- I have always wanted to try winter bathing for real. I've heard that if you stay in the water for about 30 seconds you will not feel the cold and the body will get a rush of endorphins. So this cold saturday me, Johan and my best friends went down to the lake to make a hole in the ice.
I had decided to really push myself to the limits and stay in there until I felt that warm feeling. And so I did! And truly it was a wonderful and refreshing feeling. Afterwards I had more energy than ever before, and I felt sooo happy :)

In the winter, i like to go outside. Dont need a coat, maybe a sweater. I just lay in the snow. I watch the snowflakes fall, the sound of wind. Its so peacefull and relaxing. It does get cold, but if you focus on something that makes you happy. Its as if that thought or thoughts keep you warm. I recomend it to anyone going through something tough. You dont need to do it long, but take the moment to think. To think of every good thing.

Here where I live rarely gets snow and the last time I saw actual snow was 3 years ago. It was very beautiful.
It's also good for your nerves, the cold. You won't get emotional as fast as before you start doing it.

Where I live, if I did that I would be completely submerged in snow and would never be able to get out, but it does sound relaxing.
They way Jonna was breathing really portrays how cold it is in there - incredibly brave!

@@taetm8868 No that was a loss of control right there. She said it herself "Jag kan inte andas" which means "I can't breathe". You just have to realize that you're not going to die from this and relax your mind.

There are subtitles that you can turn on. They are not 100% accurate English and they lag, but they are quite good. The vast majority of the conversation was centred around the beauty of the area, how cold it was and the feeling of rejuvenation/rebirth after the dip, especially when they stayed long enough to acclimatise, in which case they described it as serene and Jonna was able to catch her breath after the initial shock of the cold.
She gave a few tips on where to make the whole, like always make sure you pick a spot where you can reach the bottom of the lake with your feet and bring a letter so you can climb up with ease if you need to and make sure you bring a few friends to keep you company. You should never do it alone. The red cottage/shed she points out is the Sauna they heated up a head of time so they can get warm after the bath. Hope I was able to help a bit since Swedish is not the easiest language ;)

In the old days, local people placed their infants and children in the snow for a few minutes every day to make them become comfortable in environments, which would make you want to die.

Alaska is cool :) Literally. Always wanted to go there some day. I think Jonna's home in northern Sweden and parts of Alaska somewhere near Anchorage are pretty much the same considering the climate.

I used to do this as a child. In the winter going into the ice water is instinct for some of us. Hot tubs are fun in the winter too with the snow. I love winter. Such fun. Thanks for sharing.

As an Australian I watch this in complete awe as I have only ever seen a tiny bit of old snow when I was in Canada (in summer). I’m definitely the stereotypical blonde Australian surfer girl and I love the beach and the heat, but I long and I wish to live in a cold country and to see it snowing, I can’t imagine how magical it must be!
This is so unusual, something I will never experience in my lifetime and in my part of the (tropical) world. Thanks for sharing this video.

Cold Place and Area...but. ..BUT. it warms up my heart if i watch this. ...makes me good feeling
Me living in USA and a warm climate wearing shorts and t-shirt and flip flops feel it’s to much work to go to a gas station and purchase 3/ 20 lbs of ice to add to a 100 gal stock tank for a ice plunge and I watch them walk a long way to the lake in sub zero temps with heavy clothing and boots and drill a hole with machinery to create a ice plunge that requires a ladder that they have to bring and dress down and to have to try and redress while wet and all they see is the beauty -
No complaining; just excitement and admiration for the way they are experiencing and a deep appreciation for the beauty that surrounds them.

Of course that kind of beautiful environment is sure to take one’s breath away but really I’m quite blown away at the attitudes of the real work they go through to accomplish a ice bath compare to the “work” I need to go through to accomplish mine.

The weather doesn't make you sick. Bacteria and viruses, that sick people carry, makes you sick. Living in a city with 10 inhabitants doesn't create many opportunities for this to happen.
You actually get sick when you change tempratures to quickly. So she wount get sick XD
She also says they cultivate stuff in winters, she drinks this natural water from the trees , she is a suede there so cold can only bother her for so long so...I don't think they don't get sick. But they take it easier than the rest.
I don't think it's possible to never get sick in a weather like this.

I have just started taking cold showers every morning- that is hard enough! I'll get there one day lol! It cleanses the energy body, as well as numerous physical benefits... And even just a cold shower makes you feel really good afterwards!

I do a sport which leaves me achy and sore, so I often dip my arms and shoulders in hot and then icy water 6 times, for 2 minutes each. I know the feeling of adjusting to the cold and the healing effect of it. It must feel awesome to revitalize the whole body like that.

Trust me, it's much easier to take ice bath than cold shower. I like both, and ice baths are muuuch easier to take. You just go into that water. Amazing feeling.

Never dream ever of doing this kind of bath! I am from the Caribbean Island of Puerto Rico...we get sunshine 365 days year around...this summer we got 115F degree with humidity for few days! usually temperatures are about 80F degress yr around....the coldest we get has been 49F in the winter and in the mountains. Love your country! but forget about snow....! will send some sunshine....greetings from the other side of the world. love your channel.

As a boy i took an ice bath in a lonely lake with the scoutfriends of mine - have not forgot the shivering and freezing after that. Cause i had just 50 kg body, the coldness went through and froze the bones :-)
Norra Sverige är så härlig! När jag badar bastu jag alltid går på kalla vattnet efter det, inte innan. Eller jag gnider mig in med snö. Tyvärr vi sällan har snö här i Hamborg i Tyskland. Men simhallen där jag ibland går på bastun har en liten snökammaren. Det är veldig kul!
What I was trying to say: The North of Sweden is so beautiful! When I use a sauna I afterwards go into the cold water not before that. Or I rub myself with snow. Unfortunately it seldomly snows in Hamburg (Germany) where I live. But the spa where I sometimes use the sauna has a little snow chamber. That's really cool!

My girlfriend loves your videos because she is from Kalmar and she really misses Sweden. Now we live in Denmark, but here there are no lakes and landscape like in this video.
