I've been doing Uber Eats in South Australia since it began here. This is not typical AT ALL. I used to drive in and around the city only to see my rating plummet because of terrible parking making it difficult to be on time. I now tend to stick around the Northern suburbs and can barely get $150 in 8 hours, this goes for the multitude of other drivers in the area as well. There's things on this video that just don't add up. Be real curious to see old mates rating here as well. Lets be real he took an added stacked order that added 10 mins to his time for $3, ain't no way in hell he's making close $30 an hour. All up that trip with both deliveries was 26 minutes for $10.71...
Lol. I post a screenshot of my earnings and you still can't see it. Sorry if you can't make money on the app but just because you can't doesnt mean someone else can't. Hope you got some benefit and thanks for watching!
Thanks for this video! I drive for Jimmy Brings and Sherpa and have found it increasingly difficult to make a regular income. After COVID, I could easily work 6hours and earn $200-$300. Now I struggle to do that in a few days. The job rates are higher than Uber Eats but the jobs just don’t seem to be there anymore. And I think many apps have dropped the cost of jobs knowing we will take whatever we can get. I’ve thought many times about Uber Eats but wondered if it would be the same. This has been a really helpful insight! Also - so true about taking orders to outer suburbs. I’m in Melb and the apps just don’t account for that extra 30 mins you’ll take to get back into a working area.
I looked at Yello and Sherpa here but it just didnt seem worthwhile when I logged on. Uber Eats seems fairly consistent with food, package and shopping options for drivers. I definitely like to stick in ahotspot during peak times but the long drives can work for you during off peak when you might otherwise be waiting. Thanks for watching!
Seen 4 of your videos already. Thank you for all those tips. New here. I need to boost my income. I like driving so was thinking of something easy and flexible as i work physically Monday to Friday and they stop overtimes 😢. Set up abn, uber app and now just learning. Hopefuly my first dinner date with uber eats wont dissappoint me 😘 im just worried about cost of doing uber as apart from tax there is car exploitation.
Best of luck with your driving adventure. While there are costs to drive just make sure you get you maximum tax deductions. Most of your costs will be tax deductible.
Wow on my Menulog run, only on Saturdays, I tend to work 7 - 8 hours and if I am lucky, I can earn $20 per hour. Also, the previous Saturday I was supposed to finish my run at 7.45 pm but my last pick up I was waiting for 25 minutes after I was originally told it will be 2 minutes.
Thanks for sharing. The wait times are a killer. Its really unfortunate when a restaurant tells you something thats not accurate. It destroys your earning ability. Have you tried Uber Eats or Doordash? I would be keen to know if that affects your earnings.
@@deliverwithmatt No I am only on Menulog .I only need about $60 per Saturday to pay the loan on the car .I was thinking of working the dinner session during January as I am on holidays then .I am in the inner west of Melbourne
Fair enough. I talk a lot about hourly rate but there is a lot to be said for just having a financial goal and going out there and achieving it without worrying about the rate. Love inner west Melbourne. I lived in West Melb and North Melb for years! Great city but traffic must be hard to deal with?
Oh, wow! First and foremost, amazing job with the camera work. You have a 360 camera or something? Really love that. Secondly, oh my GOODNESS. Are tips not normal in Australia? I didn't realize this! Tips usually make up at LEAST 1/3rd (33%) of my income through UberEats here in Canada, if not closer to 1/2 (50%) of my entire income, whereas your tips only made up like 3% of your entire income. Very interesting to see. Thanks for sharing, safe drive, and have a great weekend! :)
Hi there. Thank you for watching and your kind words! You are correct. Tips are not normal in Australia for this job. The camera is an insta360 onex2 so allows you to reframe in post for some good effects 😀. Keep up the good work and drive safe too.
Tips are mostly a thank you or good rating hahaha. People here in Australia are not very open to giving that much, or maybe they don't think its necessary hahaha..
Great video. Interesting to see that breakfast was so low for you. Just did my first breakfast shift this morning with door dash in the suburbs of Melbourne and it was quite decent. Just over $70 for 2 hours work so I'm definitely happy with that. Out of interest, do you have a link to where you purchased that bag from? Looks a much better size than the ones I grabbed from amazon! Keep up the great videos!

