get gloves now. already have helmet ⛑️.
Not sure what handlebars are out there that would upgrade your bike. Maybe someone else can chime in to help. Maybe a handlebar stem is needed instead?
I watched someone on TH-cam who took the handlebar off, took everything off of it, turned it around, reattached everything for his wife who was tiny. The handlebars got closer by about 5-6 inches. So if you are ok with what goes into it, you may want to try that.
message u 3/4 days ago havent heard from u that i could see. want a ebike butt cant afford very much right now. maybe later. i have bad knees and lungs. thought ebiking would help i am 72 still work in the yard. also single. please talk to me. what bike decent bike but not expensive. amazon and walmart what i was thinking. not sure please respond thanks brford
Not sure of the ebikes in the lower price range. The least expensive good bikes might include the Lectric XP Lite for $799. I would not go with anything less than that. lectricebikes.com/products/xp-lite-arctic-white. You might also consider the KBO Flip. kbobike.com/products/electric-folding-bike
Nice looking bike, I can see the camera's view, bouncing with the suspension post! It surely is working! Had one on an old Mt. bike, loved it, but wont fit my himi !
Psht any suspension of any kind is for wimps. Sorry Please excuse me while I go get another Hemorrhoidectomy 😂. My good friend is twice my age and we met through ebikes and he laughs all the time its why i love him. After getting my EUC I gifted my ebike to my old friend and he was former around the block neighbor who lives only a few miles away presently but his ebike was stolen from his job. They cut both locks with a cordless grinder. He works at a hospital so he's not allowed to even bring the battery inside per policy. We gave the security footage to police hopefully something comes of it but unlikely. Only reason I mention this is because he complained of only one thing that my ebike is an old prodeco tech 800watt hard tail bike. Anyways I took the suspension bike seat from a old scrapped nanrobot D5+ escooter. He said it makes such a huge difference for him and that he will eventually buy a ebike new when he can but I'm still mad about the hospital policy making him lock the bike up outside but not allowed to even remove the ebike battery and bring that in. For the time being he is putting the battery inside a co workers car parked in the garage to make the bike itself less appealing to steal.
@@RussIsRightit's the reason I went to a EUC I thought it was something different and cool to learn but I can take it with me most places inside and they don't question me much as long as I'm not riding it inside a building. NY sucks sometimes because even though me and my buddy live 40 miles east of NYC our buses aren't very good and don't run early enough to get my buddy to work on time and being he's 58 years old he doesn't want to ride a normal bike a 24 mile round trip 6 days a week. My ebike I gave him has the removable front wheel and battery and I gave him a kryptonite disc break lock for the back wheel so this time the grinder would take much much longer and the lack of front wheel again while hopefully make it not worth the risk. Just have to be vigilant and pro active. What I might do for him is what I did for my EUC is I put the apple air tag inside of it and because I don't have an iPhone at all I linked it to my mother's iPhone account just in case it's stolen I can get a hold of her easily. If I can ever get my friend to watch TH-cam more you will def have a new viewer, I guess luckily for me he's the type who says let's go out and ride more then let's sit around and chill haha. My regular motivation is the 58 year old telling the 30 year old to stop being lazy and get out and ride ! Love ya vids bro keep doing you how you have bin and never mind the naysayers
@@kramzenitram yea I never used the seat on my escooter when I rode it but I always held on to the seat for some reason 🤣. It has the springs under the seat but also the hydraulic suspension on the actual seat post not sure if they are all like that. It makes the seat sit a little higher up but luckily it's just low enough for my shorter height friend to use combined with the step through frame. The bike I gave him has pretty good adjustable front shocks that are rockshox. An old failed company from 2018 made the bike. Prodecotech ebike from Best buy I got for 700 bucks clearance. Very unusual bike but it's still running with 7000 miles + on it and the battery a Samsung cell 14.25AH 36v still holds a charge well and my buddy only uses pedal assist and is getting 60 to 70 miles per charge which is awesome for a 5 year old bike
Hi Russ, I'm a Big Advocate on Helmets, coz Helmets saves lives. I see many riders not wearing helmets, instead they have ear buds, now I thought it was illegal to wear those and ride/drive. You like baskets on ur e-bikes, that's like my niece, she has two baskets on her Rad Power 3 Plus, I prefer scooter trunks to help not lose anything when riding. I don't tolerate name calling/bullying either. When you had Q/A one question that wasn't ask/answered was charging during a thunderstorm. When I got home on Monday, I let my e-bike rest for an hour, then I plugged it in, in my apartment of course, outside the weather was smokey and hazy, but no rain or anything. After a little while we got a severe thunderstorm, it started after I was charging. I unplugged it at 1st, then the thunder stopped, I re-plugged it and the storm restarted minutes after, so I took a chance and let it charge fully. Do you know anything about charging during a storm? You are only allowed to drink one Power-aide per day according to google, but I drink more than that per day, if you drink too much, when you go to the bathroom it will be the colour of the drink, I mean, going number two will be the colour. So I ordered a pair of Polarized 1080P Sunglass Camera for my rides, I just hope it won't screw up my e-bike display. Thank You, Good Video Bud 😎
Thanks Russ for making this a safe space for all body types. Ebiking has opened a whole new world for me!
