  • In this video I fix 4 leaks in my OM606 engine. There is also small test drive at the end.
    1) Oil hose fittings to coolear leak
    2) Engine coolant pipe leak
    3) Engine oil separator leak to intake
    4) Turbo oil drain leak

Your 606 has an oil separator on top of the valve cover.( It’s the plastic round thing. ) Your intake air filter will last longer if you attach the breather ( catch-can outlet ) between the filter and the compressor.

True! But I have just a silicone 4 inch 90 deg connection between air box and turbo. I would need to redo this connection with some solid "elbow" from aluminium. Not a big deal, alright yet another thing on my todo list, cheers ;)

@@MercedesOffRoadClub The W210 with OM606 had a rubber 90 bend hose with moulded socket to attach the breather between the air filter box and the compressor.

Congratulations!! Great job!!🤩🤩 where have you gotten the bumpers?

      Thanks for comment, much appriciated.
Front bumper I made out my factory one, just cut out place for winch and strenghten it with welder.
Rear bumper I desiged and built on my own from scratch. It is made oit of 3 diffrent modules, left, right and middle for winch. Each can be unbolted separatly.
Both bumpers are in this video:

Great videos!!!! Congratulations. I was also watching your other videos and all of them are great and ver informative. What shocks and springs did you select for your build and why did you choose them?

      Thank You for the comment!
Many years ago I bought white +10cm Eibach springs for G wagon and I did it with out any hesitation, it is my only choice. Unfortunately they do not produce them any more. It's because they did not get TUV certified in Germany, they lift so high that they change rotation axis for wheels left/right in hubs to much. But I do not live in Germany and these springs are great, they are very heavy duty compare to standard +40mm blue Eibach springs for G wagon. In front control arms I installed polybushes with holes not in center so its restoring rotation axis for wheels. For rear standard polybushes.
There is photo of springs here: th-cam.com/video/P4Z4yr0k2Js/w-d-xo.html at 28:02 but I painted them black.
Rear spring is made out of 21mm diamiter wire, front 16mm.
For shocks I went with Koni Heavy Track RAID front and rear, they have 4 levels of adjustment, they are pretty thick and I like them, would buy again.
      Cheers!

Hello, I like the quality and and effort you put in the build. I only noticed one thing, the turbo feed and drain is on an angle. This should be as vertical also possible.

16:40 Not used to the sound of this engine, is normal to sound like this on idle?

Yes, its all good. Its little bit more noisy first seconds after start until hydraulic valve adjustments get full of oil.

Sorry mate I have no idea, I can only speculate, I ordered 7.7mm elements which are capable up to 400HP, but there are not that many. In comparison to my good old OM603 (NA) it is huge improvement. If I go and dyno it I will upload video about it definitly.

did you find out the cause of the oil leak in the turbo?

    • @MercedesOffRoadClub
      @MercedesOffRoadClub  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Oil was definitely coming from factory separator (that is at top of engine) to air filter because I had it connected, then my guess is it was coming through air filter, turbo compressor and then through entire intake. Now I added this additional catch can in which all the oil should stay. Yesterday (18-02-2024) I went for first test drive so Im going to watch oil level in new separator. I have never had 606 before so I have no comparison of how much oil is "normal". I need to make more km to watch it and give more feedback.

mine was having oil leaking into the exhaust side ,but not sure why@@MercedesOffRoadClub

Ok, so it looks like your problem was somewhere inside turbo, too small oil drain diameter can cause that or just turbo worn out.
