  • The strongest muscles in a human body are all involved in the rowing motion: Back, leg, butt and biceps. Therefore, if you want to make the most powerful and effective muscle operated weapon possible, a rowing motion is the way to go.
    See this weaponized rowing trainer shooting 30mm steel balls quickly, straight through a thick wooden board!
    A "The Slingshot Channel" production.

    Could you imagine the kind of mayhem a Roman Empire era Soldier (or rather more likely a squad of soldiers) could have caused with a device like this (had it existed) as support artillery (if modified to use bolts) or as a sort of defensive fortification on a wall ?

    • @qwerty222999
      @qwerty222999 9 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      That was what the ballista was pretty much used for.

    • @mrkiky
      @mrkiky 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I guess they could have made it steel limb powered instead of rubber. It would be a chu-ko-nu/ballista combination. It could even be 2 man operated , one aiming while the other one powering it, and it could spew bolts faster than 2 people with 2 crossbows or even bows. And it would be much more powerful too.

    • @maikock8325
      @maikock8325 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      qwerty222999 But it has to be noticed, that ballistas were never be capable of destroying big stone walls....thats a myth. The only thing that they were used to, was to give covering fire....but things changed, when canons and mortars were invented ;)

  • @dom_h
    @dom_h 9 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    For your next invention you should use a bike, turn the back wheel into a flywheel and then fire a slingshot using that. You should be able to get a pretty high rate of fire from the flywheel if you make it heavy enough. The original idea for this was to connect the flywheel of the rowing trainer to the bands, but you said this one uses rubber to provide resistance.

    • @dom_h
      @dom_h 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The point of a flywheel is to be able to exert a continuous force to speed up the wheel and then keep it spinning at the same rate, you can also charge up the flywheel, and then release it. I imagine the machine that joerg made does not feel remotely like a rowing machine. The force he has to fight gets stronger as he pulls further (when he has the least push from his legs) and he can't gradually pull faster and faster as you would do with rowing.

    • @mossfoster5317

    Wirklich einer deiner besten Waffen, gefällt mir echt am meisten!
    Mit welchen Holz ist denn das? Nicht das multiplex auch nicht die Spanplatte, ein Brett ist das denk ich.
    War nämlich meinem Ziel so nahe: Wollte auch mal nen crossbow bauen, habe mich an deinem Kartenschiesser orientiert. Hatte noch ein Brett, Fichte, 18mm, übrig. Zuerst den Teil für Abzug und Griff aufgezeichnet und ausgesägt ( Ok, hatte 4 Teile, die letzten 2 waren nicht kaputt, dachte aber dass das eher an der doch etwas groberen Stichsäge lag). Soo dann noch 2 Latten für den ,,Lauf'' und oben einen Teil für den Gummi. Doch als ich dann oben festschrauben wollte, musste ja ausgerechnet unten Griff- und Abzugsteil brechen.

A lot of variety and different layouts and all as entertaining to watch you with them as they are awe inspiring. Hi Joerg! Quick feedback: I really liked being able to see the mechanical parts in action as you operated this one. The sections between 2:20 and 2:35 were great shots! Always impressed by your ingenuity.

    Rowboat of death is super wicked Joerg!!. I'm impressed with how accurate it is with the 30 mm. steel ball bearings. Acme is taking notes and so is Wile E.Coyote...ha ha...I'll take two myself.

    Your ingenuity continues to impress me! It would be pretty to extend the magazine as well. You could make the tube longer, or attach a hopper to the top and fill it with shot! Thanks for another video.