Me too! Ride on!

Pedego has 24” wheel Ebikes. Look for step thru bikes since you have a bad hip.
The electric bike company also offers 24" wheels.
@@gregcuff3047 Yes they do! :)
🙂
do you have the same types of tires on each bike? I have a dirt/street tire and i don't care for them much. I'm looking at street tires and was wondering which you have.
I have whatever tires normally come with the bikes. Some are as you describe and others are specifically street tires the Euphree for instance is more street as it is a commuter bike. Same with the Magicycle Commuter bike… street only.
Did you change out a sprocket on your ocelot pro. If so, what did you install? I’m not a fan of the ghost pedaling on mine. Thx.
I did not. But I did change out the chainring on the Magicycle Cruiser to 52T. Got it on eBay!
I've got same sense of humor, wife doesn't like me being happy all the time!! Banding the bad guys, is good! Should call it "OFF WITH THEIR HEAD"!!!!
🤣🤣
Try Bing, healthy ingredients low sugar,120 mg caffeine sip on one like a regular coffee ☕
How does the Ocelot Pro with the suspension seat post compare to the 20" Deer?
Thanks @@RussIsRight I found them and will watch them.🙂
Russ never addressed the 2nd part of your question, I wonder if he has an issue with lectric? I hope not, since that’s what I have. Oh, definitely an ebike “newbie” here, but so far I LOVE my bike.
As you know, I cannot watch the videos until evening. But I did happen to see the title of this video. I went by the bike barn to take my suspension seat post off of any bike that had one on it. You will be happy to know. I threw them all away. I would hate to get banned for that.
🤣🤣
On ebikes, traveling faster than a pedal only bike, should we buy helmets rated for higher speed impact?
I would. I ride with the Xnito helmet which is rated to 28 mph (Class 3). Discount code in the description of the video saves you $15.
I ride horses also, and I feel safer using my riding helmet than the cycling helmet. I feel it has more protection, but maybe that’s all in my head.
Can the Suntour post be rotated to put the seat further forward for shorter riders?
I don’t think it would function correctly that way.
Did you put the red spring in that suspension post that makes a big difference also.
I did not. I was not supplied with one.
👍
I have to say, those brakes on your bike are so quiet. I just got the lectric 3.0xp with hydraulic brakes and I followed directions and “hit” them pretty hard 20 or 30 times and they still make a noise. Is there anything else I can do?
Bedding in the brakes as you have done is about as good as you can do.
My Mom used to laugh a lot, just like you. Can we still make fun in a good natured way?
Sure. But downright mean comments to others are not wanted. Just put a smiley face emoji or something so people know you are kidding.
👍🤣now, yes this was a funny video! Yes, be strict about your own channel for your good and everyone else’s ❤
When people on the comments are being unreasonable, i enjoy egging them on with a troll response, and then click “Hide User From Channel”. I assume they come back and write a big nasty response… but who knows, and who cares! 😂 they’re only wasting their own time and energy in hidden land!
🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Russ
👍
@@mrs.c5471 Closer would be nice but in this case it needs to also be higher.
@@mrs.c5471thanks I will try that
I had one bike this summer it was a duel suspension lol my suntour suspension seat post was way better then the bikes suspension
I can see that. Not all rear suspension bikes are perfect.
message u 3/4 days ago havent heard from u that i could see. want a ebike butt cant afford very much right now. maybe later. i have bad knees and lungs. thought ebiking would help i am 72 still work in the yard. also single. please talk to me. what bike decent bike but not expensive. amazon and walmart what i was thinking. not sure please respond thanks brford
👍
Russ is mean. 🤣😂🤣😂
Yes and Russ Is Right!
Russ is wrong?
Russ is never wrong. I told you guys that! 😉
Someone forgot the 2 rules:
1. Russ is always right;
2. If Russ is wrong, see rule 1.
@@RussIsRight Don't ban me i was just kidding.
Hahaha!
Russ is never wrong. Sometimes mistaken, but never wrong. 😏
Ebikes are always a target.
@raspberrypimilitant2242 👍
I added the Brooks Flyer saddle with springs to my Trek 9.9S for commuting around Chicago & it''s very comfortable.
👍
Not sure about charging during a storm. Probably best to wait.
Next time, I will wait till it's completely over.