That's crazy, it takes me hours to get to $70 unless there's a fat quest on. I'm in Brisbane. The breakfast runs are horrible too, $6 or $7 an order (but I am on an escooter, not car).
My net is irrelevant. My cost of insurance, petrol and wear and tear is specific to me and my vehicle. It is up to you to minimise costs and maximise tax deductions. My car uses approx 9L/100km. I service and maintain myself. I pay wholesale prices for spare parts. I pay insurance anyway so its a benefit to me to drive and vlaim expenses. Hope this makes sense.
Welcome! I like to do 11am-2pm and 5pm-9pm approximately. These are the peak times but there is also deliveries to be had at breakfast and late at night. Best to try out different times and days and see what works for you.

Hi, I'm curious. I just signed up for Uber Eats and Doordash. Does using a bicycle and car get the same order? because I registered using a bicycle. but originally I used a car and the orders I got were mostly under 10 dollars.
I think they would be different. Also if you are registered as bicycle and the app identifies you are using a car Uber will lock your account. Best to upgrade to a car account to avoid any problems!

@@deliverwithmatt about your car parking place...while you getting orders ..where did you park your car??is ist you need to pay for the parking???just wondering
Thank you for your question. There is lots of parking here in Adelaide. Most restaurants are in a shopping centre with free parking or you can park for free on the street 😀
Hiya! Yes I only do food deliveries so that I can finish by about 8pm. Rideshare drivers make best money late into the night on weekends, that is not for me. I may try some other apps in 2023 but so far Uber Eats has been good for me.
@@deliverwithmatt Thank you. I just got back into Uber driving yesterday after a four year hiatus and was considering Uber Eats. Does it work similar to regular Uber, app chimes, gives you directions to the restaurant, then you slide across on app then it gives you directions to the customer? Do you ever get complaints such as cold food and how do you handle that?
The app is similar. Here in Australia you don't get customer directions until you have picked up the food order. On the offer screen you just get the street and nearest cross street to make your decision. I have never really had any complaints. I use thermal delivery bags. It is quite easy to do food in my city so orders are not really waiting long and getting cold but I can imagine in other cities this could be a problem. All we can do is use a delivery bag and be as efficient as possible in getting the order to the customer!
Can you kindly explain how someone from outside Australia can come and start with Uber on full time basis? How much investment would be required and the likely return on it. Thanks a lot!
Hi there. I can't advise you about return on investment. This gig depends on your ability to navigate quickly and efficiently, your chosen market needs to be busy and your car efficient. Here in Australia it is not difficult to earn $25-$35 per hour doing food delivery in major cities which is roughly equivalent to minimum wage+ however it is not guaranteed and has its ups and downs. I would budget $5-6000 for a small fuel efficient hatchback to deliver. The rest is just small items like delivery bags, torch etc Hope this helps!
How are you getting nearly that much when I see the time showing 15 minutes or 24 minutes and your orders are around $6, $7 and $10. Seems more like $20 bucks or so an hour. Math doesn't add up, unless you're getting cash tips somewhere. $7 dollar was 17 minutes, the $9 showed 19 minutes. That would be doing twice as fast as the times and having zero delays at each restaurant to pull that off. I get the loss in time when you finish a delivery and you're stuck anywhere from 10 minutes to over 40 minutes waiting for the next delivery to show up.
Hiya. Its been a while since I loaded this vid but usually I put screenshots of my earnings and times. Not sure if I did on this vid? I have been averaging $30+ per hour since July 2021. The math is correct. Go to 8:50 in the video and see the screenshot: $241.37 earned over 7 hours and 51 minutes = $32.13 per hour. I casually deliver for Uber Eats in Adelaide and average $25-$30 per hour (not including tips) delivering lunch and dinner. And if I wait longer than 15 minutes for my next delivery, I go home, but that has only happened twice over 4 years.
