@@theharbinger00 give me that pop of color with the green! I’ve always loved that version. Was one of the harder ones for me to track down for my collection wbu?
Initially very excited but then realised the general high mondo price point as never collected any before. Weirdly the neca ones just didn't do it for me so still intrigued by these.
Indeed. Now the excited has settled some the fear of the price point has settled in. Thats why I haven’t purchased any of the Mondo figures…couldn’t justify the price. However I think I will have to make an exception for these. Thanks for watching!
Yeah that’s the only downside is that mondo charges a premium. I have no doubt it will be quality and Kenners work in the 90s on their Aliens and Predator line is my absolute favorite toy line… don’t will be hard for me to pass up even though my wallet will take a hit. Thanks for watching!
Very cool indeed. I have not taken the plunge and purchased any other figures yet. I’ve been waiting for the right point of entry…this is definitely it. Pricing for their products seems to come up a lot and I totally get it. However, I see their offerings as “boutique” type pieces that are made with great quality and attention to detail. Thanks for checkin out the video and commenting!
@@acledfloyd Same. I have a few vinyls and prints but, as cool as their current toys are I haven’t taken the plunge…that will more than likely change with these.
I'm super pumped for this line, but not for the price, lol. I hope the human figures are the same as mondo, the real ghostbusters line, and the xenomorphs are 10" plus.
Same. I’m willing to spend a little extra on something like this…hopefully they go easy on my wallet. But historically their prices are steep. Thanks for checking out the video and joining in the conversation
I see the Hovertread in that booklet at 1:18 is the mocked up prototype. This is probably the best look I've seen of it since that ToyFair video from circa 1993, noticable by the different wings and weaponary. I love these kind of product catalogues as they often showcase early prototypes that differ from the final product. If Mondo do expand into the unreleased figure ideas, I'd like to see them tackle the Power Bridage Marines that were in the pipeline. Obviously without the intended gimmick, or if they also manage to secure the Predator license, maybe those Space Marine Jungle Hunters that Kenner were planning.
Same! I love those toy fair catalogs with mock ups. I have a few of them. One I have even had the full sized drop ship they had planned. Yeah it would be great if they ended up doing some of the unreleased offerings by Kenner. Thanks so much for watching!
@@2DayRentals I would love to see Mondo tackle the sketch I've seen of a planned Marine figure. No idea would it was meant to be, but they were on these roller skate/skateboard platforms and had a huge rocket laucher/radar dish set up strapped to their back. My guess is they might've been planned for the Power Brigade line, though the date on the sketch was early 1992.
How cool. Even some of the unreleased figures from the Hive Wars line…like Smash Mason or those other cool Xeno and Predator designs they had planned. How kick ass would that be?!?
I'm a casual collector of the vintage line so I'm excited to see what Mondo does. If their Rogue is anything to compare, it will be beautiful but ultimately too expensive for normal people.
Nice! Yeah this particular toy line is my favorite of all time. I think that the price is really the common thread as far as any downside to these…as much cool stuff as they have released I haven’t jumped in just yet for that reason. I’ve been waiting for the right release. This certainly will be a must buy for me given how much this toy line means to me. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Love talking about this stuff.
Yeah price is definitely an issue with Mondo…part of the reason I don’t have anything of their toys…this however…I may need to make an exception. Thanks dude.
While it does sound exciting, I am hesitant when it comes to Mondo, price point wise it will be expensive, secondly only Mondo figure I have is the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and was hoping they would continue the Universal Monsters line and they scrapped it. Instead made tiki mugs. Needless to say I probably won't pick up the line but hopefully they do some cool stuff with it. I will say they did a great job on the Castlevania statue, but for the price it was a no go for me, again going back to price point is scary lmao. Thanks for sharing good sir, and great Kenner Aliens collection, it was definitely a favor of mine growing up as well.
