    Slainte, to James! 🥃🥃
If you read this, I want to thank you. It's rare to have the chance to try a lineup like this all together. Those of us joining virtually very much appreciate getting a comprehensive perspective.
Poured CB Peat Monster to dram along. Tonight I'm picking up a very smoky mince meat pie vibe. That Caol Ila is certainly shining through...
Cheers Jon, and all, and have a great week!

Do bear in mind: fino is the lightest, driest type of sherry (along with manzanilla from just down the road), oloroso is heavier and nuttier and PX is the sweetest. PX uses a different grape variety (which it is named after); the other types all use (almost always) palomino grapes, but different fermentation and aging techniques.

Loved these two Kilchoman videos Jon! And you are bang on, that single cask would be 100% Islay if marked 20 PPM. They harvest the peat from the banks of Loch Gorm on Islay, grow the barley on their farm, floor malt and then kiln it at the distillery. They mark all of the 100% Islay 20PPM but ive been told that is sort of an average as it is different with each batch of malt. As low as 11PPM and as high as 25PPM is what i've heard anecdotally. Loved these reviews as always Jon. Cheers Neighbour 🥃

Hello Jon! What an amazing Kilchoman special weekend! Thank you always for awesome reviews and sharing your thoughts on those bottles that I share with you. I agree with your flavor description of the PX single cask. It reminds me of a roasted and charred sweet yams that you can from a street vendor in South Korea. It also has some milky texture and flavor. Thank you once again! Slainté 🥃

Roasted and charred sweet yams! I may need to try those on the street this summer!

@@WhiskyNeighbour It may be hard to get it, since it is a winter season delicacy.. But in South Korea you never know. You can find pretty much everything all year round nowadays!

Hey Jon, I watched your Kilchoman reviews and those are great bottles. My experience is limited to core Machir Bay and Sanaig. I've been eyeing the Loch Gorm but a little leery of pulling a trigger on it as I feel like I have fatigues my palate with Sherry and Peat at the moment. I will keep an eye out for other Kilchoman offerings and maybe get a bottle or two for future. Man we need Oilers to score some goals! Let's hope for a turn around now that the series is shifting to Edmonton for the next two.

I can relate to the palate fatigue. I think I'm just coming out of my Peat fatigue , as these were really excellent. For a while, I just was not drawn to it, even though I would recognize the quailty. As for the Oilers. Yes. All the yes. I'm hoping for a very different game on Thursday. They need to get that goal mojo going!

Great video. Kilchoman might be my favorite Islay distillery with Sanaig being a desert island whiskey for me, enjoying it even over the Loch Gorm or some of the other specialty bottles I have of theirs. It would've been interesting to see the Sanaig with the other high Sherry influence bottles but it's still great to see people appreciating their stuff. Cheers!

I would have loved to shoot that, but I do not have a Sanaig on the shelf right now. Typically I prefer that over Machir bay. They put out such excellent liquid! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Great review Jon, I think I’d shoot for the PX from your notes although I’ve yet to try a fino finished whisky! Decided to pour the standard machir bay to follow along with, I loved it at first impressions a few months back but now it’s just too salty for me. But maybe it’s a summer thing. I think personally I’d go for either of those sherry finished ones before the machir CS now, cheers!

Excellent insight into your journey. I get some salt, but not over powering for me. The Fino and PX were very different .... I have way more PX sytle and for that reason, I may go for the Fino if I was picking something up. Anyway, thanks for dropping in!

It's fun to get lost in a game or series now and then. Hoping for a better game 2!
