Slotbow - why did I not think of this before?

- Slingbows are very popular. We have therefore presented several versions before here at The Slingshot Channel, all really functional.
The best designs came with a whisker biscuit as an arrow rest, which works fine - but there are two problems.
1. Whisker biscuits are expensive
2. The bands "follow" the arrow through the biscuit, damaging the bristles
Therefore, we thought about something more simple... and found a great solution!

CSH3 did he not allready try this? There was a slingshot within a slingshot that fired while still gaining speed from the first slingshot to doubble its speeds. or maybe it was a mythbusters episode.

Honestly, it was so epis, I felt rather sad he didn't expand on the idea., didn't turn the mechanism into practice.

A Lebkuchen Schmdit tin! I have a closet full of those. Started collecting them when I was stationed in Friedberg back in the 90s. I order their big holiday tin every year. Expensive, but worth it.

Nothing wrong with paying $300 for a knife, as long as it is good quality. I've never understood why some people frown on paying good money for quality items. I only buy quality tools, especially power tools. Use a el cheapo sander for 2 hours and then use my Hitachi sander and you'll feel the difference. You couldn't use the El cheapo sander for 2 hours as it's vibrations hurts the hands
I can't see the word Hitachi without giggling. I think I'm a 12 year old on the inside.
Antipodean33 You get diminishing returns in knife quality after about $100. A $20 folder will handle more than most people will use a knife for, plus you can use it as a hammer or a screwdriver and not care if it gets lost. Unless you use a knife for a specific purpose every day (e.g. as a cook or a fisherman), I can't see how you can justify $300 for a knife. A $300 folding knife that you can't even carry in public? That's just indulgence.
***** Depending on where you live, you could carry the knife Joerg showed. Most of Europe is a no-no, but there st be a few exceptions here and there. In the US, most likely places in the Eastern Seaboard won't let you carry such a thing.
***** I'd disagree to an extent. Move that number to 300 and I'd be with you. Carbon fiber knives with premium steel will easily run 2-3 hundred dollars, it's hard to top that in terms of use or quality.
I own many knives. My favorites are my beaters; 20 dollar kershaw knives that can get lost, that I don't mind abusing, vs. Something like my 581 benchmade knife. It's gorgeous, very premium materials, and a pleasure to hold... But Damn if the prospect of carrying it to work and losing it didn't terrify me.
As for camping/hiking/protection, there's where my cold steel stuff comes in :D
dispatcher7007 True, my Hitachi sander for instance isn't as expensive as a Fes, but that said i've used both and see no difference in quality, as far as smoothness of operation goes. I've built a few boats and kayaks using the epoxy/glass method, which involves many hours of sanding and this is where i recognized the difference in quality and cost over cheap and nasty

That is a truly great concept. I've seen arrows shot from slingshots in the past, but this is the first time I've seen a purpose-made slingshot just for arrows.
By the way, I had a good laugh over something you mentioned..... The "Whisker Biscuit"...... Here in the U.S., that is also an old slang word for Vagina.

Fantastic idea. Nock the arrow same way every time and it should work correctly every time. Though I would liked to have seen the speed of the arrow because I looks like less friction from the slingshot. Keep the good ideas come. I enjoy them very much.

Fun how easy slingbows are. Regular bows bring all kinds of complications you have to keep in mind for accuracy and consistency, while this really is just draw same length and aim

Großartige Umsetzung, genau so ein Teil wollte ich mir mal bauen. Sieht ziemlich machbar aus. Machbar und effektiv.
he has the best laugh...
Instead of using a Whisker Biscuit style arrow rest try using a "Drop Away" arrow rest. When you draw the string back it raises 2 prongs that elevate the resting arrow into a "Firing" position and lines it up for the shot. When you release the string the 2 prongs drop away almost instantly leaving the arrow "floating" in mid air with no resistance dragging on it as it leaves your Bow or Slingshot. This will make your shots much more powerful and faster.

I just shaped a rambone laminate 2x6 duglas fur i had sitting around and 3/8 aluminium, apoxyed and pined with 4'' stainless nail, going to stain and seal it after final sanding.
Was going to make a wisker biskit ram bone next...
