    Many thanks for this interesting overview with lots of information. About the difference between parking and camping. As I understand your story it, it is not possible to do a picknick at daytime, stop and put table and chairs out to have a lunch on a nice spot, without any intention to overnight ? My question sound perhaps weard, but we intend of buying an ID Buzz (you know that sweat little minibus ) just for that purpose: not sleeping or camping (much to small) but a lot of space to use a build in kitchen which we can draw out to cook for ourselves. Cheaper, healthier and we like to cook ourselves like you. (But we also like to enjoy the comfort of a B&B or cottage, and the freedom to park everywhere with a car sized minibus). For seasons, If you like slightly better wetter for swimming, Autumn is always better then springtime: the seawater temperatures are still quit good in autumn, where in the springtime it takes months for the seawater to heat up. Good luck and save travellings from Switzerland!

    • @WeWillNomad
      @WeWillNomad  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Ronnie! You can definitely have a picnic, just not in a parking lot. But you will find plenty of places to picnic all over. The rules can be a bit fuzzy at times and especially in high season enforcement is stricter, but with smaller vehicles you can almost always fit under height barriers and get away almost all the activities that fit into 'daytine' behaviour. Enjoy your travels!

    Great video. I didn't realise just how crazy busy van life has become in Spain! I regularly go to Malaga several times a year, and have found the weather March,April & May is perfect also Sept, Oct, Nov. not too hot and not too busy! Also, I think with Brexit the 90/180 day rule fits perfectly with these months. I want to travel all over Spain and Portugal although my van build progress is very slow! Thank you for very informative video. I agree Spain is super cheap to eat out. 100Montaditos is great value for a beer a little snack! Enjoy....

      Thanks for the comment! Yup Spain gets BUSY with vans in winter! We met a guy in Sagres (Portugal) who owns a motorhome parking area just outside Malaga and they are pretty much fully booked throughout winter. There's still plenty of nice spots around Almeria and of course south of Cadiz if you don't mind a bit of wind! Good luck with the van build!

    Hi!! Thanks so much for this video. We are considering a trip to Spain/Portugal from mid October - December. We have a van and only have either a Mr Heater Buddy which we run only while we are awake or an electric heater for which we require electricity at a campground. How do you think we will do in November December? Do you think it's a good or a bad idea to travel to Spain/Portugal then? Do you have suggestions of where to start and end? Thank you!!

    • @WeWillNomad
      @WeWillNomad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are a number of factors to consider. You should have one good month with weather (mid-October to mid-November) This would probably be the best time to see the south of Portugal and then head into Andalucía for the colder months. The reality is that around Almeria there are plenty of sunny days and the temperature only drops below 10C some nights from January. There will be cooler days and nights from middle November but coping depends on how well your van is insulated. In the south of Portugal (Algarve) there are very few options for 'parking' legally but there are plenty of really cheap campsites - and it's their off season so it's not busy. It's the opposite for Malaga / Almeria where campsites will be mostly booked out long-term in Nov, Dec - mostly British retirees. However, if you watch our video on Almeria you will see even the informal parking areas can be quite busy although you should have plenty of options. Check our website for the last blogposts on Portugal and Spain. Perhaps this will give more answers www.wewillnomad.com/

    Thanks for the video, glad you enjoyed Spain. Next time you should visit Javea, one of our favourite towns on the Costa Blanca. If you don’t mind us asking…I presume your vehicle insurance is based in Italy? We were wondering how long it allows you to stay out of the country as we found most European insurance requires the vehicle to spend at least 1 day out of 365 in the country of origin ie Italy. It seems like you will be out of Italy for over a year so just wondered if you’ve found a workaround? Thanks guys 👍

    • @WeWillNomad
      @WeWillNomad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Claire. Yes we have insurance based in Italy. It's from Allianz and a motorhome specific product. We chose limited cover only (3-rd party, legal, , theft, road-side assistance, etc) valid for 'green card' territories. To the best of our knowledge there is no condition that requires us to be in Italy for a minimum period per year - not from what we read in the policy document anyway - but we'll reach out to our broker to confirm. That said, we will anyway be back in Italy before a year has passed. We plan on heading towards Sicily be September. Javea was on our list last year - we actually had Cape San Antonio viewpoint marked - but sadly time did not allow for more than a brief stop. We would love to explore that coast for kite-surfing spots next time. Thanks for the tip!

    • @WeWillNomad
      @WeWillNomad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Amy! It is certainly possible, but it will be much more difficult. There are significantly fewer feasible parking options for caravans and you may need to consider booking in advance to stay at campsites. Particularly along the coast there are many parking restrictions and even in winter the campsites are fully booked! Good luck and happy travels! 😊

      As long as you stay along the coast you should be fine. It really doesn't get seriously cold unless you venture inland. January is the coldest month, and you should expect some nights to dip below 10C, however most days there will be some sun and blue sky! Malaga to Murcia is probably the best bet. @@tingme_ Have to say I voted for Brexit but no regrets even though I wish to spend winters in Spain and the restrictions are frustrating. I think it's important countries keep their own sovereignty and do not give it up and get sucked into the globalist march towards a one world governance. I believe it was unconstitutional to have been taken into the Common Market in the first place.
