- A Commercial of this DEFUNCT park in MA. The demolition of Whalom started October 10, 2006. The Flyer Comet was demolished October 18, 2006. Whalom Park was an amusement park located on Lake Whalom in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, in the United States, that operated from 1893 to 2000.
I miss whalom park so much! I had so many whalom night tee shirts

I never knew where this park was when I went to it in the 90s. In my last year of college, I drove through that town only to be disappointed at the state of the park. Overgrown vegetation, rusty old signs...I never knew it closed down as I entered college in 2000.
One of the rare occasions where the Jingle was as good as the Park was.
I used to go here with my mum and uncle every single summer...r.i.p. childhood park
I loved Whalom! It's so sad that it's gone. I have so many memories.
I used to live in Lunenburg - Whalom Park held many memories for me - especially the roller skating rink.
Miss this place :[ Loved it as a kid and now though 25 I wish it was still around. HaHa hell, I still got a magnet, bottle opener & an ashtray (from Parents) from here ^_^
I went there for an end-of-the-school-year outing back in 2000 when I was in the 7th. grade!

Never got to go to it. But I did drive by it few years ago before it demolished. Sad loss, much like another childhood place I never got to go to - Mr Big's Toyland.

My Dad used to take me here when I was a child. I remember they had tickets you punched to get on the rides. I am putting together an album for my Dad for his 75th birthday next month. Does anybody have any old flyers or tickets they'd be willing to part with?
Whalom Park was the BIG "6th grade graduation" trip in my elementary school. Since Kindergarten you waited 6 long years until it was your turn to go to Whalom park at the end of the year in 6th grade as a reward for graduating elementary school. It was where I first won something out of those mechanical claw games. I won a stuffed hippo and everyone was so jealous. LOL.
I remember going every week with the summer camp i was enrolled in, a great park and i am so sad its gone :(

Wow I remember coming here when I was a kid, being 25 as well now and having kids not able to experience this park is pretty sad, awesome memories.
You should visit The Whalom Park New Ownership Program]s website to find the updates on Whalom Park! The organization is raising money to build a new Whalom Park in Massachusetts (not Lunenburg, unfortunately) and have already gotten a copy of The Flyer Comet's original blueprints! Keep Whalom Alive!
Ii road the flying comet when i was 8 during a third grade field trip. It was my first time on a roller coaster. it was a whale of a time. sadly I was too short for the go carts and i will never get chance to ride them.

I miss these old New England Parks. We used to spend our entire summers going to Whalom, to Rocky Point in Rhode Island, and then to Riverside in Agawam for what now seems dirt cheap. SIX FLAGS SUCKS! Damn near $100 a day to spend hours in line. We used to get on and off the Comet all day!

I never understood why they tried to go with the waterslide thing. Keep it to rides. Man did they have the classics- the Whip, Bouncer, Octopus, and of course the Tumble bug

we went to Whalom all the time I have 8 mm movies my mom took of my brother andI on the clown bench and I got to take one with my son on the bench the last year it was open

Ahh...memories. I have no shame in saying when I rode past there recently and saw the housing developments, I wanted to get out of the car and find someone to slap.
Maybe Whalom Park was kill by Six Flag theme park.
Whalom Park was the shizz...the only thing that even remotely comes close now is Canobie Lake Park, and even then it's not quite the same.
Seriously- even at the park's BUSIEST you'd wait maybe 5-10 minutes, max, for a ride. Compare that with Shit Flags, where you have to buy a "fast pass" if you want to ride more than 3 rides over the course of a 12-hour day.
The creepy mechanical clown or fortune teller gypsy in the glass box
It was creepy as it filled with air and deflated, over and over. The gypsy was somewhat shifty-eyed, was she dealing cards?
Yet I was quite intrigued as a child by the both of them. In retrospect, they should have been featured in the Herbie Hancock video, "Rock It".
