    As an art director that buys images I look for photos from the same shoot all the time. If I like the lighting and the models but want another angle or option it's really helpful to see the whole portfolio from the same shoot.

    I've been shooting stock for istock since before getty and I just started video a couple months ago! It's like learning a whole new thing.... And I love it so far! Thanks dude... you're right about everything you said - I wish someone said this to me when I started! (And you're 100% right about the forums... all complainers. :) ) Thanks!

      You are welcome! Yeah, that is why I don't like being in these forums. People are just complaining instead of shooting :)

    Hi, thanks for the interesting video. However, one thing I do not agree with: gear does not matter. Alamy does not accept any pictures from smartphones, and as Adobe and Shutterstock is concerned: more than 80% of the pictures I upload from my camera are accepted, less than 40% of the pictures I upload from my smartphone. Especially Shutterstock rejects smartphone pictures which look perfectly good because the are 'not in focus'. Altogether: my experience is that gear matters a lot.

    • @LukaAzman
      @LukaAzman  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, yeah, it is much easier to do it with a camera. I am not sure about all other agencies, because I only upload to iStock, but there are a lot of them which accepts smartphone images. Also shutterstock says they are accepting smartphone images. But I know they are rejecting a lot. And like I said, I would not shoot everything with a smartphone, but if you don't have anything else, it is better to start with a phone than not starting at all.

  • @axelfoo1
    @axelfoo1 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I disagree with tip #2. Both Shutter and Adobe keep rejecting my photos because of noise.

    • @LukaAzman
      @LukaAzman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeh, I heard that! I thought all the agencies are more relaxed about that these days :)

    • @sakibhasan7723
      @sakibhasan7723 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am also facing this problem. They always reject image with small noise.

    Thanks for some great information. I also want to tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed your country a few years ago. I did not get to Ljubljana but Bled was beautiful. I also spent several days in Maribor and had a great time there. One day, I hope to visit Slovenia again.

      Oh, that is nice to hear! Yes, it is a beautiful country! Bled and Bohinj lakes are amazing, also mountains, and Ljubljana is also very nice, so if you come back, you should definitely visit Ljubljana :)

    Just a random question:
    Do ai generated image threatens your stock photography sales or it's just the same as usual?

    • @LukaAzman
      @LukaAzman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, the sales went down a bit, but I am not sure if that is because of AI, or just because the end and start of the year are usually bad months. We will see when we get stats for March, which is usually pretty strong month for me. But I am sure there will be people who will use AI instead of stock photos, so we will see what happens in the future.

    I notice that Istock and Alamy limit search results to 500 pages. Shutterstock will return thousands of pages. If you go to page two of the search results st Shutterstock you can change to any page number you want in the URL. Its kind of disheartening to realize that your images may never be seen. especially if you are just starting out.

    • @LukaAzman
      @LukaAzman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh really? I know on iStock, when you are signed in, it shows 100 pages. But, someone who is searching for images, won't go through 100 or 500 pages. If they don't find what they are looking for in the first few pages, they will use other keywords to search, or add more keywords, not scroll 100 pages.

    Great video. I want to start stock photography and I’m curious how do you organize and categorize your photos after the shoot? Do you keep them forever?

    • @LukaAzman
      @LukaAzman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, in short - I have a folder for each year, and then I create a new foler for each shoot "Date - name of the shoot". And first I copy the photos to my external SSD and I also make a copy to my NAS drive. And I edit from my SSD, and when I am done I delete the photos from SSD. But yeah, I keep everything on my NAS. I should probably delete more stuff there :)

    I have just started with istock, but I shoot mostly landscape content with no people. My first submissions were photos of roads with a 1st person vantage point, which is somewhat rare, but companies' and magazines always have road images. Wondering if they would sell well as well as other landscape images with no people in them. I always see a lot of landscape stock photos used for companies that don't have people also. I am 6 for 6 with no rejections so far.

    • @LukaAzman
      @LukaAzman  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, if you have images on your hard drive and if you like shooting that, of course, upload those, but I think you won't make a lot of money with that. If you check the competition, and how many amazing photos of nature and roads are there, you can see that there are millions of photos out there. Also, you need a loooooot of images to make some money. But if you will upload consistently, you can make some money from that. Images of cityscapes work great for me. From Sydney, Gold coast, Dubai, London,...

    • @LukaAzman

      Enough 😀 I am not really comfortable talking about actual numbers, but I can say this is my family's only income, and I can also pay a person organizing the shoots, 2 people (part time) for retouching and 3 people (part time) for keywording 🙂
