It breaks my heart that this GGP mall is shuttered and neglected. It honestly deserves better, for such a preserved place. I'm glad you got to see it and put your take on it before it closed though, always glad to see more documentation!
Great video! Ive heard a lot about Marshalltown but your video was the first ive ever watched about it. Didn't know its approaching 6 months closed. Damn kohan.
Hi, Thank you for filming! I read about Kohan with the Marshalltown Mall electricity. Kohan owns Lindale Mall in Iowa as well. I think they own River Hills Mall in Mankato, MN too. Looking forward to any future content you may have.
I remember Meadow Lane in the late 1980s. It had a large RC car track in the space that says Liver Shot Boxing Club. Where you see the HyVee drug store there was a general store / dollar store type of place. And next to it, there was a sports trading card shop. it was connected to a Kmart where you see storage containers now. The exit toward the end of the clip led out to a grocery store. Near that exit in the right corner there was a pay phone.
Great Video of the Marshalltown Mall! This mall brings back a lot of memories. I remember getting in trouble as a young boy when I would take pennies from the round water fountains inside. Then, if I was good, my Grandma would take me over to Kay Bee Toys and let me pick out something new. This mall was so full of life. There wasn’t a vacancy to be had back then and now it’s just left to rot. I suppose it’s just a sign of the times.
The movie theater was at the front main entrance with an arcade and restaurant also near the front. There was enough going on that young people could spend a few hours hanging out.
Great video! Even though I’m somewhat new to the channel, let me know when you’re coming to the Southbridge mall, I work in Mason City & I’d be down to meet you (you’d be the first TH-camr I’d ever met if we did) :)
That last open store felt sadly defiant. This one felt more melancholy to me than usual. I think it was the mention of the Burnsville Center- my mall since 1980 until the MOA… which is 5 minutes away.
What was interesting was the electric bill was in arrears for six months,if I don't pay I'm shut off in a months, Marshall county native reporting this
Yea.. if you don’t make sure to have that one setting on the Osmo pocket set properly, you can get some lousy footage of nothing… I have done the same! 😂

I absolutely love these two malls, so glad you got to see both of them! Especially with marshalltown being closed now..
Yeah, it was such a nice visit. I feel like I gotta get to all the Kohan malls soon in the surrounding states just in case!

Thank you very much! I hope those malls survive.

Thank you for sharing your memories
Great video, loved the storefronts, especially the asymmetrical one!

nice little linear mall - sad to see it so empty though its in prteey good condition
Charlie Brown level jams hit the spot! 🎉🎉🎉
This isn't a mall I've been to but stuff such as gumball machines really do ring a bell in my mind.
Great video!

The tale of 2 malls. It’s a shame Marshalltown Mall is closed. Kohan and Namdar are the kiss of death for malls.
Kohan bought the mall near us in 2023 😢
Any idea what was in the unit at 13:00? You don't see stuff like that anymore..and not really even that often back in the day either
I wish I could tell. I could find any old maps from before the cinema expansion.

Marshalltown has a mall 😅
Sadly doesn't sound like Mtown mall going to recover and is dead still no power but what crazy people that own it are not even in Iowa
Fartialtown Mall
