While visiting Jackson I recommend staying in Downtown to be close to attractions and restaurants. The Westin Jackson is a great choice that offers the convenience of being in the heart of Downtown near all the action. Christopher Pitchford it’s just so sad to see a city with such a vibrant and sprawling culture be taken over by crime. I’ve lived in MS for 18 years, and it has always been my favorite city. Because just like this video said, it’s the city of soul. Most people are friendly here, but one bad apple ruins the bunch... also I’m sad he didn’t speak of the MS symphony or Thalia Mara hall.

What an awesome and ACCURATE depiction of Jackson's things to do. Based on some of the commenters, you'd think just by passing through you'd end up dead or robbed. Jackson and all the surrounding areas has it's challenges just like any other city or state. I can see some people have never left their own neighborhoods to know that. Thanks for highlighting the positives. I hope your video encourages your followers and the locals to push away from their 6pm local news and actual explore their neck of the woods the way they explore others ☺☺

Not to put a damper on anything and discourage anyone from visiting this state, our capital needs help. Downtown and Northside Jackson are the best spots... everybody complaining about the state Jackson is in when truly it's everybody's fault. Everybody needs to step up and stop waiting for the next person to fix a problem. That's what has the city in the state it's in currently

Watch out for West and South Jackson. There are some rough neighborhoods. lots of boarded up buildings etc. There are nicer areas in Fondren, Belhaven and the suburbs. Watch for pot holes
Loving this positive look on our city. You have to come back though and eat a Stamp Burger and go to Eddy's and Ruby's Snack Bar for the BEST catfish you'll ever have...

I love the south although i never been there yet. It's the Nr. 1 destination appart of New Orleans.
Parts of downtown still really look good. The majority of the old city limits of the city has become a vast ghetto. It was a good city to live in up until the 1970's, then it rapidly went downhill.I used to live there and saw my old neighborhood go from being a great place to live to a place where you heard gunshots on the hour on Friday nights and drug raids rounded up dozens of culprits.. Half the population of the city has fled to the suburbs.
I still love it here in Jackson. I like the people. Could do with more jobs. But I really love it here.

I've been to Jackson several times, I've heard Jackson was an awesome city in the 60s, 70s and 80s; however, local government has made the city go down hill.
What about in the 90’s and 2000’s.
@@GAURAV25855ify The 90s and 2000s was when the city turned into a shithole. The 90s was when the crack epidemic finally hit the area and due to its great location, was a big drug trading zone, along with globalization decimating the local industries during the time. I'm glad I had the chance to leave when I could.

I am very glad that you did this video, but I believe that you are missing a very major point. Mississippi has very little to offer its locals; unfortunately the youth are leaving the state. There is very little here, and sadly I believe that people with a louder voice are choosing to keep it so far back that it will never see modern times. This is why I am wanting to represent Jackson Mississippi as I audition for this year in American Idol. I want to bring life back to the city and the state. Show everyone that we have so much more potential that is waiting to be used if given the chance.

Jackson has more to offer than you're giving it credit for. You prob haven't even tried have the places mentioned in this video. Try to find the good in your city like you would if you were visiting another town. You might surprise yourself. Good luck on idol
Jackson Mississippi seems to the chicago of the south although Chicago is much richer then Jackson Mississippi the whole state combined but crime poverty and corruption is the same despite its tourism and hospitality side

Jackson is quite the nice place to visit, if just recommend you stay careful and cautious in some areas, though I suppose that’s a given for any city. If you do come visit I hope you have fun and that everyone treats you well :D

Jackson Mississippi where most of movies in Mississippi are filmed. Ghosts of Mississippi Mississippi burning my dog skip The Insider. Mississippi has known for railroads cotton and Tobacco and other then soul food and blues they got a-lot of casinos and Hurricanes as well.

I've lived in Mississippi my whole life we used to go to Jackson all the time but its getting so dangerous I don't go anymore.The Iron Horse grill does have good food and great homemade pickles. Also many other good food places but like I said the violent crime is just too high
just be off the streets before 4:pm. I live in Madison just 8 miles north and we only go to Jackson if we have to and are always on high alert. Sad but true.

Good lord you'll gain like 100 lbs in one visit with that food! But for the blues, soul, and culture, worth it! Please, for your own good. Don't come to Mississippi. This has got to be one of the most boring states ever. My state doesn't have a good reputation, seen as we have the highest amount of porn watchers and the highest amount of poverty and drugs. The only decent looking buildings you'll find are in some of Jackson and in the rich cities like Biloxi or the sub-city thing I guess of Woolmarket. And trust me, as a person living in one of the "rich" neighborhoods, the people here in these neighborhoods aren't something I would call decent people.

Tbh Madison is better (because I live there XD) Jackson needs some help the buildings look horrible you could visit a lot of other places tho too like Biloxi Tupelo, where Elvis Presley first lived and you can look up other Mississippi celebs there would probably be places to go for them.
But Madison is a suburb not a city. I don't think the idea of going to a place full of fancy looking strip malls, gas stations, and subdivisions is as appealing. I did spend my summers at MRA tho, in the Old Madison.