Thanks dude! Yeah I don’t have any hands on experience with Mondos toy offerings. I’ve been interested in a few but was really waiting on the right line to be released to give their toys a go. Naturally this is a must purchase for me…historically they are bit pricey but, I’m hoping they go easy on me. Thanks for watching man
If they go into comics they need to do the White Hybrid from alien vs predator deadliest of the species. They had a male and a female version. It was like human, alien and predator cross breed. And I think the female was alien and AI. Not sure been a while🤔 but the hybrid design is amazing!!!!
I’m beyond excited, but I’m concerned about the price and size. I hope they are more like the real ghostbusters line because they seem more manageable. Plus the whole 2-pack plus facehugger seemed to be similar to the ghostbusters release strategy. I loved the Neca ones but annoyed they stopped before fishing the line. Also, I didn’t like how they reused some parts to make them. They always seemed a little more convenient for them to make a buck than really going all in with new molds. Some of them were obviously better than others. I wish NECA had finished the line honestly
I get ya. Size definitely doesn’t seem to scale with anything else but we will see. I am with you on the NECA stuff.. I think they abandoned the line too early. Thanks so much for watching and commenting
Honestly price has been one of the reasons I have steered clear of some of the Mondo stuff. I know it’s quality and made with a lot of thought, love and detail. However, for Aliens I’d definitely pay a bit more premium because of how much I love the franchise… let’s just hope it’s not crazy. Thanks for watching
But these already came out again via NECA at a decent price. Not the hole line but some of them. If it's going to be Mondo they're going to be $200 or $300.
Yeah, Mondo's prices are often a bit higher, but they're known for great quality. I mentioned NECAs figures which I did enjoy… aesthetically I think NECA went for more realistic approach where I think Mondo will keep closer to what Kenner did. Can’t argue the price though…Mondo is steep.
Mondo is great when it comes to the detail. Apart from that accessibility is garbage. Very short window of preorder and even then very limited release of units. There scale point isn't the best, these are huge figures 10'-12' like their X-Men and Batman animated series figures so they won't scale with anything else and it sucks because if they don't do the full line then you just have two random characters while cool just doesn't seem fit to only have them on the shelf without their other roster. Lastly, cost. Mondo is known for 260/300+ type figures. Not easily able to purchase these days especially. Would have preferred Hiya got the line with the way they did judge dredd 7 inch figure was amazing. And price of 80 wasn't bad for all it came with
I can see how the pricing and availability could be a big concern for collectors. I'm just excited to see them in person. Availability is a big issue with Mondo…which really drives your point home about other toy lines getting in the mix for Aliens figures. I’d love to see it. Maybe this could spark interest in other lines to something. I don’t mind the size so much as I don’t too many Aliens figures of any at that scale so they will really stand out. Thanks so much for the insights and watching the video.
@@2DayRentals I hear you, the more we have the better type scenario. I'm just looking at it from a display perspective, this is why I don't collect statues and sideshow collectibles. Apart from the price, they just take up triple the real estate. Not easy to house all them. I use to have some horror slasher sideshows but damn had to sell them off because they just sat in storage not really doing much with them for the same reason. Can do a lot more diorama type sets with 7 inch figures
You’re telling me…room and display space are precious and much the same I have to watch it because as cool as sideshow’s offerings are you got to have the space to build up a collection of those. Same with the price.
Take a cheap (still easily) available toyline and make it into something super expensive, while we still have loads of neca stuff around as well as Kenner. Definitely not for me. It's a niche audience on this one. Most Aliens collectors want the more realistic model kit looking stuff. I love the Kenner line, but I would never but an un-necessary upsellf of a basic toy like this. Good for folks that want it I guess.
I can’t disagree with your points. Mondo stuff is more boutique and niche there’s no question. Over the years I have seen so many other toy lines get brought back to life time and time again. (Ninja Turtles, Gi Joe, He Man) Outside of what NECA did, which I love by the way, This Kenner Toy line specifically hasn’t been “remastered” in way that falls into aesthetic, quirkiness of the original. Aliens is the one franchise I greedy with and the more the better. Thanks for your insights!
If they are going Kenner they need to do the Flying alien queen and the King Alien. Those should be top priority.
Indeed a good choice to bring back.
@@2DayRentals would you prefer the green on black king alien or the silver and black version?
